FORMER gender minister Patricia Mulasikwanda yesterday resigned from the MMD to join the UPND, according to the Post.
Mulasikwanda stated that she decided to resign following serious consultations with her family and colleagues.
“I have decided to resign from MMD with immediate effect and I have decided to join the pact through UPND,” Mulasikwanda stated.
She charged that President Rupiah Banda had abandoned the people of Zambia.
Mulasikwanda noted that President Banda and the MMD had done nothing about the poverty and hunger afflicting the Zambian people.
“…This Christmas a minister has given K150,000 to the local people to drink Kachasu to celebrate Christmas. Do you call this development?” Mulasikwanda asked. “The other reason is that Rupiah has no vision for taking Zambia to higher heights as seen that the great vision which the late president left cannot be carried forward, such as the fight against corruption, and his failure to bring the party together.”
Mulasikwanda observed that the MMD had now been divided into groups where the President had allowed people to be victimised through his close allies.
She stated that God was not a God of victimisation.
“Let God judge Rupiah and those who feed him with ill advices on corruption that Rupiah has taken as a best thing to do. The hate that has been built and found its way in his heart is the thing that has also contributed to his fall,” Mulasikwanda stated. “Lack of accountability of state resources, I have heard even the former provincial chairman of Luapula complaining of the same. Those are strong men in the political influence of our country, they speak from experience and what they know and there is need to listen to them.”
Mulasikwanda stated that last week, when she tried to advise President Banda, MMD deputy national secretary Jeff Kaande told her to go back to UNIP.
She said it seemed Kaande was blind to reality because President Banda also came from UNIP.
“He further added to say dissolved Western Province executive committee chairperson Simasiku Namakando is no longer in MMD, since I belong to that committee, I have decided to join the rest of the nation to fight the wrongdoings of the MMD,” Mulasikwanda stated. “If people can be removed from MMD because of their truthfulness and vibrancy, let us see how MMD can win these elections in Western Province in 2011. The history will repeat itself, this time it will be worse.”
Mulasikwanda observed that President Banda only listened to people who kept misleading him, such as MMD national chairman Michael Mabenga.
She revealed that Mabenga was even failing to hold successful meetings in his area, Mulobezi.
“Yesterday he held a public meeting in my village or area where only less than 10 people attended his meeting. In some other areas he had none to attend his meetings,” Mulasikwanda stated. “I have just arrived today from my village and I have witnessed those meetings. In fact those that attended his meetings are either forced or threatened. He has lost the grip in Mulobezi, my homeland. Even his family has deserted him, they have joined the pact.”
Mulasikwanda stated that indunas had also joined the pact.
“Although he Mabenga has given K150,000 to the local people to drink Kachasu to celebrate Christmas, do you call this development?” asked Mulasikwanda.
THE POST
Welcome home Mulasikwanda. Even sympathetic blog sites that bar against critical views in the hope of stifling dissent will go down with them. Kuyabebele.
MMD is self destructing…RB will go down the books of history as the only zambian president to rule for half a term and kicked out…
So she’s from Mulobezi, people always say she’s related to the late Levy Mwanawasa,Levy wasn’t from Mulobezi no wonder i keep saying stories in Zambia start from tarvens then spread like fire, everyone is perceived to be related to Levy so now we know she not.
Anyway, she’s made the right decision,MMD has now become irrelvant,it only remains a party for bootlickers and jobseekers who look up to useless people up there for handouts, poverty has made people to become so useless in Zambia,am talking about the likes of Kaande and many others in the MMD with no proper jobs apart from MMD work making them beggers and lose their dignity!
MMD in meltdown…
so mwalaumfwa kuli ka mulongoti ati she’s irrellevant, inconsequential…etc
lol
I think this pact will stay as long as they agree who will lead them… but I do not think sata has what it takes this pact to victory. Look in Malawi, Muluzi is saying he has left politics to have new blood in malawian politics…!!! He is 69 years old. In zambia this kaponya of yours is 73 years and you want to lead zambia. This snake of yours will plung this great country in turmoil. Let HH lead this pact. A lot of the provinces are saying if HH is put as president we will vote for him. sata only has 3 provinces which are to his side. These elections is for young man HH. To remove zambia from shakes of proverty..!!!! Sata can not develop this country. He need a rest…!! I can tell you chiluba destroyed sata’s chance to be president of zambia.!!!! people have not forgetten how he campaigned for chiluba third term even when he new it was against the law of zambia. This is the man you are saying he will hand over power to HH. COME on you Kaponyas…!!viva HH. sata is good at campaigns only nothing else. I hope you appreciate my advise…!! sata can not hand power.
THIS THING CALLED MULASIKWANDA SHOULD NOT BE DEEMED AS A FACTOR IN ZAMBIAN POLITICS,WEATHER SHE STICKS HER ASS IN MMD OR MOVE ON TO EITHER UPND OR PF,THE BOTTOM LINE IS SHE IS ONE OF THE USELESS POLITICIANS WHO CAN’T SPUR THIS COUNTRY TO ANY HEIGHTS APART FROM HER GETTING A JOB,IN SHORT SHE IS A USELESS DULL OLD BRAT,BETTER SHE RETIRES FROM POLITICS ALL TOGETHER,
This is what politics is all about. Every politician reads the political landscape and comes out with their own conclusions. Mulaskwanda reads that the MMD will not be in government any longer so she jumps ship. It is her reading and there is nothing wrong with that. Others will read differently, and come 2011 December, there will be some with egg on their face and others will celebrate. As for President Rupiah Banda, my word of advice is: Do your best to serve Zambia in the interest of the nation. It may be that you will have served the nation for only 3 years, but remember that the Lord Jesus public ministry lasted only about that long and yet there has never been any other person who has so influenced the world as he has. It is not the quantity of years in service in years that matter, it is the quality of service. Zambians may reject you at the polls in 2011, but if you have served to the best of your ability and turned the fortunes of the country for the better, you can go back home to Chiparamba and live in peace, sleeping well every night, like Mwalimu Julius Nyerere did. Please, sir, do not let the fear of losing the elections distract you from your duty. You have done very well so far and if people do not see it today, history and posterity will judge you in the warmest of light. Courage sir. Live each day as though it were your last and you will leave an unenviable legacy to your people.
What deluded self importance from a nonentity- a paper weight at best!
ELECTORAL Commission of Zambia director Dan Kalale has been admitted to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) following an illness.
UTH public relations manager Pauline Mbangweta confirmed that Kalale was admitted to the hospital’s H10 ward behind the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) four days ago.
Mbangweta could not however disclose Kalale’s illness.
Can’t we, for the life of me, see this man at Mutumbi, please?
Iwe Chizito, even Nyama Soya is 73 years old, so what are you talking about?
Sad, real sad that tired politicians with nothing to offer jump from party to party. if pact wins in 2011 we’ll have a lot of defections, if mmd wins we’ll have a lot of defections. the end result whoever wins will be the same tired people.
I don’t think this lady deserves the insults some chaps here have fired at her especially that she’ll probably not even read what’s being written here.
The lady has simply spoken of her displeasure of Banda and his henchemen’s way of running affairs in MMD and the country as a whole and that doesn’t mean she thinks she’s important. She is a former Minister in the ruling party so defecting to the opposition makes this a big thing, she may be a nobody as some say but its numbers that count, the more known people leave the MMD,the more people realise all is not well and they will follow suit moreover any person that has genuine love for our country should not be pleased with what is going on in MMD and our country, things are not right and we need change.Let’s wait and see if we will have new people to come up before the elections otherwise we just have to stick with HH and Sata although they are not the best we can have.
We can only wish Patricia Mulasikwanda all the best and remind her the reasons on record she advanced when pleading to join MMD from the UNIP faction. We did not send a special evoy as we did to RB nor she did she bring a defining voting block as RB the game changer did.She came single handedly as a tyred Malimba masheke UNIP factionalist that was very tired and in desperate need. Typical of a big heart mother of Democracy MMD, she was accommodated at the expense of many hardworking shakers and movers of MMD politics.
Buts its its like nowadays every dreamer and political failure that MMD denies favors and the many appointments automatically becomes a tabloid availed electoral fortune telling expert in their own world of illusions. Here is Patricia Mulasikwanda who struggled to win her own parliamentary seat until MMD strategists came to rescue her to get a seat in parliament, she is suddenly posturing as an electoral expert. The question is why didn’t see that Levy could not have pulled up any election without selfless MMD strategists in in the historic 2001 of 29% win and 2006 was served by RB unparalleled political sway that delivered a landslide Eastern vote?
Mama has never been part of the selfless MMD shakers and movers.Prepare to eat your own bitter words. MMD and its dedicated loyalists is bigger than any individual merely excercing dreaming rights evidently out of ignorance and bitterness in the wilderness. In bitterness there is no thinking or worthwhile insightful reflections of issues. She lost in the UNIPist factionalist battles, she failed at the MMD NEC election of 2008 elections of candidate and she failed in the 2008 election when she decampaigned RB but he won.The worst election ever in the history of MMD was in 2001 when savvy and genius political machine late Anderson Mazoka was in the ring and MMD suffered mass defections of real political giants. This was the time MMD faced a real and clear threat not the current noise making wafflers.
As voting patriots we selflessly delivered a Government and the Presidency to a patient Levy who could hardly outer a word but only stammer his name from rally to rally. He was unsellable patient straight from bed.In 2006, he was a stroke bed ridden patient for 6 months who could hardly campaign but we voters retained his Presidency.
RB is blessed to be an able bodied seasoned incumbent politician.Just prepare your hearts for another MMD landslide this time around.MMD will never ever lose to Sata or HH under our watch.Be forewarned that the ruling MMD will sweep clear 2011 maybe in 2016 should opportunities be mismanaged wittingly. The space the opponents are abusing with insults are secured merely to make them legitimize democracy and not to have a real opportunity in risking the nation with their tribalism and renationalisation insanity.
Zambia is a country on the move and will never be in reverse.
Unwavering as it were in 2001, 2006 and 2008 so shall it be but this time in 2011, its a landslide victory
Shangombo for RB
MMD members in Shangombo say they will support President Banda in the 2011 general elections should he accept to be adopted as the ruling party’s presidential candidate.
Shangombo district MMD spokesperson Moses Nasilele said in a petition to Western Province Minister Richard Mwapela that the ruling party in Shangombo is still strong and that the opposition would never take over control of the district.
Mr Nasilele, however, said the MMD in Shangombo is disappointed with some opposition leaders who he alleged have become professionals in vulgar and unpalatable language.
He condemned the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) for its continued attacks on President Banda and his Government.
“Shangombo is behind the adoption of President Banda as a presidential candidate in the 2011 elections. We know that President Banda has been working hard as the poverty index now shows that Shangombo is above Kalabo and Kaputa districts. With such achievements, we are even more encouraged to work even harder so that the MMD can continue implementing its economic policies,” Mr Nasilele said.
He said the PF/UPND pact is not known in Shangombo.
Mr Nasilele commended President Banda for his interest in seeing that the construction of the Shangombo District Hospital is completed.
job seeker!
Some comments really make me sick!! Poverty & unemployment turns people into mops,i feel so sorry for people in Zambia that the country’s development is almost stagnant,it’s because of the attitude of the people.
Yes,MMD has some of the best & workable policies but it’s the current leaders that have ignored the basis on which the MMD was formed and i find it insulting for some people to come on this blog & say the rubbish they are saying, every right thinking Zambian should know that the MMD with its current leaders has become outdated,we need more responsible people in MMD no wonder all those founding members are concerned and convened a meeting a few weeks ago,all is not well so we don’t need bootlickers to come here and give praises to failures! Yes Mulasikwanda is a nobody but the fact remains MMD & govt is not operating properly because of a bunch of buffoons!
JIGGA so what are you trying to reach at? anyway Mulasikwanda is a nobody and we are tired of same people who messed up MMD and now wants to be angels like mulasikwanda, mpombo, kavindele, Sata, etc . No wonder i will stick to RB.
The Gambino,
You are a wise dignified rationalist spared by failure, opportunism, irrationalist, bitterness, jealous, unpatriotism and anti-Zambianism kaponyalism of morally poor souls without a future but hallucinations in vanity.
We are the shakers and movers and pay allegiance to the flag, constitution, the zambian people and candidacy of RB.Unwavering as it were in 2001, 2006 and 2008 so shall it be but this time in 2011, its a landslide victory
OBSERVER
You must be still drunk from your christmas drinking spree of tujili jili. Sober up then start blogging otherwise you will be extinct like the zambian opposition. Please let me no when your hangover is over, however am praying for you.
SORRY OBSEVER, message meant for jigga and kay.
THANKS OBSERVER
Yes mulasikwanda is useless. She has nothing to offer, she is just a job seeker. am tired of such politicians. Can’t she do soemthing else than jumping from party to party? shame upon her.
Kum’mawa lady, Gambino and Observer, you are all useless! People like you are killing MMD… Why do you always think if a person within MMD has different views then he becomes useless and nobody? If VJ or Mulongoti leave MMD today, can you say they were not adding value to the party simply because they have left? Mulasikwanda was a gender minister, Mpombo was defense minister and Kavindele was a republican vice president, to say these people were nothing or added no value to the party is just having shallow mind… To think Mulasikwanda is seeking job from opposition is stupidity because there are no jobs in the opposition comparing the ruling…
