A clergy man at St Johns Catholic Church in Kasama has complained over continued power outages in the area.
Fr Musonda Kaputula observed with disappointment that Kasama has continued experiencing power outages when Chishimba Zesco power Generation Station has the capacity to supply electricity to all residents.
Fr Kaputula said it is disheartening to have power outages when God has provided the district with all it needs to supply power to its people.
Fr Kaputula revealed that the power station has seven generators but only one is in operation which seriously and urgently needs to be looked into.
He called on government to come to the aid of the people of Kasama in Northern Province which has been receiving low voltage or none.
The Parish Priest lamented that continuous power outages are retarding development of the district.
He said even the millers, like Kasama Milling, are depending on diesel run generators.
And Zesco Northern Regional Manager, Yona Sichalwe, agreed that Chishimba was generation only 2 mega watts instead of 6 megawatts.
Mr sichalwe said the problem of outages is being looked into seriously by his company engineers.
He, however, said the machines at Chishimba are obsolete and need new ones.
I need Zesco power cuts here in my area coz I benefit from them

What do you need power for in Kasama. Nothing comes from that part of the country into the national treasury. Let electricity be used in productive parts of the country

@fjt – This show the type of baseless bitterness that you habour about bishop Mpundu. Note that if he so wishes to do what you want him to be doing, he cannot take a lady to the guest house for he is a well known person. He has all the places under your nose where he can do that without you knowing.

Do our dear Priests have any visions at all like TB J? Couldn’t this Father Kaputula fore-see that his Church was sponsoring and supporting a dysfunctional Party?

Idiots!!!!!!!!!!Am an enterprenuer in Ndola running a business which soley depends on power. These power outages have been sooooooo bad since this PF came into power.I thought under MMD it was bad too but this is worse off.I mean Zesco are the first people to come and knock on your doors demanding payment and even come with tools to shut you down if you dont pay immediately. When it comes to service delivery they are pathetic, you useless squampapas. Now, how do you expect us smes to meet our monthly obligations and pay our workers the minimum wage when you cut off power sometimes the whole day. This is what happens when there is no proffesionalisim in the running of these institutions.Where a CEO is hand picked by the president and the board have no say on him or her.If he or she makes a mistake, they cant be fired cos the board are not his/her appointing authourity.I mean where is coperate governance in this country. This is a shame,we are going nowhere. You paya farmers, now you want to paya small businesses which are supposed to be the engines for economic growth. There can only be one word for you lot “MUGS”
