Mbesuma sets sight on Angola
Moroka Swallows hitman Collins Mbesuma is confident that he can rediscover the goal scoring form that saw him net 33 goals in 27 games for Kaizer Chiefs a few seasons ago.
The 25-year-old netted a brace for the Birds against Golden Arrows at the weekend in their 3-1 win and believes that he is almost back to his best.
He told Football365.co.za: “I’m trying to get back to the form I had when I scored those goals for Chiefs because I have struggled with injuries over the last two years and I need to work extra hard to get back to my best.
“I’m a striker and I need to score goals, so I hope that I can carry on from where I left off against Golden Arrows in the next game.
“I haven’t set myself a goal target for the season, I just want to try and score in every game I play in.
“The coach is encouraging us to work hard here and the more you work hard the more you are going to be in the team.
The former Portsmouth striker has set his sights on making an impact for Zambia at the African Nations Cup in Angola in January where The Copper Bullets have drawn heavy weights Cameroon, Tunisia and Gabon.
He continued: “It is a tough group we have drawn with some big games against Cameroon and Tunisia, they are some of the top teams in Africa, so we need to challenge them and work hard to beat them and make the most of our opportunity to play in the Africa Cup of Nations.
“I’m confident that I will be part of the squad that goes to Angola because I have been working hard and I have to play as many games for my club and do as well for my club as I can to be there.”

Angola CAF finals does Zambia have a chance considering that we do not have a strike force. Of the players we have both local and professional how many goals have they scored. Even the qualifiers where the country scraped thru with two goals out of six games. May be miracles still happen for Zambia to phantoom the idea that the team can bring the Africa Cup to Lusaka when even COSAFA is a pipe dream!!!!! As for Mbesuma dream on, dream on.
Well done collins the coach shouldn’t make a mistake to live out we depending on you more goals and good lucky
mbesuma improve or else you wont be in angola.

Panyo iwe. What’s your decent name please? I don’t want anything like Panyo pankhuku, tambala, kokoliko, nyoni, kombwe, kalulu, galu, koswe, iyai…ponse apa ni panyo. What’s your name?
I wish our players could be honest with their age.
These guys should go by road to Angola to serve money for the convention (MMD). They should camp in mwinilunga and travel to Angola a day before their first match. Mbesuma u are really a disapointment to the zambian soccer fraternity like RB, I hope u mean it, work hard, drink less man, fuck less everything less less lesss except scoring more
I was thinking the exact same thing if he is only twenty five he can regain ground, maybe even move back to europe and this time be mature. You are married mr. Mbesuma deal with that.
Wat matters for striker is link up play wth the midfield.if it’s lacking u can’t score.in Zambia we need to forge formidable partnerships whre players begin to understand each othrz movement.gudluk mbesuma.
Okay you have my support. We have a vacum(sp) in the striking force. The sooner someone fills that space, the better especially the non performing but recognised strikers. You can imagine the risk of bringing in un unknown scoring striker at tis moment. If he he fails to perform for any reason, him and the coach will be fired at the same time.
On a lighter note:
Sports reporter: Mbesuma, how do you keep fit?
Mbesuma: I ran away every morning (he meant to say I go jogging every morning)
Mbesuma is still 25yrs old?
