Copperbelt minister’s son found with GRZ vehicle drunk

Police in Ndola, Copperbelt last night impounded the official vehicle for Mwenya Musenge after it was found being driven by his 21-year old son.

Sources say the Copperbelt minister’s son was found with the GRZ vehicle drunk at a bar with girls.

Police sources say the boy who normally drives his father’s vehicle for drinking sprees does not even have a driving licence.

The requirement for one to drive a GRZ vehicle is that one should have both the RATSA and a government competence driving licence.

It is not clear what the police will do to someone who was diving under the influence of alcohol, had no RATSA and government competence licences to drive the public vehicle at night.

I find the father’s unreserved apology refreshing. Children can be a nuisance at times and that does not necessarily reflect the conduct of the parent. We should be sober in our analysis.

In addition to having RTSA and Govt certificate of compentence driving licences, the boy should have been an employee in the civil service as an established public officer in division one and above(super salary scale).Even those civil servants on permanent and pensionable basis, not all them are allowed to drive govt vehicles.Very few of us were allowed to drive govt vehicles. The question is where does the boy work and what is his rank? The father should not leave the car keys carelessly in the bedroom or living room .Driving while drunk the foolish Boy risks being the LATE or LAME very soon ooh.Let the boy be told that vehicle is a govt property bought from taxpayers money.

Honourable Musenge owner of Chillers Corners formerly club Zero in Kwacha East.Riverside police traffic officers in particular and the Kitwe traffic police officers in general has been seeing this young lad driving his father’s Cherokee Jeep in Kitwe without asking him about his drivers’s license. The only thing the traffic police officers ask Musenge’s son is Bwanji ya talk time bwana honourable. Just image the all traffic police officers calling the son of an MP honourable just to beg for ka 50 or 100 pin from a small boy.Pa ZED poverty mentality.

  14. Say what?  November 12, 2012 at 12:23

If as stated “Police sources say the boy normally drives his father’s vehicle for drinking sprees does not even have a driving licence” I can only wonder why the Police have not arrested him a long time ago.

This reflects just as poorly on ZP as it does on the Minister and his hapless son.

Only in Africa and pa Zed. What a shame. Reminds me of the late FTJ’s sons. They would not only abuse government resources but also abuse and assault the ordinary citizens and nobody would do anything about it. I am sure the bastards are now languishing somewhere! They would have used the father’s opportunity to make something out of their lives. Useless lot!!!

Mr. Musenge should discipline his son. In addition, the boy should be arrested for driving a GRZ vehicle without a RTSA driving lincense and a Certificate of Compentence to drive a Gorvement vehicle. Let the vehicle be impounded. If it was a civil servant found with that vehicle, the Pesident would have instructed Solomon Jere to descend on him/her.

Gross Abuse. In civilized nations, the minister should resign fro gross negligence. But in Zambia, a minister holds on to office even when under investigations for criminal offences. And even has the audacity to intimidate law enforecers! Shame.

This is a lie. Bembas are thieves by nature. About 95% – 99% of bembas are thieves. If you dont steal now, its inevitable that you will during the course of life. It might be a generational curse or anything to that effect. You need a powerful man of god to remove this behaviour.

What is interesting is the fact that if this young man was drunk the police could have caught him & be in police castod, but the boy is free and the vehicle at police. What is wrong with our professionals in police service. So far the boy is already above the law. Police may you serve accordingly, we all need to fear law not ministers. Police you are always on the side of those who are in power, you are destroying the country and the future of our childrens including yours.

    • Mbwatu....  November 12, 2012 at 09:20

Police in Zambia are messengers. They only do what they are told to do. The boy is free because they were told to leave him alone.

Never defend a wrong especially if u r a witness in a court case where another stands Btn jail and freedom
