Buchi SDA booe minister Chitotela for asking church to explain PF fuel policies
Congregants at Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church in Kitwe’s Buchi Township on Saturday murmured and booed at Deputy Labour Minister Ronald Chitotela when said that the church should help the government to explain to the people why it had lifted subsidies on fuel.
Mr Chitotela admitted telling the church to help the government to explain to the people why government had lifted subsidies on fuel, but denied that the congregants murmured and booed at him, saying that the SDA was a disciplined church which works with the government.
Mr Chitotela, who is an elder at SDA panicked and asked the Reporter who had given him such a ” distorted information” about the service in Buchi township in Kitwe.
“No, i was not booed or murmured at, that is not true. Who told you that distorted information? Mr Chitotela said.
But, the congregants, who attended the service said Mr Chitotela was booed and murmured when he said the church should explain to the people why government had lifted subsidies on fuel.
The congregants said were not happy that Mr Chitotela had turned the church into a political platform after he was given time to talk to the people.
“The congregants booed and murmured at Mr Chitotela when he started preaching politics in church. The people got more annoyed when he started he told the church to start explaining to the people why the government had lifted subsidies on fuel.
“There was some sort of a confusion in church because now people were making noise and asking each other if it was the role of the church to explain government decisions to the people,” said some congregants at the church.
