Zambian held in Thailand over drugs

Police and customs officials in Thailand arrested a Zambian national for possession of more than one kilogramme of cocaine worth three million baht at Suvarnabhumi airport on Sunday, reports the Bangkok Times.

Identified as Mabvuto Francis Ngoma, he was arrested while attempting to board a flight to Chiang Mai.

Officials acted on an investigation report that there would be drugs smuggled from Bangladesh.

One hundred and thirty bars of a suspicious substance were found in a secret pocket of his luggage. A test showed that it was cocaine and he was charged with possessing illegal drugs for sale, according to Somchai Poolsavasdi, deputy director general of the Customs Department.

The authorities estimated that 1.15 kilogrammes of cocaine can net three million baht in Thai street sales.
The customs department has seized 11.95 kilogrammes of illegal drugs in 10 incidents so far this year at Suvarnabhumi.

why deal in such dirty business?there is a lot one can do pa!shame on this so called dealers

  2. Doompah says:

I love how Zambians are strong in their beliefs of good VS bad, and that people should not be treated lightly and should suffer the consequences of their actions. Such a strong minded society in regards to these kinds of affairs helps to eradicate the opportunity for such behavior.

    HOWEVER.

Just remember that the people who find themselves in these positions are normal people like you and me – who made a few wrong choices in their lives and end up wound up in a vicious cycle which is very hard to escape. Yes they created the cycle, but death is the harshest punishment possible [there is no further extreme than this].

Besides – ONLY THE CREATOR OF LIFE HAS THE AUTHORITY TO TAKE IT AWAY!

So I pray that the parties involved in this decision choose ANY OTHER sentence than death.

Mojo summed it up “EVERYBODY wants money” – we are all powered by the same greed, this person got the bad end of the stick and went to far – but we have all committed the same crimes in our heart.

  3. Lampaz says:

So sad that Zambians are engaging in the most dangerous trade live large. Here we are, Mabvuto will never compete with us with his style of life from drug money. Drugs are bad and if anyone suspect a family member dealing in drugs, report to the nearest police post so that the law can take care of such a pipo. Imagine this Mabvuto guy will never come back as his gone be hanged. Stupid Mabvuto and you can rot there and warning to Kabinga Pande, Minister of Foreign Affairs, please don’t interven because will suspect that if not caught, they are funding MMD to win elections. No to padling drugs Zambians!

  4. kampa says:

these guys never learn, they heard there friend has been caught in china for similar of offences and they still have the confidence to smuggle drugs in other countries.let the law take its course and the government shudnt be involved.

  5. Mavis Jivundu says:

He could be a nigerian. but even if he is a zambian, government should not plead for his release. It will be a miracle if he will come back alive. what is wrong with zambians these days?

  6. peter says:

He may be a Nigerian. but whether nigerian or Zambians, government should not plead for his release. this chap is will be lack if he will come back alive.

  7. THE SAINT says:

Mwanga’s legacy lives on. We are now officially an African Colombia! I wonder who the Zambian Pablo Escobar is? DEC should find him.

  8. Hey guys welcome back… kept us wondering as to what was going on…

This captive in Thailand should count himself lucky if he comes out of that country alive with that offence….

  9. Mwanawasa says:

Zambians no longer fear the GUILLOTINE. Execute the chap quiclky and silently. We donot want to know. By the way ZWD, has the Chinese already killed the other one?

  10. Ba Dr Maureen says:

I agree with the views of Jimmy. I just cant imagine a Zambian trotting from Bangladesh- Thailand on a drug errand. Nigerians are the chief suspects. But if it proves otherwise then Mabvuto aza vutika. there should be no negotiating on the part of government for drug traffickers. Let them face the firing squads coz drugs are doing a lot of harm. Welcome back ZWD

  11. Jimmy says:

Mabvuto ngati nizina lako, zoooooooona, all the way from zambia, bangladesh, thailand and now in custody. or could it be a nigerian who bought a zambian passport? let them invite a zambian well vested in the eastern language to interrogate this chap and find out if really he hails from pa nchende yesu. wether afylalilwe kumigodi, still we can trace the line and see if he indeed is our soil. because asia is infested with nigerians who have all sorts of passports but the zedian one seems to be finding a soft spot probably because some disgruntled chaps are selling such important documents to people who have dubious businesses

  12. Jimmy says:

ZWD welcome back we missed postings. Ala, why are Zambians now falling for this cheap way of life. Surely its better ukulya ibondwe than indulge in such filth businesses
