Sata claims RB, opposition leaders seeking asylum in RSA

President Michael Sata has accused opposition leaders who went to South Africa to present a petition to the Commonwealth on the human rights abuses in Zambia of being in that country to seek criminal asylum.

Mr. Sata also claimed that former president Rupiah Banda is also seeking criminal asylum and that the Zambian government will extradite him from there.

Sata who only appears in public and addresses the nation during brief swearing-in ceremonies said this when he swore in ‘nominated’ MP Greyford Monde as the fourth deputy minister in the ministry of Agriculture.

Monde is former Itezhi Tezhi MP under UPND who has since been expelled for disrespecting party rules.

Mr. Sata who is probably not aware that UPND president Hakainde Hichilema is already in the country and was this morning among hundreds of people who attended the funeral for late UPND Luena MP Chrispin Sibetta, said the opposition leaders should all come back and face the music back in Zambia.

It is not clear how the courts of law will now proceed with the cases that Mr. Hichilema and MMD president Dr. Nevers will be handled  them because the Zambian head of state declared them guilty of criminal cases.

Mr. Sata said the only person who is innocent in the group is United Libel Party president Sakwiba Sikota.

Mr. Sata also claimed that South African president Jacob Zuma has since refused to grant Mr. Banda asylum in that country.

And speaking when he swore-in the newly ‘nominated’ MP, Mr. Sata he will give him an office, vehicle, fuel, driver and allowances to develop the country unlike other leaders who don’t have such facilities.

Mr. Sata said now that Monde is a minister, he can tar roads in his former constituency such as Itezhi Tezhi- Monze, Itezhi-Tezhi-Namwala and Itezhi-Mumbwa.

But what Mr. Sata forgot to tell the MP is that the luxuries being given to Monde is Zambia tax-payers money not his his personal pocket.

  12. My interpretation is that President Sata has found Hakainde, Rupiah and Nevers guilty of some unidentified criminal activities. I was not aware that the President of Zambia is now the Accuser, Prosecutor and the Judge at the same time.It is to avoid confusion like this that the Executive and the Judiciary should be independent of each other. Judges handling cases involving the above three people have been put in a very awkward position by the President’s pronouncements.

  13. Its like Sata still thinks he’s in opposition. Listening to what he said during the swearing in ceremony of fellow clown Greyford Monde leaves me wondering what the masses who voted for him saw in him. Sata is so uninspiring! I expect better from the Republican President that clowning and cheap politicking.

As for Greyford Monde the chap has just become big headed for nothing. This muppet was just a mere cashier at Kanyama Clinic not long ago before UPND provided him with an opportunity to become an MP. Now he thinks he has arrived. Its laughable that his fellow clown thinks such as good calibre for position of Deputy Minister for such an important ministry.

Sata should create a Ministry of Comedy which should be placed under the Office of The President. Then he’s at liberty to appoint his fellow clowns as Clowns’ Minister, Deputy Clowns’ Ministers, Permanent Clowns’ Secretary, Provincial Clown, District Clown (DC) etc!

  18. I was very disappointed with Sata’s speech, his duty is to ensure all parts of Zambia are developed irrespective of which party those people in that constituency wants, that is the mandate of his govt. MPs are trere to ensure people’s views are represented and enact laws in Parliament since the whole population cannot travel to Lusaka to debate issues. It seems we need to educate our politicians on basic civics. If people of Itezhi Tezhi believed in the PF manifesto, they would have voted for them but they chose UPND which have a different ideology.

  19. Joining the biggest Circus in the world called PF government is the worst move that Greyford Monde has made and it will haunt him but it will be too late for him to realize that Sata does not mean well even when he promises him heaven on earth during the swearing in ceremony at SATA HOUSE.

There is an English adage that says “Advise when most needed is least heeded” – this is exactly what has happened to Monde. He has chosen to blatantly pour scorn at all those that tried to advise him against the step he took to go to bed with the Cobra.

Those of us that had an opportunity to advise Monde even a few hours before he was sworn in had tried what the clique of PF minions that know Sata very well and acknowledge that the man is a turncoat could not.

This young man who has unfortunately chosen to drag his young political career in the mud may be wallowing in the glory of every opportunity and privileges that come with being a “rubber stamp” called deputy minister for now.
The time he realizes that this move has in fact sent him to the annals of “never to be remembered failed MPs”, it will be the end of his short political career.

I wish the “sleeping political spirits” of the likes of Major Robbie Chizyuka, Beene and other vibrant young men and women that worked under the umbrella of the UPND not to long ago could be resuscitated and these individuals approached by the UPND and reconciled with for the sore purpose of unity in the party and assigned to Itezhi-Tezhi to teach PF a bitter lesson of losing pants down in a constituency where they were sure that they would win with a landslide.

Monde, Monde, Monde, I will end by mentioning your name three times to show you the disappointments and pain you have caused in the hearts of the many Zambians that need the money that you will cause government to lose in a bye-election that you could have prevented if you elected to remain principled and swallow your human ego.

On the 12th of February, 2012 when you were appointed, Americans celebrated the Birthday of one great sons of America in the name of Abraham Lincoln.
Lincoln as you may be aware fellow Zambians within and in the diaspora is one of the most popular presidents in the history of united states, known as the great emancipator for abolishing slavery.

Unlike Sata, Lincoln protected the American constitution and therefore the rights of every person.

Sata and PF will only be remembered for having attempted to rape, suffocate and murder the values and virtues of multiparty politics in Zambia.

    Abash one party state.

  27. This happens when you have a comedian for a head of state, because you do not know whether he is at it again or he is just outright wrong. Our country has never been so divided since Independence. The reason ids simple when you have dishonest people playing as clean people while sweeping the already exposed dirty under the carpet it feels very bad, because you feel as though you are being taken for a ride. The current Govt. has very little moral right if any to justify their blunt actions and hysterical responses to issues of national importance such as the one Mr Sakeni was responding too. Zambia has become more than a police state, and is fast degenerating into dictarship state which SADC and the rest of the world should not allow. The opposition have a role to highlight this state of affair to anyone for that matter, they do not need permission from Mr Sakeni. The response given by Sakeni just highlights how insenstive these guys are. They can’t see what is going on.

After the recent US elections, Obama, in his state of the union address has made the ECONOMY the focus of his policies and efforts. 16 months after OUR elections(September 2011) we are STILL focusing on POLITICAL outmanouvering! How and when shall we tackle this grinding poverty among our citizens? This country belongs to ALL of us and NOT PF members alone. How can the entire head of stead choose to tell such blatant lies regarding opposition party leaders and the former head of state seeking political asylum in South Africa when all of them are back here in Zambia? Sata’s way of thinking is amazing. He even goes on to mention President Jacob Zuma as having refused to grant political asylum to His Excellence Rupiah Bwezani Banda. What Sata does not know is that President Jacob Zuma is a serious president who does not thrive on lies and trivialities being peddled by Sata. How will President Zuma feel to be mentioned in something that never was? In his own thinking Sata thinks he will appear credible by mentioning President Zuma in the useless allegation. People of Zambia are not that foolish to buy Sata’s cheap political and fraudulent tactics. If he has failed to govern, let him say so so that we go for elections. Instead of holding a press conference to express himself, he relies on useless swearing in ceremonies to utter rubbish, knowing very well that journalists cannot ask him to clarify the lies he always pukes from his rotten mouth. Its a shame to have a president who is always swearing in people. We are challenging him to face us the people by holding a press conference. Do not accuse others when you know very well that you have denied them the right to respond. What sort of democracy is this! Thats what happens when you have a bunch of corrupt individuals controlling instruments of the justice system. This government is for criminals; right from the top to the bottom. We are waiting for corrupt and compromised PF TIZ to dare the Zambian people by holding their useless demonstration.
