Sata gives banned Malawian opposition TV/radio licence to broadcast from Zambia

Atupele Muluzi
Newly elected Zambia President Michael Sata has granted Malawi’s opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) a television broadcasting licence, UDF presidential aspirant Atupele Muluzi has confirmed to Malawian media.
The development means Joy-TV, which Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (Macra) denied local television broadcasts in 2007, will be beaming its programmes from Chipata in Zambia via satellite.
In an interview on Sunday, Atupele, who is son to former President Bakili Muluzi, said he forwarded his request when he had gone to congratulate President Sata on his election.
“When I went to convey my congratulations for the election, as you know that he is a long time old friend to former president Dr Bakili Muluzi, I was extremely well received by His Excellency [Sata] who knows well how the situation is here.
“I [therefore] did ask him if it was possible to allow us to be broadcasting from Chipata, a television which he accepted and he even informed our Malawi’s High Commissioner [David Bandawe] of that development,” Atupele said.
Last week Sata refused to attend the COMESA summit in Malawi saying he was a prohibited immigrant.
Why do you blame SATA as though he is the one that started all this , it was RB who asked his Friend the mouthfull of a name mathwierikatsa whaterver his name is the ( malawian president ) to intercept and deport Sata . with that in mind he did not evn too this day say sorry for thefrak up he did , and still snubs SATA , so to fix him Sata did what anyone wouod do is grant the oposition a permit to kick that monkey out of plot one in malawi , after all SATA is a family frioend to the Muluzi’s

You see, that is what it means to be a Kabova President!!
Why become enemies with Malawi?
No wonder the Malawian Government depoted him at that time from Malawi.
There was a GOOD reason.

Malawi issues should be left to malawians to sought out not us zambians meddling in them. We have got other issues also to solve such as the Barotse Agreement which Sata promised us the Linyungandamo at blue gum grounds.

I think Sata is underating Bingu, and he knows that he is toothless, if it was Bob Mugabe of Zimbabwe, he was going to flush him like a fly in yogurt. Sata is going too far in terms of taking his personal hatrage for others. Zambia as a nation was not part of his mischief of meeting his fellow opposition leader like Bakili Muluzi of Malawi. He went there in his own interest and not the interest of the nation. This man Sata is a dictator and a danger to the nation. In the Chiluba government we had a scandle of our army supplying arms to Savimbi’s rebels which led us into conflicts with Angola where our former minister of defense Chitalu Sampa in the chiluba regime was almost sluped in South Africa by a defense minister of Angola. I am surprised Sata never learnt a lesson even when he was number 3 in that regime and chief advisor. Our relation with Angola was only normalise by Levy Mwanawasa a man of peace. Mr Sata please never enter into other people’s politics, it is dangerous.

The friction between Sata and Bingu should not be turned into a national battle between Zambia and Malawi. Why should we ‘fight’ with Malawi simply because as a sovereign state they used their power and right to deport an opposition leader?

Its a good move Sata’s government has done to grant permission to set up a tv stn for the opposition in Chipata. Bingu wants to become like Kamuzu Banda and not exponse the the Malawians to the real truth of living and democratic governance. He wants to hold power like Mugabe. Zambia today is ahead of many african countries in terms of democracy. We are proud shining examples. For the central and southern africa to appreciate development and growth we need Dos Santos out, Museveni out, Mugabe out. They have over lived in power. Its not fair for the modern world we live in today. If possible PF should also give them TV licences as well..Lol! Am proud of Zambia with this new change. We are brave and smart but still remain under developed. Very poor people in Zambia cause we allowed corruption. Wait and see when public stealing is ceased. Zambia will be a place to reckon. All of the live overseas, we shall return since we were economically displaced. Keep doing the good Mr President.. Best wishes!!

As for PF with 60 elected and 8 nominated MPs, Simple mthematics show that 10 non PF MPs voted for our current speaker (78 votes in total).

This does not matter, but HH never won a seat in Lusaka and the Copperbelt which are very critical as an electoral college. I attended most of HH’s rallys in Lusaka He was deceived by the masses and was called the Zambian Obama.
Hey please Parliament is likened to the stomach, The Judicial as the lungs, the Executive as the head, and Education as the Brain. Please give SATA enough time, you HH were in opposition you went to the NCC you didnt work with your fellow PF opposition members. Today its strange to see you want to work with MMD. The lesson is simple here. Just debate with the zambin president to stop this so he can start working with the malawian government in promoting civil rights and not dealing with a political party. This is why MBingu will never appologize to the zambian president of the 2007 scandal. Sata was allied to Muluzi and Mbingu did not wait to deport him back to zambia, SATA KNOWS THIS VERY WEL ANT THAT IS WHY HE HAS BEEN DEMANDING FOR AN APPOLOGY TO SHOW HE IS A HERO.

ZICTA just deals with the technical feasibility in terms of frequency resource. The real license to output information to the public domain comes from Ministry of Info. & Broadcasting. Technically, there is no problem. However, I’m they will need pay Zambian govt for putting this station here via ZICTA and may be Ministry of Info.
So there is conflict here. Sata is has made a good move. Bingu is an evil has been breathing down his peoples nakes.

HH wwhen campaigning was saying RB was a very corrupt man. Today he is saying RB is clean. That is the reason this HH will never be a factor in Zambian politics. Zambians know him very well apart from the Tongas among whom he campaigns on sensational tribal sentiments. He has no seats in Lusaka Province, Copperbelt, Luapula, Central, Northern and Eastern provinces. His party has no national appeal.
HH is very corrupt. He stole so much money when he was in charge of the privatization of ZCCM. He has info that MCS will cage him together with RB and get back the Zambians money.

This current govt should be working with the govt of Malawi instead of the opposition. This is a gross abuse of power to allow such things. It also amounts to interference in Malawian affairs. Let the opposition of Malawi fight their own battles instead of getting support from PF. Zambia has suffered a lot in the past due to problems in other countries. Enough is enough.

It is foolishness to support such an idea! Zambia became poor out of helping these ungrateful neighbours. It is foolishness to be excited about Sata becoming president in Zambia and think we should extend his victory to Malawi. We are not a super power to make ourselves vanerable like this. Can you point to me what the following countries have done for Zambia upon successful assistance from Zambia; Zimbabwe, SA, Namibia, Mozambique. Look at USA a super power which helped remove Sadaam how embattled they are, what does Zambia have to be able to sustain foreign support.
