  4. This so called bumper harvest was for mmd and I saw on the news Bob Sichinga apologising to zambians for late fertiliser deliveries, if last year we had a bumper harvest and we are experiencing mealie meal shortage, what will happen at the end of this year because a bumper harvest is not possible this year. Fellow zambians, brace yourselves for harder times.
We welcome you UNIP, we have missed you so much for the past 20 years where have you been? The by air time is back.

  5. The real test for the people of eastern province will be determined when they go to vote in the looming Chipata Central Constituency. If they go ahead and vote for PF then the mealie meal shortage has no effect on them just like the people of Mufumbwe and Mpongwe, despite the shortages they went ahead to vote for the failures. Coming from eastern province, my heart bleeds to see my folks queuing up for mealie meal like in the UNIP days.

  12. Everything happening in Zambia today is a chip off the old UNIP Block, KK. These are extremely happy days for KK because this is exactly the way he left things in 1991.

    1. NO DEMOCRACY
    2. SITET
    3. SPECIAL BRANCH SPYING ON CITIZENS’ PRIVACY
    4. Essential mealie meal shortages
    5. Forex Controls
    6. PF Vigilantes = UNIP Vigilantes
    7. PF No idea of running an economy = UNIP no idea of running an economy
    8. Suppression of fundamental rights, freedoms and liberties
    9. PF Central Committee = UNIP Central Committee
10.Jere and Libongani brutality = Kamfinsa Mobile Unit brutality

and so on and so forth the story goes. You will never ever hear KK condemn the evils of this PF government. Instead he will beg you to support maladministration and evil machinations of PF govt because UNIP is back, albeit under the psuedonomy, PF.

  18. I think the people of zambia should learn from our neighbour like tanzania where people harvest and preserve for consumption in their home. A lot of zambians teal the land but the problem is they sell everything that they harvest and wait to come and buy later. We should start thinking positively, whereby i sell some and reserve enough to see me through the season. Zambians like shining, you sell everything and show everybody that you have money and at the end of the season you have nothing, this poos planing and reasoning. I do work and cultivate so as to make ends meet, so i have never bought melie meal for the past 8years, so imitate me so that you leave politicians to fight. If the majority of zambians learn to reserve in their homes, a few individuals who depend on buying from national milling wont starve.

      • …And from 1992 up until PF took over power we never queued for essential goods such as mealie meal, this means the harvest was plenty and we stored enough food for consumption. But when PF came to power with all the excitement they had they sold and donated everything coupled with poor agricultural policies where farm inputs are delivered in March.

        Zganga - March 6, 2013
        07:54

    • Not everyone is a farmer. Infact there is a lot of labor in maize farming compared to what u get from sale. No same farmer would sale all the labor

  24. people may call me heartless, but sometimes a little suffering may help zambians to not make the same mistake again. the point being, sata and the pf should be allowed to finish the whole term; they cried for it and getting them off prematurely will be like giving them an easy way out and as zambians we may end up making the same mistake voting wise again because we will not have seen how low it can get

At one time I actaully thought I was dreaming but hey its true, Zambia is sinking so low so fas than the titanic. Who will serve us? Zambia doesnt deserve this. Whether PF fools like it or not, MMD bad as it appeared then was 100 times better than this failed regime.

  34. Can someone ask Lamedk Mangania and his friend Lucas Phiri issue a statement about why a maize producing town like Chipata should have such shortages.

Chipata should be exporting mealie-meal to LiLongwe and Lusaka and not having shortages. The people of Chipata or Eastern Province are hard working people and it is a disgrace for the town to have food shortages.

It is a clear sign that, someone has failed to manage the economy. It is very sad to see a town like Chipata having to go through such shortages. What will then happen to places like Kafue and Kasama ?

    God help Zambia !!!!!

    • I cry with you mwana. We have always lived side by side with our good neighbours Malawi from time immemorial. They buy food from us and we also buy drinks and other goods from them. Therefore, I find it very strange that our beloved govt should now start blaming food shortages on Malawi. The fact is that this uncaring govt donated and sold all the food without considering our consumption levels. they should improve on their agricultural policies. Yesterday Sichinga apologised to farmers for late delivery of farm inputs, it remains to be seen if they will improve this time on input delivery, prompt payment to farmers and also leaving enough in the reserves.

  36. Dire consequence of having clueless chaps in govt and an idiot for president. As long he is able to receive his life prolonging ‘top-up’ medication and his family and friends are well taken care off, he doesn’t care a damn about everyone else. Zambia is in deep shit!

  37. Please ‘Useful Idoits’the Pathetic Failures(PF),for once admit that things are not well under this Sata’s regime.Better change of governance is desparately needed to save mother Zambia from other shortages other than mealie meal.Thank God the MMD left something(programs) to start with, like building of Defence houses,Lusaka Ring-Roads,Kazungula Bridge, the so-called Link Zambia 800 road project, schools infrastructure,UTH Cancer Building Project,Economic Zones-changed to PF mini- economic industrial clusters etc.I wonder what the CNP would have done without MMD
