Pray for govt, Catholics urged
A clergyman in Mansa district has urged churches in
Zambia to desist from engaging into active politics but instead pray for
the success of the government of the day.
Mansa Grace Ministries’ Reverend, Cruise Lumbama bemoaned the embarrassing
situation some church members and leaders have found themselves into
because of being involved in active politics.
Reverend Lumbama was speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony for a
skills center to be built in Mansa by Grace Ministries at the total cost of
K350 million.
In a clear reference to the Catholic Church, Rev. Lumbama noted that church leaders, who involve themselves in
politics, are denting the image of the churches they represent and their
flock.
He said the church has a duty to pray for the leadership of the government
instead of unceasingly attacking government leaders and demonstrating
against government.
He said government leaders were chosen by God through people and therefore
should be respected, advised and prayed for when they go wrong rather than
criticizing them.
Rev. Lumbama said the church should work with the government of the day in
promoting development in the nation.
He said the churches, which are active in politics, should redirect their
energy from criticizing the government to putting more weight on
developmental projects.
He said his church will not waste time to complain about government but
shall supplement its effort to alleviate poverty in the nation.
“Our church will not waste time to complain about the government because
the church is supposed to work with government to alleviate poverty,” he
said.
Rev. Lumbama noted that the current government was committed to develop
the nation but needed concerted efforts from other organizations such as
the church inclusive.
He said his church was emulating what he described as ‘hard working
government’ by putting up a K 350 million skills training center project.
The clergyman said the skills center will provide people with necessary
skills which will enable them earn a living.
Rev. Lumbama said the project will help reduce poverty in Luapula
Province, particularly Mansa as it will equip people with skills which will
make them become employers.
And Luapula Province Permanent Secretary Jazzman Chikwakwa has commended
Grace Ministries for the initiative of putting up a skills training centre.
Mr. Chikwakwa said government was impressed with Grace Ministries’
initiative to complement its effort to alleviate unemployment and poverty.
He has since appealed to other churches in the country to emulate Grace
Ministries.

Clear incapable of mustering a meaningful campaign, PF firstly through the POST have turned to the Roman Catholic Priests thinking they offer a legitimate moral platform.
In the recent past the Roman Catholic Church has been rocked with scandals involving the sexual abuse of children in as many countries as Mexico, Brazil, USA, Australia, Netherlands, Germany and currently Ireland. Millions of children have been abused by these Roman Catholic Priests. Turn any headline news you will find this.
It is unbelievable then that here in Zambia the Catholic Priests despite their world wide tainted image portray a holier than thou attitude. It is an open secret, to use Telesphore Mpundu’s language, that many of these Zambian Fathers are engaged in heinous sexual misconduct activities which if investigated will expose a huge scandal.
A few women who have absconded their vows as nuns have told stories of goings on at the seminaries and convents and have broken the secret oaths to reveal the sexual immorality taking place in these ‘havens’. Priests have the ‘privilege’ to request for favours from nuns and the nuns are specifically encouraged to cede to the Priest advances. Indeed the superior mothers are even approached by the priests to scold the non givers. The hopeless women are cowed to keep quiet threatened by forced secrecy oaths.
A few former nuns have revealed the despicable goings on in these Roman Catholic Havens. Now to suppose that they (Roman Catholic Priests) are the custodians of morality in Zambia is simply to be out of touch with reality. Many of our children are abused by these wicked priests and it is time that even here in Africa the story should begin to be told.
We don’t have the avenues that our colleagues in the Western world have to be able to free up those that have been abused by these priests to come out in the open to share their stories. Worse the cultural norms in Africa allow for stigmatization of those that may be willing to reveal the story of their abuse. Culture is that veil that has helped to hide this abuse in Africa. But it is time that things changed.
The open threats that this Bishop of Lusaka was able to blurt out is a product of the assumed power influence they have grown to believe they yield. A priest openly defending infidelity did not care to think that his moral perspectives would be in the spot light but relied on his assumed high influence to make scathing, un Christian attacks on government. That is the same spirit they continue to pepertuate sexual abuse of Children not only out their in the rest of the world but here at home as well.
I feel sorry for the Catholic Church in Zambia and world over.
Very soon all will understand the scriptures in 2 Thessalonians 2 which warn all serious Christians about those who fake to be God’s followers when they are carrying out the devil’s activities.
Have a blessed day.

Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added
In as much as the church should be praying for the political leaders, they also have a duty to point out the wrongs of the Govt. References are plenty in the Bible where priests would point out the wrongs of those charged with governance. David was rebuked for sleeping with another man’s wife, John the Baptist was beheaded for being a thorn in the flesh of Herald, and there are other numerous such incidences in the Old Testament. So, it is very repugnant for this man to suggest that church leaders be hermits who should just focus on prayer.
I do not want to change my identity for you to accept my contribution, Just publish my postings on Nawakwi topic. I sent two, why are you hidding them?
Abena George start by praying for yourself
Actually Zambians should pray for the Catholics. They are going astray.
If it comes to investment, it will take years for any other church to equal what the Catholics have done. Other genuine churches do not advertise their achievements either. Look at the 7th Day Adventists… When the Church saw the issues of the 1st republic, it stood up and achieved its duty to speak for the oppressed. The current regime knows too well the power of the church because, remember, RB was a pure UNIPst. So does it surprise you when you see so much propaganda against the Catholics. The government wants the Church to practice the Karl Max described church which is meant to put us to sleep as it feasts. Change or Die hungry. The choice is yours!
Alistoto,
Ala ichishinka chilakalipa mune.Tell me why Father Bwalya,Augustine Mwewa, Simon Kabanda and ba Mpundu bene are PF cadres? Unfortunately, those who have formed “some” political party 96% dominated in leadership by our very own natives have done and keep doing so with recklessness and blatant abuse of the Bemba name.Fwebena lubemba we are tired of seeing our identity abused by outcasts from some satelite tribes.
They have mischeviously called Mazoka’s party a tonga party, Mwanawasa a ifitundu President, Kaunda a Malawian, Chiluba a Zairean and RB a Ngoni President. When they need political opportunities they have tried to use the bemba native by planting hatred that respective regimes are calling us stinking, that they are persecuting those who have been found wanting because they are bembas.
The bemba tribe has been abused and its time to tell off these masquarading power chasers that they are not bembas but abusers of our honorable identity. These priests all from our tribe and cadres rallying around these masquaraders are enemies of our bemba community. Our silence of tolerating this outright abuse manifest that we are losers. We have allowed ifinangwa to abuse and exploit our identity in their quest for power even when we know they are total moral and constitutional hazards merely entraping our people in infinity poverty and wishwash.
Its time credible people are found to competitively pitch up at national level on issues than tribal groupings merely abusing the our honorable and socially responsible bemba name.
Fr Bwalya declared that he has ‘stopped praying for government’ contrary to what many people say the bible commands. One wonders if the chap even bothers to pray at all, if he can put his tribe above his faith he clearly is a lost soul….
Chekwe, naiwe walipena, you have adopted Veteran style, or you have resurfaced as Chekwe. You are posting the same message on all topics. This topic has no relationship with your discussion, check the alignment of your brain. Stop smoking daggar or is it sniffing cocain.
Chekwe, the people you have mentioned are not saleable as they do not have a track record to show that they have the interest of the people of Zambia at heart.
Fwebabemba twalitipwa mufya pa chipango
Ichishinka chilakalipa. I think those using our lubemba name have not only been injurious to us all but been very reckless in abusing the bemba tribe. Unconspiciously or blantantly we see Bishop Mpundu, Father Bwalya, father Mwewa and Ba Simon Kabanda telling all Zambians that we tribal we want only some from our Province in Plot one. With such open stigma how do will get the solidarity of the country?
Its clear that fwebena lubemba tulifipuba sana….How come those who are hardcore tribalist among us have kept failing in identifying a person we can sell as bembas to the entire country as a credible national leader from the lubemba land? From time in memorial its either we are rallying around inchinangwa or umulwele who is unsellable to the country.
Here we are again 18 month or so from elections still fooling ourselves with Sata a bisa born of Nuacusa in Mbeya for President. What if he grows cold on making oath before the Chief Justice over his forged degree and that plus an injunction against his criminal record holds?
Why don’t we prop up leaders like Bwalya Ng’andu, Bwalya Chiti, Chekwe Puta, Felix Mutati or Alexander Chikwanda from lubemba nkonko instead of denting our tribe with a bisa regarded as our outcast in the sense of a Bemba caste? Always on the wrong side of history and opportunities.
Tu sapotafye ifinangwa in all election. Nga te Chama chakomboka, ni basata. But where to with our confusion and poverty.Mubuposa amabwe tamwaba ubusambaship but ubupinafye.Unless Ba Bishop Mpundu ebatukwele candidate, tapali oko tuleya nga nibasata for us.Twasebana pafula nefinangwa tu sponsor fwebena lubemba.
I understand the urge of posting in your mother tongue especially if oneis passionate about the subject. However, it is poitnless to post your comment in a lnaguage which only some of the people actually understand. Even those that don’t understand your language deserve to learn from you so let us try as much as possible to post our comments in English. Otherwise we will soon have all sorts of mother tongues and that will defeat the purpose for which this blogsite exists.
GO TO HELL YOU SO CALLED REV.
He’s correct about over active church men but wrong on other fronts. leaders are not appointed by god, let’s leave god out of politics, some of our leaders are a disgrace and they need to know that fact. only problem is we do things in confrontational manner both govt and anti-govt groups. also learning a skill doesn’t make u an employer, we need jobs after learning skills.
Reverend or whatever you call yourself. Hom much has MMD paid?. Shame on you!!!
Yaba! Some more PF cadres on this website. Now they have even resorted to posting in Bemba. Its no wonder they say PF is for Bemba’s and UPND is for Tonga’s. This is very true!
naba mishita fye? nga umutulo mutulila te sambi? muleiba ubushiku elo aka suba muliba “some of us” holier than thou! akalenifye dadi epo tatula misebanya.
