Sata appoints KK’s brother-in-law, again gives reporters document claiming HH is a thief
The President Michael Sata has again rewarded his relatives and close associates with appointments into diplomatic missions and ministerial positions.
And Mr. Sata has accused UPND president Hakainde Hichilema of being a thief who the Commonwealth should come and investigate.
Among those rewarded is newly appointed High Commission to Malaysia Miles Kaweche Banda who is first president Dr. Kaunda’s brother-law.
Miles Kawecha Banda is young brother to late wife to Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, Mama Betty Kaunda, and is the one who gave one of the speeches during the funeral service of the former first lady.
Sources at State House said Miles Nsampa, Sata’s nephew and finance Deputy Minister is actually named after the newly appointed High Commissioner Miles Kaweche Banda.
Mr Sata also swore in Zambia’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China Eva Fundafunda.
Others sworn-in are Deputy Minister in the Office of the Vice President Davies Mwango and Deputy Minister of Transport, Works, Supply and Communications Malama Mwimba.
The two are the only PF MPs who voted for the illegal ratification of Acting Chief Justice, Lombe Chibesakunda during the parliamentary select committee.
The appointments now means the Office of the Vice-president has two deputies which is unprecedented since inception of multiparty democracy.
He urged the two deputy ministers to ensure that the levels of unemployment in the country are reduced considering the resources that the country has.
On Mr. Hichilema, Sata who today again distributed the same document he gave reporters not along ago claiming HH was a thief, said it was good that the opposition leader has invited the Commonwealth to come and justify how he (HH) stole the money he has.
Mr. Sata says the invitation of the Commonwealth by the opposition to probe his government’s alleged human rights violations will be an opportunity for opposition UPND leaders Hakainde Hichilema to explain to the Commonwealth the source of his wealth.
Last week, Sata ordered all banks in the country to furnish him with account details of the UPND president, even without the court order.
Last year, Mr. Sata distributed property details and accounts belonging to Mr. Hichilema to journalists at State House during one of his swearing-in ceremonies.
Mr. Sata has been suing private citizens and newspapers that he feels defames him, even when he cannot be sued himself for defaming people because he enjoys immunity.
The opposition parties recently petitioned the Commonwealth to come and see the PF government’s human rights abuses in Zambia.

If you know HH, you will know that he used to be a partner at Grant Thornton (formerly Coopers & Lybrand), one of the leading business consulting firm at least at the time he was there. Partners share profits after the financial year end. It can be lots of money. As far back as more than 15 years ago, partner would get near K1 billion a year. HH opted to invest his money in shares, cattle and all. Mmembe, as a jealous man he is known to be, hates HH for his (latter’s) wealth.

First and foremost, do you know how wealthy the other partners are? Have you conducted a survey to determine what wealth they have? Are you also aware that two people receiving the same salary will not necessarily have the same level of wealth? Coopers and Lybrand was quite a very good firm for local partners as they did not need to pool their profits at regional level as the other firms do. This, I came to learn, was the reason Coopers and Lybrand would not merge with with PriceWaterHouse locally to form PriceWaterHouseCoopers. That was how Grant Thornton was born in Zambia. I have seen another blogger talking about his (probably HH’s)grand father keeping cattle for donkey years. There is commercial approach to keeping cattle. Buy and Sell. Our grand fathers would keep animals just for prestige at village level. It was not uncommon to find a villager with so much cattle but still looking like a poor person. They would resist slaughtering an animal just to keep the numbers that way but those numbers drastically dwindled because of cattle diseases. There are so may rich guys in Zambia who have amassed their wealth through business. There is no need for us to demonize riches. Smart work and investments can yield wealth and a lot of wealth for that matter. Politics aside!

I earn lower in terms of emoluments compared to my workmates but I have something big to show for in terms of property than they have, despite them having been in employment longer than I have. I have not stolen from my employers and have no means to do so in anyway. What would you attribute my wealth to bearing in mind I did not inherint anything from my parents? When the news came I thought tye president had incliminating evidence against HH yet the man had nothing apart from helping HH’s CV of being a very industrious business man. there is literally nothing wrong for HH to amass so much wealth through his inovative approach and giftings of God. Surely we can trust HH to rule Zambia and develop it because he is already rich and won’t be stealing like the other presidents were doing. Ba sata should just leave HH alone.
