Patriotic Front(PF) Mandevu Member of Parliament (MP) Jean Kapata has appealed to the Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) to tone down its Lusaka Province Chairman William Banda.
Speaking in an interview in Lusaka, Kapata said the country is in confusion because of people like Banda.
Meanwhile, PF spokesperson Given Lubinda said his party is not agitated by Banda’s position in the MMD.
Lubinda said Banda id deceiving the party to make them think they are still popular in urban areas, adding that the PF will never lose its strongholds.
UPND spokesperson Charles Kakoma said Banda is full of deceit is no threat at all.
Kakoma urged Banda to desist from his disparaging remarks as they not help the MMD gain lost fame.
I like this “Patriotic Front(PF) Mandevu Member of Parliament (MP) Jean Kapata has appealed to the Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) to tone down its Lusaka Province Chairman William Banda… Speaking in an interview in Lusaka, Kapata said the country is in confusion because of people like Banda” sense from PF’s Jean Kapata for once. I hope Mr W. Banda will check his rate of doing things badly.
On “Meanwhile, PF spokesperson Given Lubinda said his party is not agitated by Banda’s position in the MMD” this is good for PF. As for “Lubinda said Banda id deceiving the party to make them think they are still popular in urban areas, adding that the PF will never lose its strongholds” I am surprised that Mr PF’s MP Lubinda with all his experience how UPND lost Lusaka Town as its stronghold can make sure a statement even in the face of UPND’s claim recently that it is the most popular party in Lusaka.
With regard to “UPND spokesperson Charles Kakoma said Banda is full of deceit is no threat at all” I hope the mighty UPND Group is aware of some truth in Mr MMD’s W.Banda’s activities. “Kakoma urged Banda to desist from his disparaging remarks as they not help the MMD gain lost fame” is good but do not be complacent UPND Group in the wake of PF’s Lubinda comments about stronghold loss.
Have a blessed day all as I wish PF all the best in its planned elections countrywide and hopefully a convention where Mr PF/Sata MC has promised that members will be free to challenge his party leadership of so-called PF president – even though he as never been elected to that position meaning that he is just an interim leader from 2001 when PF was created upto today.

WILLY Banda be carefull we shall soon send you back to malawi, do you remember that sack (50kg) were we transported you to the airport, it was because of this behave.now we will use a 25kg since we don’t have the 50kgs.
This William Banda chap has grown big heaed. We shall deport you back to Malawi next year you fool if you are not careful
William Banda is a threat to the PACT and am enjoying it. Volcanologist was informed by inside PACT sources that the defection of PF/UPND members to MMD are real and they are feeling the heat in Lusaka Province. William Banda, don’t relent, soldier on and capture numbers which will advantage your party when consolidated together country wide in 2011. If you can capture even 1,500 voters from the PACT camp in so called their urban stronghold, thats a plus. But you are over capturing William Banda naiwe making Jean Phiri, Lubinda and Kakoma cry foul. Its politics at its best and William Banda on the driving seat to over take Lusaka Provinc.I admire your political mobilisation skills cos it takes lots of courage. Keep it up.
@ Mugungulu H. Mwaanga you always talk negative on PF and a very religious supporter of the UPND. Your tone has and is to demonise the PF as a monister. You can say anything but that does and will not change it’s popularity anyway. we should bring to the fore real issues other than your irational sentiment without substance.Dear bro be real as opposed to making unsubstanciated claims which do not hold any water. The perceived defections you are hearing about are not a true reflection of the majority Lusaka residents. Even my blood sister from Mandebvu constitution was among the recent defectors who are normally paid out money as a glatitude of appreciation for accompanying her friend. The reality is that people will always be there whenever there is cash to be dished out after all it’s their tax money.Let us carry out an opinion poll based based on the majority voters in the compounds and see the most popular candidate on the ground.
What PF/UPND bloggers are missing is that fact that they have the support in Lusaka. But lossing some members through the efforts of William Banda to MMD in Lusaka might disadvantage you. Imagine MMD through William Banda capturing 10,000 votes or more and adding them to their votes from their stronghold too put Serpent Cobra Sata on the perpetual crying spree each election year. Learn from past elections voting whose pattern is likely not to change much in 2011.
Is william Banda Normal?
It makes me wonder whether William Banda is Zamian. Only a foreigner can treat Zambians the way this man does, right from UNIP time. That is why FTJ deported him. Levy exefcised mercy to him but he has no mercy for others.
Volcanologist you are just as stupid as William Banda your mentor and godfather. How can a sensible person support William Bandas senseless activities. Of all the people in Zambia, he is the only one on record to have been deported by MMD, not any other party. Today you, the same puppets, who deported him, are embrassing his shameful activities? and praising him for his childish and notoroius behaviour? This chap is a menace not only to the opposition, but the ministers as well. He has no respect for his seniors in MMD. He in the world of his own because of too much dagga smoking. When did this chap renounce his Malawian citizenship anyway?
banda shud be deported pliz!!
It’s sad to see some of you guys support the actions of Mr. Banda
You may be in the same party but his bad actions should be condemned. His type of politics is divisive and the tone is always of violence. We have clearly gone beyond his level of thinking. The mentality of some bloggers here amazes me because they will support anything as long as today is OK for them. No wonder we have senior citizens who are now destitutes as if they had not seen good days while they were young or in office! Support programs that build everyone not just yourself.
I wanted to hear you Alistoto if only i praise William Banda. I know thats the only time you can react to my blogg. So how are you suffering blogg? Politics is for kwangalaz like William and Serpent Cobra Sata whose action are more than Shaka Zulu’s impis, violence and saddistic. In Zambia, politics is about violence not until such a time when Alistoto and Volcanologist take the reign of power. But politics is rough pa Zed and never to join such.
Musalu Wali Pesamba you sound most mature. If only the MMD blogers could see things this way with the objectivity that such serious and far reaching issues deserve.
From the number of CV’S recieved so far for at FAZ house , i guess Kalu and his team should do a thourough research on these applicants, we need a coach who shall take zambian football to high levels not local coaches twakana….Please announce the shortlisted candidates early cos..we need to prepare for CHan and AFCON competitions.
‘tone down Banda’…..nice zenglish. So what do the MMD need to do to ‘tone’ him?
Fenduze. You seem to have an affinity for foreign coaches, ah? Have foreign coaches performed any better than our local coaches as regards the national team? Has the SA national team(Bafana Bafana) performance improved over the past months after being under the tutorship of two foreign coaches? Was Egypt’s superb perfomance at the just ended AFCON in Angola attributable to a foreign coach? Did’nt Malawi play better football than Zambia at AFCON regardless of the nationality of their coach?
Unless we find a correct diagnosis to our dwindling soccer fortunes, we are doomed.
William Tekere Banda is clearly making the Pact Agitated. When Sata controlled the bus stations and markets in lusaka, LPM could not drive through cairo rd. The entire MMD machinery failed to counter this until The director intelligence advised the president to bring the last gorvernor of Lundazi and former UNIP national youth chairman william Tekere Back from exile. He was appointed political adviser at state house overseeing Lusaka, He established camp in Matero and in no time there was a violent clash between MMD and the once strong PF cadres, the post captured william Banda slapping a PF youth leader who had attempted to stone his vehicle that had packed where Sata was addressing people. The following week william assembled a team that went to City market where PF cadres were raising Cabbages as a mock to LPM. soon he recaptured the markets and buss stations for the MMD. During the chiluba trial he offerd street protection to FTJ against the PF sponsored cadres, During the Dora siliya tribunal he offered protection to Dora against the Post and PF sponsored cadres. From the day William offered his services to the MMD the once violent PF cadres have cried faul and taken william to court uncountable times with last one being harringtone. The question is do you expect unrully PF cadrs attacking innocent people in the name of Pabwato uncountered?
MRK – Corruption And Swindle At ZCCM-IH
Even though ZCCM-IH has significant share holdings in foreign mining company’s local mining operations, it is either not receiving, or worse receiving but not paying out dividends to it’s shareholders.
We already know that in an industry that officially makes over $2.5 billion in profits, the entire take for the Zambian revenuers for 2010 is estimated at a laughable $50 million.
Not content with swindling the Zambian taxpayers, the foreign mining companies also swindle their shareholders out of their legally obligated dividend payments.
Now of course, how much dividend are they going to pay of they are already evading taxes on a massive scale? The one seems to follow the other. If they were honest in their dividend payments (usually around 50% of profits), they would have to own up to how much profit they actually made. Which would show how much taxes they have been evading.
Their financial records are less than transparant and open. The interim financial report from 2006, published in 2008 is the most recent, and it doesn’t even open properly.
ZCCM-IH has not paid out any dividends, which is fraud. Either they are being defrauded by the mining companies and those companies are not paying ZCCM-IH dividends, or the directors and managers are keeping the dividends themselves.
Either way, the people of Zambia and in this case, the shareholders of ZCCM-IH are being defrauded out of their rightful money. And as ZCCM-IH is 86.6% owned by the government, the government is complicit in this fraud.
And this is interesting – the Finance Minister, Situmbeko Mosokotwane, is a director of ZCCM-IH. So he should know EXACTLY what is going on with this company and Zambia’s money.
Also interesting – ZCCM-IH is listed Eurenext in Paris, the London Stock Exchange and the Lusaka Stock Exchange. I wonder if embezzling dividends is actually illegal for companies listed at any of those exchanges.
According to MBENDI.CO.ZA, ZCCM-IH has the following share holding:
Konkola Copper Mines Plc – Chingola, Zambia (20.6%)
Copperbelt Energy Corporation – Kitwe, Zambia (20%)
Kansanshi Mining Plc – Zambia (20%)
Chibuluma Mines Plc Zambia – Zambia (15%)
Luanshya Copper Mines Plc – Zambia (15%)
Chambishi Metals Plc – Zambia (10%)

The names of the current non-executive directors as indicated below:
Mr A. J. Lungu – Non-Executive Chairman
Mr L. Ndalamei (Secretary to the Treasury)
Dr D. H. Kalyalya (Bank of Zambia deputy governor for Operations)
Dr G. M. Beene (mines ministry permanent secretary)
Dr S. M. Bwalya
Mr P. Mumba
Mr O. B. Munyenyembe (Mineworkers Union of Zambia (MUZ) secretary general)
I never knew that Godfrey (or is it Godwin) Beene was not only MP for Itehzi Tehzi, and head of the Parliamentary Estimates Committee, but that he is also Mines Ministry Permanent Secretary.
So as head of the Parliamentary Estimates Committee, he sent Secretary to the Treasury James Mulungushi packing because there was something he did not like about the Windfall Tax – which would have cost the mines money.
Hmmm…
This is what I remember that incident from, but I could not put it into context at the time:
(TIMES) Treasury officials sent packing
Treasury officials sent packing
By Times Reporter
THE parliamentary estimates committee yesterday sent back the team led by acting Secretary to the Treasury James Mulungushi because they did not present satisfactory explanations on the new mining tax regime. Dr Mulungushi was in the company of Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) Commissioner General and other senior members of staff from the Ministry of Finance and National Planning.
Dr Mulungushi and his team were asked to prepare a fresh report that would satisfy the committee chaired by Itezhi Tezhi MP Godfrey Beene, and present it by tomorrow. Mr Beene described the report by Dr Mulungushi as unsatisfactory and ordered him to prepare a fresh one, which should be presented before the committee by tomorrow.
Mr Beene told Dr Mulungushi that the committee members were not satisfied because the report left out key details of the proposed windfall tax on copper mines.
Dr Mulungushi had also said that Government plans to open a special account at the Bank of Zambia (BoZ) to keep the excess revenue from the mines.
Dr Mulungushi further said that Government has set up a committee to plan on how the projected revenue of US$415 million would be raised under the new tax regime.
This prompted the committee to question why the projected revenue of US$415 million was not included in the national budget. The committee argued that it is only parliament that has the authority to approve any expenditure and not the executive.
“As a committee, we are looking at the legal position on new mining tax and the position on the setting aside of the excess revenue and why is this money not included in the budget. We are disappointed because you have failed to give us the legal position on these important matters,” Mr Beene said.
I think things start to fall into place. The Mines have a reprentative among the board of directors at ZCCM-IH.

Your ideals are very poor.
Do you use political party cadres to keep the peace or is there a police system in the country?
Why do you support the use of violence and intimidation by Banda for something that GRZ police force is capable of doing if allowed to act independently.
Why have the police not been able to secure the streets and markets?
Are the police so weak they cant ACT?
Do the police arrest anybody?
ENGINES is a supporter of ANARCHY led by William Banda.
ENGINES loves threats and intimidation on Zambian citizens by an unlawful group of cadres.
ENGINES could not protect the constitution if his life depended on it.
