President Banda speaks out on Namulambe
President Rupiah Banda has warned his ministers of severe consequences if they engage themselves in vices likely to cause anarchy in the country through tribalism.
President Banda said that tribal remarks are the worst thing ministers can engage themselves in. He urged ministers who are also politicians to exhibit good conduct when in public domain.
“Ministers who as also politicians should look after themselves and desist from engaging themselves in multi–racial, multi-lingo, multi-religious because these vices are the worst thing politicians can do or else they will face the consequences,” President Banda said.
The President Banda said this on his arrival at City Airport from Kalabo District in Western province where he had gone on a 3-day working visit.
The ZAF plane MA-60 carrying the President touched down at the Lusaka City Airport at 16-30 hours Zambian time.
But Science, Technology and Vocational Training Minister Gabriel Namulambe has warned that he will not be intimidated by anyone because he is neither a coward nor a lightweight in politics.
Mr. Namulambe, who is also Mpongwe Member of Parliament, is quoted in the media as having said the Lamba people in Lufwanyama district in Central province feel that the late president Levy Mwanawasa‘s legacy was allegedly not keenly followed by government.
President Banda was accompanied to Kalabo by Finance and national Planning Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane, Tourism, Environment and natural Resources Minister Catherine Namugala, Works and Supply Minister Mike Mulongoti, State House Chief of Protocol Bob Samakayi and other senior government officials.
Defense Minister and Acting Vice President Dr. Kalombo Mwansa, cabinet ministers and their deputies, former Zambian Ambassador to Mozambique George Chulumanda, former Home Affairs Deputy Minister Grace Njapawu, Secretary to the Cabinet Joshua Kanganja, Defense chiefs, senior government officials, newly appointed MMD Lusaka Province Chairman William Banda, senior MMD NEC party officials and other Zambians were on hand to receive the Head of State.

Levy identified himself as a Lenje, but when it comes to getting annoyed about his legacy, the Lamba do it. What a mess!
he just watsed taxpayers’ money..here was no need of going to kalabo..Gabby,u r the man of the moment and Madyenkuku with Mpombo..
This guy is a joke. How can he go with such a large delegation? And Kalabo why the delegation? There is no business there. God help us from Kanitundila. Deliver us from this man.
Dark Knight
If Namulambe went to the President and shared his opinion the President could have fired him without the public knowing the true reason behind the President’s decision.
Gabriel has misfired it this time and he needs to be disciplined.Who told him that whatever was planned by our beloved late President should strictly be followed by the current regime?People should learn to understand that our late president had his own way of governing the nation. The only thing that we should press this leadership on is to do things correctly regardless of the method used.I know that a lot of things have gone wrong in our current leadership, but lets try by means to avoid politics of tribalism
Brother Namulambe should realise that RB means what he has done.No legacy to talk about. He is busy occupied with himself. So ba mwisho you are neither a coward nor a lightweight in politics ba kamichafulapo mukambe namukuya kuma injuction anyway we need another by election.
RB do the Zambians a favour, fire Gabriel.
Instead of dealing with it he also goes to press. this issue of people living in the press must stop.
But levy was a Lenje who embraced everyone. how does gabriel attribute all this to his personal Lamba tribalism? whats the connection?
this same showing of no respect for the head of state by his own ministers is not right watever the case especially in the public domain, most of these pipo the president found them the best he can do is to relieve those he cant seem to wok with and bring in fresh blood
I wonder what all these people are doing in kalabo…allowances?.
As for Gabriel,i think it won,t be ok to incline the ‘Mwanawasa Legacy’ to the Lamba people alone.Levy was a national leader not a Lamba chief. So let zambians defend it not Lambas alone no.
I not MMD and will never be, but Nalubambe should not speak openly against his govt or leader while serving as minister. He can air his views directly to the President, NEC or Cabinet. If he felt they didn’t address his concerns or was still unsatisfied he should then resign honourably just like Mwanawasa did, he can openly talk in parliament against the govt as a backbencher then. You can’t have it both ways Gabriel and no administration worldwide can condone his outburst, Mwanawasa is dead so get over it! RB should fire the guy!
George Chulumanda, the damn good spender of cash was there to seek appointment,is a shameless plunderer. Why is the law still waiting?
