GBM educates Masebo, PF members importance of issue based campaigns
Defence Minister Geoffrey Mwamba has urged the Patriotic Front (PF) campaign team in Livingstone to focus their attention on issue based campaigns.
In contrast to the insulting language by campaign manager Silvia Masebo who said Tongas will never produce a president, Mwamba said it was vital for the party to serious focus on campaign messages based on real issues that affect the people of Livingstone and avoid any bad messages that might compromise the party’s victory.
Mr. Mwamba also told the PF supporters to avoid any forms of violence if the party was to scoop the forth-coming by-election on February 28th.
Addressing party cadres last night in Zambezi ward, in Livingstone, Mr. Mwamba also said it was vital that the party should avoid politics of insults and violence as doing so might cost the party the elections victory.
“Our primary focus should be on tailoring issued based campaign messages that will inspire Livingstone residents to vote for us in the by-elections,” said Mr. Mwamba.
“And so lets go the electorates with good messages for them to vote for us and not messages of insults and violence’s against any opposition political party,” Mr. Mwamba added.
And PF Southern Province Political Secretary, Mr. Brian Hapunda acknowledged that the Party would from now focus on issues in its campaign trail and would avoid any forms of violence but issue based campaigns.
“I agree that we need to tailor messages of development,” said Mr. Hapunda.
Earlier this week, Tourism Minister Sylvia Masebo said Zambia will never be led by a Tonga president because the Southerners are not willing to embrace other tribes.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Livingstone today, Masebo said the Tonga people were being used to perpetrate tribal politics.
But Garry Nkombo, said people should vote for Hakainde Hichilema on merit.
The PF Post newspaper reported that Masebo, who is PF campaign manager in Livingstone saying Tongas would only produce a Tonga president if they showed willingness to work with other tribes.
However, UPND campaign manager Garry Nkombo said he is proud to be Tonga and that there was nothing he could do about it.
“If she has nothing to say, let her pack her bags. Would it be wrong for me to say Evans or Mwaliteta is coloured? Would I be wrong to say Vice-president (Dr. Guy) Scott is a white man? She must talk about issues……I did not choose to be Tonga. So they should not throw us in that direction,” the Post quotes Nkombo.
During campaigns in Mpongwe last week, Guy Scott also revealed his hatred for late Anderson Mazoka who he labeled a tribalist.
In last year’s elections, President Michael Sata also revealed that he hated Mazoka because he was a tribalist.
The Post newspaper has also been ridiculing the people of Southern Province as Bantustans, an apartheid terminology that was used to demean the black South Africans.

For your own information,those masquarading as real Tongas ,lenjes or solis in PF are not but Zimbabweans by roots and have adopted zambian names .In most cases they want to sound to be more vocal and be seen to be more zambians and they are fake.So Bane let us stop calling Tongas as Tribalistic or you will soon be exposed where you came from.Most of you are Zimbabweans but hiding within Tongas,Lenjes and Solis.Let sleeping dogs lie.I rest my case.

The Ministry of Health has revealed that about 112 cholera cases that have been recorded in Lusaka province.
Public Relations Officer Mwenya Mulenga told the Daily Nation in a telephone interview said that the cases of cholera in the capital were recorded in some isolated places and all the victims were currently under treatment.
He named three rural clinical centers for cholera outbreak in Lusaka Province as Chongwe, Palabana, and Mikango, and insisted that preventive measures already taken had reduced the spreading of the waterborne disease to other outlying areas.
Mr Mulenga said that health officials have continued the distribution of water filters, alongside chlorine to ensure that safe drinking water was available and oral rehydration salts to eradicate the outbreak.
“As of Friday last week, Lusaka Province recorded 112 cases of cholera, where patients were admitted at Mikango, Chongwe and Palabana. But so far many of them have been discharged except for two who were still receiving treatment,” he said.
