Stop abusing Mwanawasa’ name, RB advises HH

President Rupiah  Banda on Sunday appealed to politicians to avoid using the name of the late President, Levy Mwanawasa, to gain political mileage.

President Banda said he was shocked to read comments attributed to opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) leader  Hakainde Hichilema that President Mwanawasa was a good leader. He said  Hichilema and his supporters called the late President all sorts of names and refused to work with him when he was alive.

President Banda said the late President had asked to work with  Hichilema and the UPND when he was alive but the opposition leader refused, saying President Mwanawasa was an incompetent leader.  President Banda observed that Hichilema abused the late Mwanawasa when he was alive by constantly attacking his performance and personality.

“It was, therefore, surprising that Mr. Hichilema was now trying to exploit the name of the late President to advance his political career, reads a statement from presidsent Banda’ office.

President Banda said he has information that Mr. Hichilema has now agreed to be Vice-President of the UPND/PF pact, allowing the PF leader, Michael Sata, to be the presidential candidate in the forthcoming general elections in 2011. The President said that this was contrary to what Hichilema had promised the people of Southern Province. He said it was clear that  Hichilema has now become very desperate and power-hungry to the extent that he has forgotten what he used to say about the  late President Mwanawasa.

President Banda, however, advised Hichilema that the people of Southern Province have the right to choose a leader of their own choice.

“Mr. Hichilema cannot, therefore, decide on behalf of the Southern Province and impose his political preference for a President on them,’ said president Banda in an email statement sent from Nice, France where he is.

He said there was nothing wrong with the statement attributed to Parliamentary Chief Whip Vernon Mwaanga, that some Districts in Southern Province have resolved to support the ruling MMD. He said Hichilema is not the spokesperson of the people of Southern Province. Therefore, he should not impose his political views on innocent people.

Those who care about the welfare of the peoples of Southern Province have offered HH timely warning that his relationship with Sata will merely kill his political ambition. Major Chizyuka who hails from a District where Zambian politics were nurtured by our beloved Late Harry Nkumbula provided aunthentic advice that any association with Sata will spell doom for the people of Southern Province. If HH ever passed through the corridors of UNZA, he should have taken a foundation course that instilled and ignited intellectual appraisal of Zambian and international political history. Mazoka was brilliant as he attracted membership to UPND from a diversity of tribes in this country – but was cautious never to deal with Sata. As an intellectual, HH should have assessed Sata’s nature. The current multiplicity of political parties in Zambia was a creation of Sata’s greed for absolute power by exploiting his position as former MMD Secretary General, and used it to expel potential intelligent colleagues (Christon Tembo, Miyanda, Ben Mwila, Mazoka, Nawakwi etc) in the hope that he would wrestle the Presidence of MMD and Republican Presidency from Chiluba. If HH is an intellectual does he know who blew the trumpet to declare former President Kaunda as foreigner from Malawi – and hatched a plan to depot KK to Malawi, but the process thwarted by an alert President Muluzi? Yet Sata himself, as has been revealed earlier, is a Mwakyusa originating from Tanzania. Sata has no genetic roots in Mpika as his ignonarance tells him that he is Bemba, when the people of Mpika are actually Bisa whose royal clans belong to the “Bena- Ngona”. If HH is an intellectual, please read Zambian history and get informed. Read the trend in Luapula. It all stemed from Sata’s insults to Luapula MPs who propped up large numbers of Bemba-speaking electrolates who voted for him. Sata later insluted them left and rignt. HH you are lovingly advised to consider what is best the poeple of Southern Province. Seek polical alliances with people who will value your youthful energy in politics.

MMD will need to be more tactful in 2011 elections. With Luapula in the bag, MMD needs to pour more resources in “Mwanawasa” seats to turn that tribal tide that has been hanging over those areas. For instance people like Mpombo and Shakafuswa can be defeated with more financial resources in those renegade constituencies. The turncoat constituencies must be identified and funded accordingly to erase the existing intra part insurgence. MMD will need to “buy” some safe UPND seats in Southern Province. Remember when Sikota Wina was defeated by UPND in 2001? The same effects are needed on all identifiable insurgents within the MMD should they choose to stand with the opposition. This will be a vicious election campaign which will see HH virtually broke and going into exile with Sata. For those reasons, Chiluba should not keep quiet as being suggested by Mr Mpombo, Mpombo knows the political prowess of FTJ. MMD Victory in 2011 is fait accompli!!!

MMD will need to counter machinations of the rightwing Press by positioning itself to destroy those lies and innuendoes being purveyed by the Post. MMD must people who can write and they have nothing to lose.

    Quezu,

Just to correct you on one misnomer. Mmembe’s sublevel Marxism he endeavors to impressionistically postulate as an urban legendary in politics is nothing but pure leftist and never with traits of rightwing trajectory.

It lacks a tangible space or dialectical toll in war of attrition. Surely it is defeatable subversion recklessly propagated. The MMD has so much capital, capacity and armor to systematically obliterate the so called Urban’s pitching meltdown from the bleachers.

HH will certainly go broke and become heavily indebted from some South African rightwing hedgers. This will be a historic election that will pull in immeasurable logistical flow.

They called Levy a cabbage, they called him incompetent, they called him a thug, they claimed his fight against corruption was a witch hunt, etc…. and today, HH & Sata want to call this dead man their hero!

The study of Zambian opposition politics is similar to the study of the African primate.

VETERAN – please write in English. The language you are using sounds like English but it is not.

About HH – I don’t even know why people are still talking about him. At the moment, HH is not presidential material. HH cannot run a country. He is too dull and ordinary for that post. So in fact for the first time HH has impressed me with the correct decision he has made by accepting to be Vice President of the PACT. It is rare for HH to make a brilliant decision like this. Sata may have his problems, but he is better suited to be a President than HH. However, I’m still not going to vote for the PACT because apart from making gibberish noise, I don’t hear them talking sensible policies for the country. It’d be a disaster to be ruled by the PACT.

Imwe ba RB, the man was just being diplomatic. We all know that Levy wasn’t that much of a leader. But what good will it do to talk ill of him? It is not in our culture to attack the departed. But levy was still a better leader than you by far. That does not mean he was an angel. It just means he was the best of the worst

It is a very disappointing moment to read “He said Hichilema and his supporters called the late President all sorts of names and refused to work with him when he was alive… President Banda said the late President had asked to work with Hichilema and the UPND when he was alive but the opposition leader refused, saying President Mwanawasa was an incompetent leader… Hichilema abused the late Mwanawasa when he was alive by constantly attacking his performance and personality” coming from the whole lot of a President of Zambia. Does President RB Banda mean that it was ok for president HH to accept to be MMD Levy Mwanawasa GRZ Admnistration as Vice-President of Zambia while Mr HH was an opposition leader for the UPND a thing that would have lead to Mr President RB Banda’s not being Zambian Vice-President and President subsequently after the death of late President LPM?

Can someone advise the President to carefully analyse issues before saying funny things to the whole World.

This ““Mr. Hichilema cannot, therefore, decide on behalf of the Southern Province and impose his political preference for a President on them,’ said president Banda in an email statement sent from Nice, France where he is” is equally nonsense because each person from from Southern Province is a Zambian who votes for him- or her-self alone for a candidate he/she sees fit to be Republican President of Zambia.

So let the MMD be careful in their statements because the mighty UPND Group does not own the Southern Province people neither do the people of the Southern Province own UPND.

    Have a blessed day all.
