Tonga Chief stranded

Chief Ufwenuka of the Tonga people in Monze District is renting a small staff house at Charles Lwanga Teacher’s Training College due to the non availability of a palace to house him in his chiefdom.

Monze District Commissioner Emerson Machila disclosed this to ZANIS in Livingstone today that the Tonga Chief had no palace in his chiefdom hence the development.

The District Commissioner noted that the development was a sad one noting that the chief who is the owner of the chiefdom was homeless.

He appealed to government to consider putting up an official residence within the chiefdom.

Mr. Machila said Chief Ufwenuka’s predecessors used their family houses which have remained for the respective families after passing on.

“Each chief has had his own house where the families continue to live after a chief dies, making it difficult for the next chief to inherit the house,” he stressed.

He however disclosed that the chief’s subjects have embarked on a project to mould bricks for the construction of the chief’s house and appealed to government and well-wishers to come to the Chief’s aid.

I agree with Zuze, the subjects should build a dwelling for their Chief. But this can only happen if the see any value in having a Chief in their area. Its not for HH or GRZ to build such a dwelling. Other well wishers can only contribute to what the subjects themselves initiate. Afterall a village house does not cost that much

Here we go again..the tribe card…”Tonga Chief Stranded”, imwe bantu please please this tribe thing will consume us so what if he is a Tonga wouldnt it be better to say Chief Ukwe..of Monze stranded? And even when we ask for salvation we point to HH? HH is seeking national leadership not Tongaland…I dont see it too far a day when we shall read, “Bisa President fails to produce acceptable Degree Cerificate for election” or ” Tonga President in re-run with Nyanja President” please please please we shall oneday be very sorry we courted this path its a dangerous path…KK fought this with solgans ‘One Zambia One Nation’ and ‘Tribal balancing’ when it came to appointments in Cabinet…bane this is a death trap trust me….. Levy promoted this tribe nonsense and the family tree grew wings….oneday as we perish we shall remember this

Its like building new state house when ever new president is elected. My advice is build one permanent palace which every chosen chief will live in. How many palaces are you going to build b4 christ comes????

Lopa….whats wrong in saying Tonga chief? Dont you know that every chief is recognised by his/er tribe? eg. Chitimukulu of the Bemba, Mwata Kazembe of the lunda etc? Whats wrong with that? A chief rules his/her tribe but the President rules Zambia. Man I think you have a prblem?

Kambongolo! Uyu Lopa wants to build a mountain out of a molehill.

  • lopa wrote on 27 January, 2010, 13:22

Kambongolo, you have perharps not learnt much about the world..am not Tonga for your information..but please re-read what I posted. Equally when we speak about the Paramount Chief it is very clear who they represent, the Mwata, Mpenzeni etc.. Ufwe is not at par with those and so it would be fair to state his consitutency, Monze…..but feel free to see my problem and if you be comfortable with the head lines I will respect your position.
