RB will return same day from DRC to mourn Teta

President Banda will only attend the Monday sessions of the two-day Ordinary SADC Summit and immediately return to Lusaka in view of the death of Benny Tetamashimba, his spokesperson Dickson Jere said in a press release.

President Band, will on Monday, September 7, 2009 leave for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to attend the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Heads of State and Government Summit.

President Banda said the death of Tetamashimba is a blow to his Government and the nation at large because the late Minister was one of the hardworking members of his Cabinet.

“Hon. Tetamashimba was very close to me. This is the more reason he was made my campaign agent during the last Presidential elections,” President Banda said in his message of condolences to the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, President Banda has also clarified that Jacob Zuma, President of the Republic of South Africa will be coming to Zambia for a State Visit in December as opposed to September as reported in the media.

He said President Zuma will visit Zambia from 8th to 10th December 2009.
