Zambia’s president Rupiah Banda and Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe are next Sarturday expected to officially open the one-stop borderpost at Chirundu.

The Chirundu border post on the Zambezi River is one of the busiest inland border crossings in southern and eastern Africa with an average of 270 trucks a day carrying goods and 581 travellers a day by bus, motor vehicle or foot, between Zambia and Zimbabwe.

According to Cutting Edge PR, ‘the President of the Republic of Zambia, His Excellency Rupiah B. Banda and The President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, His Excellency Robert G. Mugabe, are expected to officially launch the Chirundu OSBP on Saturday, 5th December 2009.”

The Chirundu border post was created by the Common Market for Eastand Southern Africa, East African Community, Southern African Development Community, the governments of Zambia and Zimbabwe as a joint exercise.

The project was created in recognition of the need to alleviate the long delays of clearing customs and immigration between the two borders.

Its high time we called for early elections. This man is busy making money for Tandy and the twins. He is not pre occupied about the immediate needs of the Country. Just a month ago he was in Chirundu. Why didnt they combine the two functions. I wonder if that left leg will ever stop nagging him.
