Kunda says TIZ shouldn’t appear in parliament

Parliament yesterday unanimously ratifed the appointment of Abyudi Shonga as Attorney General.

Mr Shonga was until his ratification Solicitor General and Acting Attorney General.

And vice president George Kunda has accused Transparency International Zambia of presenting falsehood to the Parliament Select Committee when they appeared before the committee appointed to scrutinize Mr Shonga’s appointment.

Mr Kunda told parliament when he winded up debate on the motion to ratify the appointment of Mr Shonga, that Transparent International Zambia was the only organization that opposed the appointment of because of falsehood and misinformation.

He said such organizations should never be allowed to appear before the parliamentary committees.

I stopped reading Lusaka Times because of the insults and intolerance bloggers used to exhibit there. Please let’s not bring that to ZWD. Every person has a right to their oppinions regardless of who they support. What some see as light, others see as dark and vice versa. That’s how this life we live is!

  2. Mugungulu H. Mwaanga says:

Yambayamba, your lack of understanding Holy Scriptures even though you claim to is evident in your useless write ups.

The Holy Bible records that “Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God,” in Matt 22:29 and I repeat the words to you today Yambatamba.

I therefore challenge you to show the “fake” or “hatred” of whatever form that you are implying so that I cut you nicely to your size. Just are reminder, all I have expressed in my writings are facts, e.g., Mr PF/MC Sata is an ex-convict for he has acknowledged being in prison with the elder brother to Mr Ngoma – who revealed the convict-ness of Mr Sata MC.

Come on show me what you are made of!

  3. Yambayamba says:

    Mugungulu H. Mwaanga:

Believe you me, I do understand the truth. But I also know “hatred” and “fake” when I see it!! And you don’t have to stretch your immagination what I really think about your attitude and behaviour, brother.

A little introspection will do miracles for your sanity my friend—-I can only hope you take me up on this one sooner rather than later!!

  4. Mugungulu H. Mwaanga says:

Yambayamba, you are a real spinning character because of failure to understand simple truth.

I have always been very clear that I am a Seventh-Day Adventist Christian but you chicken-headlessly try to make it appear as if I once wrote the contrary.

As for Mr PF/MC Sata, I love him so much that I need him to change his bad ways — thus the constructive criticism.

I also urge you to re-read the Holy Scriptures to clear up your terrible misconceptions about anything I do and the entire SDA community.

    Have a good day chief.

Ba Manda do you also have a Degree in Economic history or is it just because you’re a Manda. Rupiah all is life has never delivered anything positive, hes a very lucky failure who happened to be born at a time when education was just setting in and so he got a job as a Governor etc and also very lucky that he got appointed as veep just when LEVY was about to depart this side of sea. Hes currently doing exactly what he used to do at ABZ abusing the system.

  6. Zulu MM says:

The Constitution does NOT bar anyone from taking part in any public activity of our parliament. I guess Kunda has an ineffective brain

  7. Ku Masangalatoni says:

    Abyud Shonga is Lupiya’s nephew!

  8. manda says:

Ba grade 7 who can not even prove yourselves by working outside or improve Kitwe nefiko usually mislead people by useless writings.why? Even this topic of Sata has become useless because of wasting time debating how you are going to eradicate cholera but just busy on writing things out of topic.Lets respect the leaders and let them deliver simple as that. When ever the current leadership goes wrong please help by correcting not insults.Even Sata as a human being should be respected.

  9. Piquet says:

MR EDITOR, NO NEWS THE WHOLE DAY? NINSHI NINJALA?

  10. Yambayamba says:

Sorry, in my posting below, the word “representation” should read “misrepresentation”. I wouldn’t say such a blanket statement about the entire SDA church. The church I am very familiar with. Please excuse my typo. Thanks!!

  11. Yambayamba says:

    Mugungulu H. Mwaanga says:

This character calling himself “Mugungulu H. Mwaanga” sounds very familiar. He may change his “blog-name” to try and disguise himself, but his MO is the same—-Sata this, Under-educate that, HH the ‘saint’ this, blah, blah, blah—-what a load of c.rap!! Politicians will be politicians, not Saints. Sata has his own faults, so does HH. And you, Mugungulu H. Mwaanga, if you are as smart as you think, should recognise this simple fact.

Stop being so hateful! If I am not mistaken, I remember you revealing that you are an SDA member. If I am correct, your attitude and sense of being holier than thou is a representation of what I know about the SDA church teachings. I know this because I have been around the most devoted SDA church members my entire life. In fact, one of my brothers is a very senior Pastor and leader in the SDA church. You are a betrayal to the Church’s and the Bible’s teachings. Your hatred comes out loud and clear in your comments. Please remember that the sins of Sata, or the “saintly” attributes of HH, will never rub-off on you and cause you to lose or gain an ounce of favour from God towards your salvation—-Repent, repent, and I repeat, repent!!

To top it off, you masquerade as a bible guru, but man! with all the hatred this you exhibit towards certain fellow Zambians (e.g. M.C. Sata), I wonder why your so called saviour doesn’t vomit right in your face! Oops, I forgot, GOD is LOVE, right?! That is why. Love your enemies and, the part that calls for humility, does not seem to exist in your Scriptures—-I wonder which version of the Bible comforts you!!

Stop thinking too highly of yourself for nothing. In God’s holy name, why do you usually get off on these tangents that have nothing or little to do with the topic at hand? This shows the caliber of the man (if you can be called that) we are dealing with here. Quit acting like an EDUCATED F.O.O.L running around like a “HEADLESS CHICKEN” (to borrow Nawakwi’s words)!!

Fellow bloggers, I apologise in advance. But some people deserves a little bit of tongue lashing!!

  12. Kibakimani says:

ZWD, are we together? One item for the whole day?

  13. Yambayamba says:

    lopa:

I completely second your comments on this one. Well said!

Why govt officials always think that anyone who opposes them or their hand-picked stooges should be labeled ENEMY OF THE STATE is beyond comprehension.

Welcome to DEMOCRACY all you Fidel Castro/Muammar Gaddafi admirers!

And what makes him think that Parliamentarians who sit on these committees are imbeciles who can’t separate truth from falsehoods. Isn’t it their duty to do so? It is not up to the VP to hand-pick who should appear before the Parliamentary Select Committees. There are other pertinent and serious issues the VP needs to expend his energies on than being petty and lowering himself and the office he holds.

In a Democracy, people will speak their minds, get used to it, George!!!

  14. Bush & Blair - War Criminals says:

Mr Nkunda, let people express thier views, afterall thats what democracy is all about.

  15. K K says:

    Realistic,
Infact Mwaanga is better but as for you ,you are simply an a.s.s.h.o.l.e.!

  16. Alistoto says:

I have decided to be setting my own agenda because ZWD does not want me to participate on sensetive issues, for instance I posted 2 or so contributions on Nawakwi which were not published.

  17. monalisasyndrome says:

At the expense of being offside, I reckon that 2011 is the end of the guarantee period.

  18. Alistoto says:

Zambians have very high expectations from who ever will be given a contract to govern Zambia starting in 2011 .( The months are crusing) Those that cant deliver will automatically fall out of the race.

Throughout the period that we have been with MMD, every Zambian including those that have never been to school have been assessing the performance of MMD on a daily basis. End of assessment ends this year.

Every Zambian, including Watch Towers , have a checklist written on his/her heart. All meaningful tasks that are supposed to be done over a given period of time by that a party in power are clearly tabulated on that task list.

On the task list are, alleviation of poverty, job creation, good health facilities, good sanitation, reduction in illiteracy levels, good shelter

These tasks are the basics needs of every humanbeing according to Ablams Maslows of Hierachy, No one will think of self actualisation without graduating form this basic leve. And what Zambians are asking for is a basic need to be fulfilled.

It will be difficult for anybody in power to scrape through for another term if he failed to deliver goals when he was given the chance. He had control of everthing, except the sun, so, why did he fail to deliver? If he has not been able to deliver and is asking for another term, what garantee is there that he will deliver?

  19. goodwell says:

    monalisasyndrome oh yes

  20. monalisasyndrome says:

goodwell. Your views would support my observation that occassionally, especially on a ‘Friday njikata’ like today and before a few pints of Mosi, a breathless diatribe against the idiocy of some unschooled people whose literacy skills are grossly deficient would be befitting. Let us stick to the topic at hand, shall we?

  21. Mugungulu H. Mwaanga says:

KAPATAMOYO and countryboy including others, I seriously appreciate your positive comments by what worries me is that there are characters that are quick to insult me or others for no apparent reason for we write our own opinion(s).

Mr Sata MC and the catholic Church are busy unfolding their character to the whole world and them being public figure and institution respectively fall under scrutiny.

All I have written is on the public domain and Mr Sata MC including Catholic Church leaders have issues statements which invite my discourse.

Mr Sata MC is on record that he indeed shared a prison cell with the said Mr Ngoma but why is he not telling us what led to his imprisonment?

Back to the TIZ and ratification news, my earlier input is that we need ratification even for would-be Head of State and Mr Sata MC of the PF falls short on moral and criminal character. However, Mr MC Sata has an opportunity to clear his name by telling the Zambian public what he has been doing in his life time so that if he is clean then I can support him just like Mr Shonga enjoyed support from those who offered it save the TIZ.

    Have a good day all.

  22. goodwell says:

SURE SURE you speak a lot of sense bra. one thing i fail to understand is why there is always shooting in the air when it comes to commenting. like you have ably put it “THE ISSUE HERE IS WHAT INFO DID TIZ PRESENT TO PARLEY. SHOULD PEOPLE AND ORGANISATIONS JUST BE RUBBER STAMPS?” but you get some pipo talking about tribalism, criminals, the catholic church, the pact and so on. I then wonder am i going to learn anything from the arguments put foward? i always come to this site to read pipo’s views on certain issues but in most cases i leave with nothing but junk. I say this because someone like Wife Thief has asked a simple question to say “Is their anyone out there who kows what the alleged falsewood is?And any ideas on who is being lined up for Solictor General?” but no one has attempted to answer this but some pipo have gone on to start talking about something totally different. A may be a culprit as well but i think we should be able to take a big step and do things more rationally and proffessionally. All of us have natural hatred for certain charecters, tribes, races and organisations but i feel that should not stop us from being objective. i would ratheri keep that hatred to myself. Some of you are highly intelligent pipo but i feel you are letting yourselves and fellow bloggers down.

  23. countryboy says:

    Mr. Mwaanga

Please my brother differentiate catholic church and Sata, the church can never endorse one candidate in the name of Sata merely because one of the 10 bishops in Zambia is a mulamu to sata. Please be sober on that even if you are SDA or whatever church. The other points any way they are well articulated for any genuine zambian to comprehend.

  24. Ndiyo Na Salt Palibe says:

Readers searching for informative, fair and balanced reporting of the MMD party or Rupiah Banda’s Government will do well to stay away from the Post. For a paper that bills itself as an independent and “truth digger”, it is disappointing to see their blind support for Michael Sata( a Convicted Criminal) and the bandwagon of people seeking to exact revenge on innocent citizens. The paper’s fierce denunciation of Rupiah Banda(which is clearly misplaced) has nothing do with the welfare of Zambians, but that Rupiah Banda refused to hand over power back to the bantubotatwe circles after the death of Levy Mwanawasa. We saw how the adoption of Mr Banda as MMD candidate ignited a firestorm in the Bantubotatwe interest groups who felt Levy’s death had short-changed them.Interest groups include TIZ.

  25. KAPATAMOYO says:

How Mwaanga tries hard to arrest people’s minds, and turn them away from the matter at hand.

The characters Mwaanga introduces in the article are completely forced there; they have no relationship to the Kunda/TIZ lead story. Shouldn’t we be happy Mwaanga is no journalist? otherwise s/he would plunge the nation into very deep waters.

Mwaanga is so obsessed with character defamation, and hopefully will not end up being sent to jail for this.

Mwaanga’s use of Sacred Writ is absolutely out of context and is irrelevant to the story.

Lastly, Mwaanga does not do a favour to The PACT/UPND or HH he has just “canonised” St. HH.

  26. SURE SURE says:

PLEASE PEOPLE, THERE IS NO NEED TO BE AT EACH OTHERS THROATS. LET US STICK TO THE TOPIC. THE ISSUE HERE IS WHAT INFO DID TIZ PRESENT TO PARLEY. SHOULD PEOPLE AND ORGANISATIONS JUST BE RUBBER STAMPS? INFORMATION IS VITAL ESPECIA LLY IF THE COIN IS FLIPPED AS WELL.!!!

  27. Mugungulu H. Mwaanga says:

Realistic greetings. I just saw your serious contribtuion.

Please, just understand that some characters are sent to write pathetic things, by the devil or the devil’s agents.

    Hav a blessed day all.

K K boss the best you can do is advise some of these pipo to try and think when they write. everything is all about MCS and PF. Ibet even when their children fail their grade 9 or 12 exams they will blame MCS and the catholics. For me i will try to just advise them to think first and if they dont i will watch them go mad. dont be emmotional my brother some pipo are insane or in the process of going mad.

  29. Mugungulu H. Mwaanga says:

Greetings to you K K. Firstly, your emotional outbursts only show how ill-motivated you are.

As for your “… your morally upright person has decided to go in a pact with a ‘corrupt, uneducated and criminal’ in the name of SATA.The question that begs a simple answer from you is WHY,” I would like you to find time to arrange for a meeting to ask UPND president and presidential candidate that silly question since HH already mentioned in the press that UPND and PF alone can not dislodge the MMD from power due to many factors.

On your “I doubt if you are a pact member!Dont even hide yourself in Sheep’s clothing you evil man. What are you going to do if the pact settles for SATA?” This is utter ignorance on your part because I have been clear in all my postings that I am not a member of the mighty UPND or any other political party in Zambia and elsewhere on this Earth. Thus, I am not a “pact member” if but a UPND-PF PACT sympathiser since it has the capability of relieving Zambians from the MMD’s mirule of Zambia that Mr PF/Sata MC is and was part of. Having written that, I now repeat after writing many times about this that should the PACT choose Mr PF/Sata MC as their PACT presidential candidate then I will vehemently decampaign the PACT everywhere I can across Zambia and support the MMD’s candidate even if that MMD candidate will be grandparent Mr President Rupiah Bwezani Banda (probably Rupiah return/retain Banda as President of Zambia).

On my Christian standing, do not worry for it is in the good and capable hands of God my Creator and not in your terrible head.

    Be blest and benign all.

  30. Realistic says:

    KK,
You are so emotional.Stop farting an get your small head out of the sand.

  31. Mandingo says:

Whose idea is this? I’ve been to the cop shop a number of times and not once have i seen a computer. and to hear we have a cyber crime unit is unbelievable. lets be honest with ourselves gentlemen, we have no capacity to monitor porn on the net.

  32. K K says:

    Mwaanga.
Here goes the fool again. You know wat i find your analysis very very foolish indeed.First of all , your morally upright person has decided to go in a pact with a ‘corrupt, uneducated and criminal’ in the name of SATA.The question that begs a simple answer from you is WHY.Thats why I find you foolish in your comments because even HH is privy to these unfounded allegations of yours andyet he is on record as saying that PF or UPND cannot make it own there own,so what are you talking about you useless tribalist.I doubt if you are a pact member!Dont even hide yourself in Sheep’s clothing you evil man. What are you going to do if the pact settles for SATA?and who are you to be more wise than all people who SATA’s followers!there are intelligent pipo who have seen wiseness in SATA and yet you crap is busy Scandalising him..Foolish boy!

  33. Whose idea is this? says:

ZAMBIA Information and Communication Technology Authority (ZICTA) public relations manager Ngabo Nankonde has said the authority has engaged cyber crime experts at the Zambia Police Service to monitor people who watch pornography on the Internet.
During a public forum in Serenje on Wednesday, Nankonde said the Zambia police had formed a cyber security team, which would look at all those involved in watching pornographic materials on the Internet.
The penalty fee for those who would be found guilty was K36 million or a jail sentence of 10 years.
“So for those of us who might receive pornographic materials just delete them upon receiving because when you are found in possession of these materials you will be arrested because ignorance is no defence under the laws of Zambia,” she said.

  34. Mugungulu H. Mwaanga says:

Good and such is what is required for characters to occupy sensitive public offices.

On another note, the 2011 candidacy issue of either UPND president and presidential candidate HH or undereducated ex-convict PF leader MC Sata issue of the UPND-PF PACT has made me to reflect on the Holy Bible record where the people of Jerusalem was asked by Pilate as to whom the people wanted to be released in the following scriptures:

    John 18

18:38 Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault [at all].

18:39 But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?

18:40 Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.

While I do not want or need to make president HH appear like Jesus Christ in the above Bible record and Mr Sata MC as Barabbas the robber, there are lessons in that story that can guide the Zambian electorate in the 2011 elections.

UPND’s HH is clean of any moral or corrupt case as of today while Mr PF/Sata MC is a confirmed former criminal case convict at our Mukobeko Maximum Security Prison because he has not denied the allegation by a Mr Ngoma whom he shared the prison cell with and Mr Sata has had extra-marital immoral activities with a known woman and possibly other women in looking at his previous and so on wives.

Some 79 Chekwe contributor in a Lusaka Times (LT) thread “Zambia: Catholics’ conduct forced me to expose Sata-Ngoma” put up nice points which included “Here we are again 18 month or so from elections still fooling ourselves with Sata a bisa born of Nuacusa in Mbeya for President. What if he grows cold on making oath before the Chief Justice over his forged degree and that plus an injunction against his criminal record holds? ” Surely Zambians have been presented with the best (HH) and the worst (Mr Sata MC) for decision 2011 to support as UPND-PF PACT presidential candidate and sadly the support from Bembas on this blog and elsewhere is towards Mr Sata MC when they clearly know that this is bad for Zambia just by looking at Mr PF/Sata MC’s past and present record.

I therefore humbly appeal to all Zambians to serious consider what is best for our personal lives — non-Bemba by tribe, ex-Mukobeko-Maximum-Security-Prison-convict, always inconsistent undereducated PF self-appointed leader MC Sata or an nicely educated and morally uplift Zambia who embraces all people from all walks of life HH to lead the PACT as it goes for 2011 tripartite elections.

Brothers and sisters, let us not let the Roman Catholic Church which is headed in Rome to dictate to us who must be our Zambian President. Let us support those who have shown that they have capacity to do the best for all Zambians. Let us support a leader who will stand up to defend the Constitution of Zambia instead of one who openly said, in the 2008 president by-election campaigns, that he was going to behave contrary to the Constitution of by being Zambian President for 5 yrs if he was mistakenly elected President even though his term is affected by the end of the National Assembly in 2011 through dissolution of Parliament.

Have a blessed day and make useful analysis which is better for your lives than let a former convict of a criminal offence that could have led to his being dismissed from the Northern Rhodesian Police to rule Zambia.

  35. lopa says:

All appointments that require the ratification of Parly go to a Parliamentary Selected Committee on Appointments. Parly in its wisdom will recieve reports on such appointments including security clearance, professional standing etc…all that information is available to the Select Committeee for them to make an ‘informed’ decision.

In those guidelines I am not aware of any provisions that require for all those who participate in the process to follow others blindly and endorse a proposed appointment. It is for them to avail the committee as much data that they may have in opposing a candidate. It is then incumbent on the Select Committee to scrutinze all the data before it before they reach a final decision.

What I find unprofessional or irrational is for the Vpee who no doubt had the priviledge to have access to all and such data to disclose who took what position..do you think Shonga will be independent in proferring an a legal opinion on matters pertaining to TIZ..or is George prempting a move to deregister TIZ?

  36. Splaka says:

Isn’t it illegal to produce false evidence in parliament? I listened to the news yesterday and what Kunda was saying did not make much sense. If TIZ did anything untoward, the Speaker would have censured them.

And the man was clever enough to make that statement in parliament because he can’t be sued for it. Why he was not curtailed by the speaker is beyond me

  37. Mandingo says:

can news organisations refuse to publish stories which are incomplete, this is not a soap opera which requires unnecessary suspense. what did tiz say?

  38. zuze says:
