GBM rubbishes Masebo’s alarming statement on porous Zambian airspace

As the internal PF wrangles now threaten the peace and security of the country, Defence minister Geoffrey Mwamba has come out to rubbish the alarming statement from his Tourism counterpart, Silvia Masebo that foreign airplanes can freely enter and leave the country undetected.

According to the state owned but PF controlled ZNBC 13:15 news, Mr. Mwamba who himself is a culprit of previously issuing alarming statements, said it was not possible for any foreign aircraft to enter and leave the Zambian air space without detection.

Mr. Mwamba’s attempt to water down the security threat created by his counterpart Ms. Masebo, who is in the Winter Kabimba camp, comes after the reported panic by the Zambian security wings after she revealed that the Zambian airspace was so porous that foreign aircrafts were entering and leaving the country poaching government trophy.

It is so far not clear where the Commander in Chief and Head of State president Michael Sata is hiding when senior government and party officials are differing in public even on issues that endanger the country’s security situation.

And sources close to GBM said he was extremely furious with Masebo’s behaviour to undermine him in the name of fighting Winter Kabimba and Fred Mmembe’s battles that has now been extended to endangering the country’s security.

Sources with the PF and government said GBM was particularly annoyed with today’s Post newspaper editorial that has again questioned his integrity to hold his position as minister of Defence.

The editorial read in part :

“In 2012, the year that has just ended, we were able to listen to our leaders say about what they feel they are in government for, in politics for. Some have been very brazen about it. For instance, Geoffrey Mwamba has made it very clear that he is in politics to benefit, lift his businesses, which were troubled under the MMD government. That is what he said he is in government for. But he still is in government despite making this clear to the Zambian people and to the appointing authorities. What can the Zambian people reasonably expect from Geoffrey, having clearly stated his mission in politics and government. And what are the appointing authorities expecting from Geoffrey, given his personally stated mission in politics and government.”

Sources said GBM feels demeaned by the Winter camp that has now questioned the powers of the president who has appointed him to serve in government.

Why are the so called thieves being accepting into PF. Imagine even Namulambe was accused of stealing bicycles has joined PF. His case is still in court? It is for this reason that clearence has to be sought. This situation begs the question where is their boss? Is he under a tree somewhere in statehouse subdividing another province on paper with no real plans? Or is he swinging on the state house chair confirming our late president chiluba’s statement that power is sweet? All I can say is I hope he has seen the incompetence of GBM who was a total useless appointment inspiring absolutely no confidence. He shldnt evn say enything he just sounds pathetic. Ms masebo needs to be disciplined cause she has contravene protocal and as for the commander in chief pls sir be a leeader otherwise resign & for the sake of the nation stop hiding we didn’t force u to go to state house infact year upon year you hd byn begging us.

Same with our mineral resources and all we say is “arrest masebo”. Zambians this idiost will bring this country to it’s knees can we be clever pls. Is it our education system that is bad that we can’t even know what is right and wrong? Watching zed from out side you really wonder if you guys have been like this or you are now eating and smoking wrong stuff. Guyana - January 3, 2013
    14:17

    • Guyana,
The calls to arrest Masebo are in direct response to the arrest and charges against HH on issuing statements “like to cause alarm” but I also see your point in relation to the “mismanagement” of our natural resources. However, your argument seems to suggest that we would do better if we, as Zambians, took charge of the affairs of our copper and wildlife. That can’t be further from the truth and please let’s not conveniently forget our history as we look ahead in building our future. It is not long ago that ZCCM owned the mines in Zambia and can you tell me the state of the mines then. Low production rates, no investment (as all the returns were used to finance Govt etc) and no business planning whatsoever. We sell the mines and things start moving in the right direction and we start to complain that we are being robbed. It is without doubt that the mines are better off in private hands and all Govt needs to do is to tighten the loopholes, if any, to ensure maximum returns for the benefit of the nation.

        • Equally sensless response. Yes, I know that tribalism is rife in this PF government and it is mainly the bemba relatives of Sata who have been given posts and benefits all over. I bet you that even your funny ostrich with its head in the sand can ‘see’ the tribalism by Sata and his PF. What I do not like is to put assumptions in front of reality – Chulu! People have defined ‘ass-umptions’ as making an ‘ass’ out of you and me. Take care – Zambia is still ours.

  50. From day one up to the last day in 2016 it will be confusion and confusion – no direction as if we do not have a sole leader. Masebo must face the wrath of the law.
