According to resolution of the Edgar Lungu chaired committee which is simply acting on instructions from party Secretary General Wynter Kabimba, Lubinda – the foreign affairs minister – has been leaking confidential party and state information to online newspapers, the Daily Nation and the opposition in the country.
Lungu’s committee has been sitting in Lusaka for three days considering disciplinary cases of Lubinda, Lucas Phiri (suspended Eastern province chairman) and Davis Chama (suspended Lusaka province chairman).
PF sources disclosed that Lubinda’s days are numbered. The committee has recommended that Lubinda be relieved of his ministerial position before his expulsion is effected.
However, the recommendation may face strong opposition in the Central Committee where Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, Chishimba Kambwili and others are mobilising support to defend Lubinda and avoid the PF from being portrayed disunited.
Kabimba supported by newcommers Sylvia Masebo with the full blessings of President Michael Sata is on a mission of eliminating potential PF challengers for the top seat.
The justice minister views himself as the automatic successor for the 2016 elections considering that President Sata will be medically unfit to contest the top position.
