NGOs under fire for alleged money laundering
Government has disclosed that about eight Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) are being investigated by the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) for money laundering activities.
Speaking in Lusaka, Home Affairs Minister, Lameck Mangani said he could not disclose the names but investigations are in process.
Mangani said he has welcomed calls by Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) to investigate NGOs and ensure that all those found wanting are prosecuted.

james banda i like your comment…everyones artitude has to change if we are to develop
The minister should not be involved at all with investigations of money laundering. it should have been dec announcing this news, maybe they are still searching certain body parts for drugs
Iwe, how much do you want from me inorder to publish my posting on Nawakwi? tawishibe no corruption? Maybe yoy have gone for lunch, I will wait for you to come back.
Evidently this is a good initative but it should not be politicised
inlude Lifwekelo and his tu ma friends
Excuse me, but is it true that NGO employees’ salaries don’t get taxed? If this is true, then the ZRA should look into this. Some charities are exempt from paying taxes but that does not mean that the employees should also avoid paying PAYE. ZRA should put in a mechanism to ensure all NGO employees are registered with the Authority. There is too much income not being taxed out there and you are busy concentrating on a few employees, which is quite unfair
James Banda,
You are more than very right.I feel da same.As if we are a cursed nation.I cant wait to have an opportunity to leave these usless leaders we have.too much pettyness and all they want is to be praised.Who is Mangani or what is mangani to be praised.WACHOKA KUCHIPATA and ou want to always talk about useless things.Shame on you Mangani!
they should start with Kelvin Sampa’s one man show, then move onto Citizen’s Forum and then Thabo Kawana. these are the NGOs which dont have a purpose in Zambia.
Lets concentrate on developmental issues people
Zambia is a very bad country to live in. Full of trivial issues, useless politicians and docile citizens.
What a country.
Start with TZI
and I guess the culprits are the ones that are most critical of gvt, an excuse to now close them down.
