Zambian President Rupiah Bwezani Banda will be the ‘best man’ of Malawi leader Bingu wa Mutharika when he weds with former tourism minister, Callista-Chapola Chimombo on April 17, according to a Malawian publication , Nyasa Times.
According to a source in the organising committee, Zambian leader accepted to best man role at the presidential wedding when he met Mutharika recently.
A few weeks ago, president Banda flew to Malawi and returned the same day but no details of the visit were made public. It seems that he went for rehearsals.
“Zambia President will be the best man at President Mutharika’s wedding,” disclosed a source.
There are other heads of state and government coming to the wedding of the Malawi leader who is also chairman of Africa Union for 2010 to 2011.
Those expected include close political ally of Mutharika, Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe.

For those of us that know the first lady to be, we would say that President Mutharika has made the right choice. The womon he has chosen will certainly be a source of pride and inspiration for every one.

Banda is delegating because he is now affraid to fly. When news about the Polish presindent reached him, “the boy in him” who loves to play was cast out.I can’t imagin Banda among all people remaining in Lusaka when a wedding is taking place in Malawi by a fellow wa khumawa.Banda is just enjoying his last days, looking at his age, not that he has anything to offer Zambia.

msana wanzili thanks and I appreciate much. In relation to this one thread, thank God, it appears that finally President RB Banda has now relaxed his travels in and out of the country and will be delegating others to represent him as presented in “President Banda will be within the country on the day of the wedding… Meanwhile, First Lady Madam Thandiwe Banda will travel to Malawi to represent the President at the funeral of former Cabinet Minister of Malawi, Dr. Aleke Banda who passed away last week in South Africa. Dr. Banda, a veteran politician, was a close friend of President Banda. The First Lady will be accompanied by Tourism and Natural Resources Minister Hon. Catherine Namugala, MP” by Mr Dickson Jere in the parallel topic.
Credit be given to UPND president and 2011 presidential candidate HH for the constant attack on the seeming hobby of Mr President of travelling around the world. Hats off to Zambian Watchdog also for publicising this story that led to this counter that I am now enjoying.
Have a blessed.

What exactly would be wrong for President Banda to be a best man at the wedding of his friend the president of Malawi? Because you are president does not mean you cant have a personal or social life. I fail to see what the problem is. Why do Zambians like to be over-dramatic over nothing?

He lied when he told the nation that he had gone to discuss The AU with Mutharika in Malawi. Are wedding rehearsals part of AU business?

Why is it that in Zambia we can not go on the street and fight to remove foolish leaders like in other countries? We can’t just be sitting an complaining without doing anything. Surely this wastage by RB is unacceptable.

Is Mutharika going to foot the bill or it’ll be passed on to the Zambian people? This man is not normal, he’s going to waste thousands of Dollars on a very useless trip the money that would have been used to buy incinerators in our clinics. Whats wrong with this old man’s head? he behaves as if he’s demon possessed, he’s abusing that jet it hardly gets serviced before he jumps in to nowhere. One day something will have to give in and I’ll shed no tear, am sorry.
