Lubinda
The United Party for National Development (UPND) Patriotic Front (PF) Pact Co-spokesperson Given Lubinda says the pact is slowly closing-in in the number of seats in parliament.
Mr. Lubinda says the numbers of MMD seats is dwindling from 85 to 83 because the Pact is taking over at a sky rocketing speed.
In his congratulatory words in parliament on Friday, Mr. Lubinda said the Pact scooping the Solwezi Central seat send serious signal to the rulling MMD.
Mr. Lubinda, who is also Kabwata Member of Parliament (MP), thanked the electorate in Solwezi Central constituency for making a wise decision to vote for the Pact candidate, Watson Lumba in a tightly contested polls.
‘I would like to thank and congratulate the Solwezi electorate for their wise decision to vote for our candidate, Watson Lumba. The MMD seats in parliament were 85 but now the seats are dwindling because the Pact is filling up the gap,” Mr. Lubinda said.
Last month, the UPND/PF Pact candidate Geoffrey Mwamba popularly known as GBM won the Kasama Central seat.
In yesterday’s elections, the UPND/PF Pact candidate Watson Lumba poured 5,669 against MMD‘s candidate Albert Chifita who got 4457 ,FDA’s Muhammad Kalela got 189, and independent candidate Thomas Kafula only managed a pantry 51 votes.
ZANIS
MMD – 1 CHITAMBO
PF – 1 KASAMA
UPND 1 SOLWEZI
Whilst EACH HAVE RECORDED A WIN SO FAR, HOWEVER, MMD HAS SCORED MORE VOTES IF YOU TAKE THE AVERAGE. THATS IS HOW IT WILL BE IN 2011. WITHOUT A PACT LEADER, THINGS LOOK BETTER
Lubinda stop being a hypocrite. We know yuo detest HH. So you statement is not genuine. You just want to be seen to saying something. You and Sata are currently not in good books. Did you go to Solwezi to campaign since you are the co-spokesperson of the pact? No you didn’t. most of you fellows in PF wanted UPND to lose solwezi so that HH does not gun fore the presidency. But unfortunately for you, there it was and HH wants the presidency big time. If sata was left to make a decision alone, he would probable let the younger man run the country knowing that it will be in good hands and Sata himself will haave a place of honour (and money of course). But people like you can’t allow that
there is no place for HH. he is riding on the popularity of the Cobra. Allowing this HH and his cohorts will mean displacing hardworking cadres who have put in so much in PF like GBM, Willie Nsanda, Mumbi Phiri and Lubinda of course. If sata becomes HE i must be VP and HH will only be welcome as a replacement for Daniel Mukombwe in Southern Province and maybe we can allow hin to move the provincial capital to Monze…This is politics and its a matter of life and death. We can smeel victory if HH can support Sata otherwise we will split the vote even worse off… And these boys Milupi and this rich but stingy lawyer Chipimo jr should be sorted out early so that the Bemba and lozi vote is not split. Any split will favour the mmd as they are national in character
you chaps who are speaking against the pact you dont have the heart for zambians. please leave the pact alone and go to hell idiots!
its becuming more confusing 2 undastand y pipo want 2 b MPs, councilorz, etc. their 1st claim iz that they want 2 represent the pipo.az much az the opozition wining these seats iz welcum, r they any beta than their countaparts in the ruling party, or parte az g zulu wud say? i mean take a walk in kbwt mrket, rite opozit kbt police and c hw much filth there iz. whre iz lubinda? hiz ofice iz just a few meterz away.y do they fite 4 these ofices wen they cant deliva on the most basic of services. same goz 4 scott, soweto iz filthy!
Movement for mad dogs are slowly going down
The Eye,
Do a little bit of civics research before you embarrass yourself here. MP’s are part of the legislature – they make laws. They are not part of the executive which implements the laws. when there is lack of service delivery or development in an area, the first culprits are the executive who are tasked with carrying out the laws (including the budget) of the land. Lubinda has shown some seriousness in his debates in parliament which cannot be said about the MMD bunch of ignorant MP’s who vote only along party lines.
Hanel are you normal or mad go on the electoral commission of zambia website and get your facts right. dont cheat. show us the calculations. I m an MMD member my fear is that your calculations can mislead our members not to work hard. the fact is that we were beaten clean. we need to wake up.
While you enjoy your celebrations Lubinda, I suggest you sit down and think of what will happen come 2011 when you decide upon a sole candidate. Remember that already you have disgruntled members, as at now information available indicates three other UPND members dissassociating themselves from the pact, making the tally to four. Add that to the rebels we are talking of 26 uncertain constituencies. Already that is quite a number, these disgruntled MP’s will definitely seek solace in MMD, you may not see it now, for some are not brave enough to speak out, come 2011, especially if the leader of this pact is not Hakainde, the pact will be but tale in the from the past.
The Pact should reconsider Chizyuka’s advise, you need to resolve this leadership struggle, and iron issues of power sharing as early as possible, allow those who will oppose the chosen leader to come to terms and be willing to give support to whoever is chosen. Without that the pact will definitely loose people in numbers to MMD once again. As it is now this is but a dream that Mazoka once had, infact Mazoka’s wind was much stronger than this combined force. Proof of you luck of strength is available from a meagre 1000 vote lead, this should be an indicator that victory is not as close as you may think it is. Food for thought.
Lets us be honest with numbers Mr Lubinda. Yes, MMD officially has 83 seats, but in reality, you know that MMD has 102 seats. Your rebel MPs who you have failed to expell are MMD. They vote with MMD on crucial matters in parliament, they decompaign the Pact whenever an opportunity arises, surely, lets tell the pipo that for now, we are just consolidating outside parliament because inside, its hot. Of cause, there is Mpombo who is sometimes outrageously anti-MMD, but its just him. Magande, Masebo can barely speak, these actually vote with MMD. Shakas is even sending emisaries to be brought back to the MMD fold, so what are we talking about Mr Lubinda.
Winning elections, yes you can, but please, what are your policies on so many crucial issues. Stop that more money in your pocket nonsence, those are campaign gimicks that have failed Zambia before like trhe one egg trash.
Mr HH, Mazoka used to give us an alteranative budget, the MMD presented its budget more than 6 weeks ago, what have you to say, and if you were in power, how would you have proceeded. Mazoka’s approach was better than yours, hence your failure to contain his gains
If this kind of fantasy is the Agriculture science analytic NRDC offered Lubinda for his Certificate level education, then the curriculum must be replaced. PF has 19 MPs while UPND is now 22 without Major Robbie Chizyuka.
The ruling MMD was at 85 MPs plus nominated ones giving it a strength of 93.To the MMD voting side are all the 22+1 pro-democracy camp in PF who never vote with the one dimensional leadership dictatorial camp Lubinda is now singing for.
Even if we looked at Lubinda’s Chalimba College of Agriculture Certificate program fuzzy math, PF-UPND’s 19+22 is not even 50% of MMD strength. This is the problem with illiteracy when it finds its way on the ballot offices..
Since ruling MMD ushered in plural politics in 1991, Solwezi Central constituency has kept changing party alignments 5 times. Following MMD triumph in 1991, it was lost by a land slide margin to Humphrey Mulemba under his then National Party following a push out of MMD in the early 90s.Two years later, MMD retained it but in early 2000s it was again lost it to Mazoka’s UPND with a defining run away margin.
Exactly some two years later Solwezi Central seat was regained by the ruling MMD until the untimely death of Hon.Teta this year.
Anyone who is not a dementia patient know this fact that the history of Solwezi Central is not worth taking for guaranteed especially when it has been won with a dismal margin of 1200 votes forgoing over 17,000 plus votes out of 34,600 registered. Solwezi Central voters’ alignment history is of going back and forth. To be comfortable, a winner there needs to convert and pull out not less than 17,000 or win with a run away margin of not less than 67% above the percentile of closest rival.
There is no voting security for 2011 considering that the remaining 18,000 plus voters are unconverted for the confusion of the PACT leadership struggle about to ensure. HH now artificially namena amapapiko, he believes more than ever before that he should be the PACT candidate a dream Sata will tear down and trash. Had he lost Solwezi, it could have helped in a compromised negotiation for Presidency, but under a majority MMD Parliament where the issue of running mate or Prime Minister remains a fallacy, HH’s insecurity of becoming VP in a non binding PACT’s imaginary Government is overwhelming him.
His base will not take kindly any call of deputizing Sata they know insulted and kicked late Mazoka out of MMD any issue haunting HH. His base will press for nothing less than realizing their “Tonga only President dream”. Even HH himself with the Solwezi Central seat frenzy and data that Sata is in uncharted waters in Luapula, is for nothing less but PACT Presidency no different ambition to the naturally fixated Sata. But the republican constitution has no room for a dual Presidency in this country. This means the drama begins here.
Angel dont try 2 act more knowlegdable, if anything u r exhibiting embarasin ignorance and naivity, who doeznt knw the influence or potential influence the MPs pozess.

Thanks guys, I have read your articles here. some are very correct…!!! I said it already that people from other provinces do not trust sata and that they believe he is the one chased Mazoka from MMD… They can only trust him if HH is made president otherwise, they will vote for Banda RB. The issue should be looked very seriosly. The issue of saying you will take over should not arise expecially that sata is very known for his stupidity. if MP from his area are against him and you want other provinces to trust him to build houses in 90 days. sata must understand that HH should stand as pact leader for the people to trust him.HH President and sata vice president then they will win without luapula or northern province and eastern provinces. Do not base your simple maths that sata got better results last time 38% and banda 40%. remember that some of these results were from UPND strong hold…HH had corrected them,, it would have different story….!!! why do you want bring in sata..!! to cotrol educated people like david matongo, hachipuka, kakoma and others including Lumba, it is not posible.Even chiluba does not trust SATA..!!
The issue is not about bringing change…!! The issue is about how do we bring change!!!? When we were changing UNIP to MMD,,,,we hoped that athur Wina will be president. But chiluba came from nowhere and managed to take president…!!we did not realise this man is a thief..!! But in case of sata,,everyone knows him very well. He did not join Mazoka why…!!! who is saying sata is popular. people in town think he will make his miracle with his promise of less tax and more money in your pocket…considering hardships people in town are experiencing. we can not be voting the same people who are part of this terrible crimes in zambia and you call them god..!! In fact sata made it clear that no one should be a president unless he is a bemba,,,!! how do you vote such stupid a man….?
Kizito dont bring confusions in the pact. Those r tribal sentiments tho u r trying to come out smart. What we want is to get rid of MMD, it doesn’t matter who leads the pact, both r capable of leading zambia far much better than RB.
Lubinda…!!! you are just a useless person…you mean other people who are supporting other parties are not die hard suppoeters of those respective parties. Only somebody from PF is considered to be die hard supporter. you should be ashamed about this idea of yours by saying only bembas should be a president of zambia. The whole of this thing of yours called pact is not needed…! you are even saying HH is riding on popularity of sata…! This is very dangerous statement coming from such sad man like you.!!! we all need pact but let us be careful whom we are putting…as a president of zambia… SATA’s tongue and your tongue is so bad that even those who wanted to join are folding there hands. sata even said in Luapula, he will stand as preident of zambia. what if HH also start saying he will stand as president… to you is not good.!!!. Let us understand the politics of zambia if you are just born!!! In 1964, Nkumbula was told to join kaunda, what happened…!!! when kafupi was a president he did not want any person from south to his vice president..!!! even sata if we put him it will be the same…!!! do you know why UPND was formed…!!! if sata is popular let him stand alone but remind him of his age as well…!!! HH can still stand even in 2016..what about your rotten teeth!!!?
SATA SHOULD BE PRESIDENT AND HH PRIME MINISTER UP TO 2016. AT THAT TIME HH WILL THEN TAKE OVER. AS SIMPLE SS MEERKAT.COM, CHILI SHANI KANSHI? REMOVE FI TRIBALISM MWEBANTU.
who is going to hand power to HH. That is what you are cheating yourselves. sata said only bemba should be president of zambia. since HH is not a bemba who sid those words is sata who is going to give him power. HH should be president he will hand power to sata in 2016,,, sata will go for third term.
lets wait and see!!
When all mudslinging is done, the dust settles, and sleeping dogs lie. The hailstorm coming unnoticed, with strength to shake and break the witless cradle of political skeptics and cronies who dream of nothing but wishes for this nation to continue wallowing in poverty; time has surely come. When the noisy hill that yields no better fruit than cadres sheki-sheki smell, and casts a curse on the innocent voters who do not see a single promise fulfilled, yet they still boast of being township stars; roads crumble, and soon become gorges so impassable, with mosquitoes in soil drainages multiplying like the same malaria in the homes; then they want another vote so that more money can be stolen in front of our nose.
They think we are fools and so used to their folly! Nonsense! Every level-headed Zambia now knows how painful it is to support crooks who have for many years enriched themselves and turned a blind eye to the suffering of the masses. Corruption if their “Father” married to their mom ugly “Greed”! We have come a long way cheated by students of Swiss bank socialism to hired preachers of “Bahamas” capitalism, who could only think of brain washing us into believing they are HEROES, other than ZEROS, and “pray” hard in foreign countries for their sins to be “COVERED UP”! Shame! This idiosyncrasy smells bitter poison. A new broom is coming to sweep Zambia’s dairy politics. Wait and see!
