HH needs to be humble and learn under Sata

By Sity Mwitu

Mr. Hakainde Hichilema (popularly known as HH) is a great person almost in everything except a few political hick ups that he needs to patch up before the 2011 Presidential election takes place. In the 21st century, it is no doubt that the caliber of HH would be the best ideal environment in politics as regards national leadership, but alas in every cupboard there is a skeleton. HH is a refined man in terms of quality education and he has proved his business acumen, though some people still have doubts because of the business role he played in the privatization, receivership or liquidation of some of the Parastatal companies. He was a disciple of a great states man, the late Anderson Mazoka. HH is still young and energetic resonating the required capacity to deal with the complex 21st century problems faced by many African countries. It is also of no doubt that many Zambians would prefer having HH in state house rather than anybody else given his profile, personal intelligence and achievements. But if HH can manage to correct some of the political hick ups that gave birth to his public political career and which continue to cloud his political image, he stands a better chance to be one of the best and most successful Presidents Zambia could have ever produced.

First and foremost, HH needs to correct the foundation of his public political leadership in the UPND. HH has to sit down and see how he will clean the dirty political cloud of tribalism that he and his tribesmen unleashed on unsuspecting non-Tongas like Sikota and Chisanga, who were at that time, Vice- Presidents to the late Mazoka. When concerned people mention this element, it does not mean that they hate him, no; they just say this in good faith and they know that HH has the capacity to clean his tribalism record. His public political ascension to the throne of UPND Presidency, which was based on tribalism, has left a hurting political scar in the minds of many voters. In addition, his public humiliation of his tribal cousin Sikota Wina left many Lozis to have no respect for him. He may have branches and supporters in Western Province; the political wounds he inflicted on Sikota permeates through many Lozis and these need to be healed if he intends to get some good votes from Western Province. HH needs not only to apologize to the BRE and its traditional leadership in Western Province, but also to the entire nation at large as regards the way he ascended to the UPND Presidency. Time may seem to have past, but past, especially hurting, feelings do not fade away such easily in the hearts of people if they are either potential or existing voters. Humility is the key to ascending to top leadership of any given society.

The second dirty political cloud that HH needs to clean is that of always wanting to be a leader and not a follower. Quality education, money and power may not be the best parameters to measure one’s suitability for political leadership. It is not necessary true that if one is successful in both the academic and business environment, then it is automatic that one would also be successful in politics, especially at the Presidency level. HH does not know how it feels to be a public political follower. Some philosophers have said that without being a good and obedient follower, one may find it difficult to lead others towards the realization of a common political goal. Our political leadership speaks volumes of how the Zambian Presidency has always been divinely allocated.

The first Republican President was a follower as Party Secretary General of UNIP before he assumed UNIP leadership. Dr. FTJ Chiluba was a follower under the late Authar Wina as MMD Chairperson. When MMD stopped the late Andy Mazoka from contesting the top MMD Executive post, he went for the lower post and he won, but we all know what happened, hence the birth of UPND. The late President Dr. Mwanawasa was also a follower in the MMD party as well as Vice-President of Zambia under the leadership of DR. Chiluba. Our current President Mr. RB has a good record of having been a good follower in the days of UNIP under Dr. Kaunda. Mr. RB despite his age also agreed to be a follower of a young man, the late President Dr. Mwanawasa. Sata also holds a good record of being a good and obedient follower of Dr. Kaunda during the UNIP era as well as that of Dr. FTJ Chiluba. There is great leadership wisdom to be gained in being a good follower than always imposing one’s leadership on people. This is a syndrome that is destroying many energetic and potential Zambian Presidents of the 21st Century; the spirit of always wanting to lead and not to be lead. I remember when Professor Clive Chirwa just came back from the UK; he was talking big as regards his ambition for the Zambian Presidency. He even gave MMD a tough time, but later on he ended up joining the same party he had earlier on condemned. At one point he even made some monetary donations to the MMD party. But today is under the tutorship of being a good and obedient follower under HH’s leadership. Formal knowledge may be gained in classrooms, but not wisdom. Sometimes people that God provide as our leaders may not fit our own judgment and criteria to be our leaders, but if they offer us such a chance to be their followers, again humility is the key to great political leadership. Other people in this life may be meant to be bridges in order to enable others to cross the troubled waters.

The third dirty political cloud that HH needs to clean is the PF-UPND Pact failure. It may not be the first time PF’s Micheal Sata could have entered into a strategic political partnership with other political parties. At one particular time, Mr. Sikota’s ULP had an alliance with PF that saw them go into election as an alliance. Because of this alliance, both parties added value to their parties. Although the people of Western Province still had mixed feelings about Sata, they gave their backing to ULP and this is how ULP won some seats. The failure of the pact saw some ULP elected MPs change their allegiance to PF, the case of Hon Given Lubinda Kabwata MP and others. But now it’s a different story for ULP. The PF-ULP pact failed because Sata did not win the Presidency, but Mr. Sikota who was willing to become the Vice-President if Sata won, stood as Livingstone constituency MP and he won. He could have won the MP seat on his own popularity, but we cannot deny of the Sata influence factor in his election as Livingstone MP. As for HH, when he formed the alliance between UPND and FDD, Ms. Edith Nawakwi agreed to HH’s leadership. Ms. Nawakwi had put all her eggs in one political basket called UPND and when the political basket fell down and broke, all her eggs also broke. What I am trying to say here is that HH has never wanted to learn to be a follower even when the doors of his political leadership are yearning for him just to do that. As a result, HH has always portrayed himself to be the best suited Presidential candidate even within the PF-UPND pact and this is what will kill the PF-UPND pact if Mr. HH does not take heed to constructive criticism and advice. The PF-UPND pact may be the bridge that Mr. HH would need to use in the future in order for him to cross these dirty political clouds hanging over his political career for him to step into State House, which will probably be the last great achievement in his life here on Earth. But this will not be achieved if he continues to insist that he is the best candidate for the pact when the ratio of popularity and ethnic support between Sata and HH are uneven, of which at the moment Sata appears to enjoy a favourable portion of this ratio. The combination of PF-UPND is what is needed to remove the MMD from power. Again humility is the key to great leadership. If HH agreed in principle to become the Vice President and Sata runs for President and they form the next government this year in 2011, HH stands a chance to gain a lot. Yes, Mr. Sata may be unreliable and cunning, but he is also a human being who cannot fight the grand plan of God. Everyone knows that Sata is advanced in age. He may or he may not be able to complete his two terms of office knowing that he is a performer. Who knew that Mr. RB would become President upon his appointment as Vice President? HH is a risk taker and he should not be afraid to be disappointed by Mr. Sata. As human beings, we should not forget that life has its own ways of appointing and disappointing people. Therefore, currently, HH has to fight the two baits before him; on one hand, that is if he wants to stand as a sole UPND candidate. The risk with this option is that if he lost the 2011 Presidential election, HH stands to destroy his political career for good. HH should not forget that the beefing of UPND Party by people like Professor Clive Chirwa is not a good political signal for HH to continue to remain at the helm of UPND. Even other Party leaders like Mr. Gary Nkhombo and others would want to test the top UPND leadership positions after being good followers. The story of Mr. Gordon Brown and Tony Blair of the UK serves the case. On the other hand, the MMD bait is not a good political investment because people have already resolved in their hearts to get rid of MMD whether Mr. RB, as President of Zambia for the past two half years, has either done very well or not. The people are just fed up of MMD. Therefore, Mr. HH should not entertain such detracting plans or thoughts of an MMD-UPND pact as best choice for political investment if he still wants to enter State House. For this reason, it is not too late for HH to learn followership under Mr. Sata if he ever wanted to be the President of Zambia. I do not mean to demean the significance of Mr. HH in the Zambian political arena, but the current political situation under the MMD and given the allegations of MMD rigging of past elections, it would be impossible for HH to enter State House on his own accord. Mr. Sata could be laying a strong ground for HH’s election into State House if the pact formed government this year in 2011. If the pact between David Cameron as the Prime Minister of UK and Nick Clegg as the Deputy Prime Minister could work after the two came together to form government, why would Mr. Sata be such a devil to through away his human feelings towards others. If Sata was such a devil, people like Dr. Guy Scot, Mr. Winter Kambimba and other men of high standing in the PF would have already ditched him. But there could be something of value that these men and women have discovered in Mr. Sata that HH needs to discover also by interacting with these men and women that close to Mr. Sata.

The last but not is the least is the tribe divide factor within the UPND party structure. On one hand there are some party officials who are advocating for strategic political partnership between MMD and UPND and on the other hand those advocating for PF-UPND pact. The bravery and intelligence that God has invested heavily in Mr. HH should not make him fail to put his house in order by bringing the two extremes factions together and sell the PF-UPND pact as the best option if at all the 2001 UPND dream of being in government is to come to pass. Therefore, going alone as it has been stated of late in the press is not a good option for HH’s political career. For this reason, it is not too late for HH to learn followership under Mr. Sata if he ever wanted to be the President of Zambia. This does not mean that HH can never the President of Zambia unless is under Sata, but the current political scenario favours Mr. HH to go under such an arrangement with Mr. Sata and again humility is the key to great political leadership.

It is now 47 years of political independence for Zambians. At 47 we have the 5th president. This is at a time when some of our mineral resources have already been given out in exchange for casualization. Poverty in most areas in my province is on every face. It is hard to drive and meet my relatives in Kamapanda, Chinyama litapi and many other places. My eyes are open and am seeing.

In Solwezi where I stay, heavy mining activities are going. What I see is a shanty compound enlarging and tuntemba shops increasing along the main way. The language in the streets from our brothers who have come in from other parts of our country is ” ABANTU BAKUNO….” All you hear is some words irritating. I really dont understand this. During elections or seeking employment or contracts they say ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION. in the streets they say ABANTU BAKUNO. NWP is the real ZAMBIA. The first independence monument is found at Zambezi source in now Ikelenge district. The Zambian flag was first raised at that point and in selected points in the country. If NWP was to detatch itself from the rest of the country today it has the grounds to claim the name Zambia. Yet no leader has shown interest in developing the province apart from the late president Mwana.. (MHSRIP). My eyes are open and am seeing my mouth is open too, dont say I didnt talk.

Today we have Sata now as president. The first thing he has done for NWP is giving them a Lozi woman as provincial minister, another lozi woman as commissioner of police and a Soli man who at one time was alleged to have stolen medicines and a vehicle from vetrinary department as permanent secretary. Communicating to North Westerners that they were not educated just as other enemies of the province have been labelling the province. Well my eyes are open so is my mouth.

There is no province in Zambia that can fail to produce a permanent secretary, a provincial minister or any qualification what so ever at 47 years of independence. If it happens, it remains the duty of the government to make sure it is done in that province.

Let me have a brave man to explain to north westerners why they are painted the inferior colour. I see nothing but continued implementation of deprivation of services and access to governing positions. My eyes are open and so is my mouth.

What next? SATA must consider a meaningful decentralization. I am looking forward to a time when Zambia will be made with small decentralized states that will be governed by regional assemblies. The constitution must provide for this to start.

If in the next 15 years we still want to cheat that it is ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION, dont be surprised to see the record of peace breaking. ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION is no long necessary because even the smallest ethnic group is now looking up to be recognized. This can only be done by regionalizing the country. My eyes are open and so is my mouth. Dont say I did not tell you.

Well that’s a very intelligent article that i feel we must all learn from, though a not done reading it i personally think it i very wrong and impollite to ask HH to stand and let the old man abuse him and his team. Yes HH has some skeletones that he must answer for especailly the tribal issue by the way we are all becoming tribalist slowly even in my challenge to HH on this matter is a bit tribal. but i direct this at HH because i feel he has the gat to stop this problem of triblalism not just in Northern, southern or western provinces but the rest of the country.

  4. Ndiwabene  February 18, 2011 at 15:49

Are you being honest to suggest that HH needs to be humble to Sata? Does this article imply that HH must learn to be STUPID to a point of kneeling before the venomous SNAKE? Let’s be serious…Sata’s base has been seriously eroded in Luapula and more gullies are evollving in Northern Province for this war-mongering Mwakyusan mercenary hired from Tanzania.. Apparently, HH is still well rooted in Southern Province. You must be joking!

The press controversy regarding HH being the Vice-President of the pact is a good Litmus Test for HH’s proposals to Sata that they should put in place an economic plan as a first priority. I did mention on this blog that it is easier to put in place an economic plan once the human resource issues or sharing of positions have been done first. Now you can see how destructive the issue of sharing positions can be to the pact than simply putting an economic plan. HH and Sata, please wake up. MMD has said they are holding their convention in April 2011, how about you guys? Once MMD holds its convention in April 2011, just know that the election date would be announced soonest whilst you guys are still quarrelling amongst yourselves regarding positions. This proves Sata to be right. Sata insists that it is proper to sort out sensitive issues of position sharing fist and then do the economic plans that require big brains of the HH type. My plea to HH is to listen to Mwitu’s advice. HH this is your moment to work together with Sata. Please HH, don’t let this golden opportunity God has give you go begging because of pride. The Bible reminds us that pride comes before a fall. Agree to Professor Clive Chirwa’s suggestion. Please, light the candle of hope for many hopeless Zambians by being the pact’s Vice- President. We want change, do you get it chaps!

SITY MWITU U ARE MAD , YOUR ARTICLE IS BIASED AND FULL OF NONSENSE. IF IAM TO ASK A QUESTION, WHAT CAN HH LEARN FROM SATA, A THUG,KAPONYA MONEY LAUNDERING THUG, EMBEZZLER OF MEZAFLATS GRZ CASH, INSULTING EXPERT, PLEASE SPARE US OF YOUR RUBBISH, WELL WHO TOLD YOU UPND WILL NEED PF SUPPORTERS IN 2016. THERE WILL BE NO PF BY OCTOBER THIS YEAR, THE TRUE ZAMBIANS WILL SUPPORT UPND, BY THEN HH WILL BE AT HIS BEST PEAK, SATA WILL BE DEAD BY THEN, GOD FORBID . THE BETTER WE COME OUT OF THIS PACT THE BETTER. IF SATA WAS A CREDIBLE PERSON WHO DOESN’T CHANGE LIKE A CHAMELEON HH WOULD HAVE AGREED TO  DEPUTIZE HIM, NOT EVEN A GHOST OR ANOTHER DEVIL FROM HELL CAN TRUST SATA THIS IS A FACT ALL PF KAPONYAS KNOW AND NO ONE CAN CHALLENGE ME ON THIS ONE. Am so glad that people are starting see what i see In madman Maestro hhhhh. Only psycho like him would Insult Mr Mwitu for such a good piece of work. As for HH, my prayer is that he puts on his thinking cap now before the door shuts on him and his party. No one denies the fact that UPND is a big party in S.province but they need more support from other parts of the country if they are to remain relevant post 2011 elections.
PF of late have been showing loads of maturity and are not responding to UPND youth’s provocations anymore because the task before the huge than responding to a few hired thugs.A

Maestro Hhehhehhehhe for 2011 would-b President of Zambia HH, just reading your name tells it all! You can never never be rational about issues of the PACT because you are a hired detractor. HH is a very intelligent young man who understands and reads the political landscape and mind set of the people of Zambia. He is a Zambian who understands what is required of him to save us from the talons of the greed MMD. Sata and HH together have the numbers to get rid of the useless MMD who are allowing Mopane to steal our tax money, KCM to pollute the Kafue river, Chinese in Maamba to shoot at us, misapplication or misappropriation of monies by government officials, president flying around like a lunatic, etc, etc. For some of you who do not have the realistic picture or are just paid merceneries to mislead our HH and Sata, we curse you that you will not prosper, for you support evil men!
HH, go ahead agree with SATA, THE MINISTRY SHARING (HUMAN RESOURCE PLACEMENT) and ECONOMIC-SOCIAL PLAN, then go round the country and campaign as a joint team and you will easily dislogde this gang of thieves and uncaring government.

  10. OBSERVER  February 17, 2011 at 15:53

Sata also needs to respect other political leaders and their parties.

  11. Maestro Hhehhehhehhe for 2011 would-b President of Zambia HH  February 17, 2011 at 14:20

On Kennedy Mulenga‘s “Sata’s point of view according to HH’s remarks yesterday during the 19:00 hrs news is that Sata wants the two leaders to deal with the issues of human resource or sharing of positions first and then sort out the economic plan later on. I want to concur with Sata. PF and UPND are two different political parties and their human resources factor, if not handled properly, can make the pact fail. Sata’s point of view is correct. Creating harmony and peace in the pact would be of paramount importance than putting up an economic plan” HH mentioned what is important because the PACT already has Sata as the PACT leader (as Sata is the unelected PF leader) while HH is the PACT president (since he is elected UPND president).

As UPND 2011 presidential candidate HH put it, what is very important for the PACT is to come up with a social and economic plan that will ensure that the PACT presidential candidate will honour his obligations of appointing the leader who will just support the other as a Zambian Vice-President. Also, UPND and PF will need to have 50% each MP and councillor candidates across Zambia.

After an economic and social PACT plan has been put into place, the Joint National Council of the PACT must elect a PACT 2011 presidential candidate, HH, so that HH can later appoint Sata MC as Prime Minister of Zambia upon changing the Constitution to allow for such after HH wins the presidential elections. HH can then appoint Inonge Wina of PF as the first female Zambian Vice-President.

    Have a blssed day.

The article is full of wisdom and i feel that those conderming the author are doing so out of ignorance or are just hired to disrupt good opinions. There is nothing about personal hatred mentioned in the article but the fact still remains that he has alot to learn.Zambians, lets not comment because we are aligned to a particular political party and people will condemn us if we say the truth. Sata as a human being has his own weaknesses because none of us is perfect. Most of his old character is gone and you will only know what iam talking about when you meet him in-person.Fellow Zambians, lets pass comments on people after gathering latest evidence.

  13. Bash  February 17, 2011 at 13:16

MAKUMBI. True! UPND’s Clive Chirwa has proposed in a letter to Winter Kabimba; SATA PACT PRESIDENT, HH VICE PACT PRESIDENT, PARLIAMENTARY SEATS; 60percent PF, 40percent UPND. Mwitwa and Kakoma of UPND have refuted Clive’s proposal. By and large, this is a progressive proposal. Of course there will be mixed feelings from die-hard zealots. VIVA PACT!

  16. Lintius  February 17, 2011 at 10:05

HH should still go into this alone, if we zambians truely need charge we will over look these small insignificate issues people try to bring up to destroy HH. And why is it that all these issues only resurface near election time????????? anyway lets not for get that even Sata’s days as party president are number, if he does not make it for 2011 he surely will be displaced by the young ones….

Sity mwitu you are very useless, the problem with you is that you think with your eye and not with brains, iam very disappointed with you because your eyes tell you that sata is wise.shame.You are even writing 100 sentences as if it is sence ,,nosense.

  18. The Realist  February 17, 2011 at 09:40

So much has been said about HH and his involvement in the privatisation process. Many audit and law firms were appointed as liquidators and got hefty fees FOR WORK DONE. I find it absurd to pick on HH to the exclusion of every other liquidator involved in the privatisation process. Valentine Chitalu made his money from the privatisation process and has been left alone to enjoy his money, so please, stop being petty and come up with real issues for debate. PF is not showing willingness to continue with the PACT. It is their prerogative, much as we disagree. The split will be a setback and betrayal of voters who have demonstrated opposition to MMD rule.

  19. observer  February 17, 2011 at 09:33

well HH is the best candidate of them all but i will just vote for RB, our political system is so unfair. Thank God Sata will never be president of this country.

  20. Sir Ben's Masters  February 17, 2011 at 09:31

Wonderful article.Let those who ears hear and let them be those that can never listen to sound advice.Afterall,Sata can win even without HH going by the 2008 presidential elections. HH will not win by himself but rather disturb the MMD’s strongholds like north western province that will add value to Sata.Keep dreaming.

  23. Kennedy Mulenga  February 17, 2011 at 07:53

Congrats Mwitu, what a thought provoking article indeed. Last evening I listened to the ZNBC main news at 19:00 hrs and HH’s remarks on the pact was given a prime slot. According to HH, Sata is just interested in sharing positions while HH is interested in coming up with economy plan. HH’s insistence is that Sata and him must sit down and come up an economic plan of how they will manage the country rather than deal with the issues of sharing positions in the pact as a first priority. Two schools of thought are emerging from the two leaders. Sata’s school of thought is from the human resource management while HH’s school of thought is from economic management and the quagmire between the two leaders is which one should be tackled first. In my opinion, all are very important if you are dealing with a single or similar institution or organization. If it is a single institution, then you start with the business plan and then the human resource to implement the business plan. This is HH’s point of view. But PF and UPND are not a single organization. They are two different political parties with their own manifestos or economic plans on how they intend to manage the country’s economic affairs. Sata’s point of view according to HH’s remarks yesterday during the 19:00 hrs news is that Sata wants the two leaders to deal with the issues of human resource or sharing of positions first and then sort out the economic plan later on. I want to concur with Sata. PF and UPND are two different political parties and their human resources factor, if not handled properly, can make the pact fail. Sata’s point of view is correct. Creating harmony and peace in the pact would be of paramount importance than putting up an economic plan. Mr. HH, Mwitu is right just humble yourself and you will lose nothing. PF has a manifesto just as UPND has. PF wants to run the country according to their manifesto just as you want to do so. So why sit down and waste time on things that already exist than harmonizing the working relationship of PF/ UPND pact members. In my own opinion, I think it is easier to put an economic plan in place than to share positions. Sata is looking at Human resource as the critical factor in the realization of the pact than coming up with an economic plan, which is also very important. HH is saying let us put in place an economic plan before human resource. The factor that will cause the pact to fail is not the existence of the economic plan, but the failure to harmonize the pact’s human resource working relationship. HH, Sata is right. Listen to wisdom. Sata is saying from both PF and UPND, let us pick a credible team that is saleable to the Zambian electorate and once this is done and such combination has created peace in both parties, then let us sit and down and combine our brains to come up with an economic plan from the two parties’ manifestos in order to liberate Zambians from the economic doldrums they are facing right now. Wisdom is a tool used for building a house while knowledge or education is a product of wisdom. Build your PF/UPND pact house first by using understanding and wisdom, and then use your knowledge to enrich your pact or house. Prov.24:3-4. Like Mwitu has said, HH we need you in the future, please humble yourself and listen to the old man.

  24. Kambela  February 17, 2011 at 07:18

It is evident from the article that the author is one of those people who just talk without getting the facts right. HH has never had issues with SIKOTA WINA as alluded to in paragraph 2 of the article. Therefore, the article is *rubbish* as the author seems not to have an ear to the ground.

  25. The Dude  February 17, 2011 at 06:48

Omuka, there is no need to quarrel. All you need to do is take a drive to northwestern province and ask people what they think of the two , Sata and HH. After that cross over to western. If someone has to be humble its Sata, he’s aging and wants to be in state house by all cost, but then he is being cheated that he can win on his own! Why is PF refusing to meet their pact partners to strategise on the governance once in power. Why are you so partisan? It won’t take Zambia anywhere. Sata quite alright has experience, but not for plot one. How come FTJ didn’t make him one?

  26. Maestro Hhehhehhehhe for 2011 would-b President of Zambia HH  February 17, 2011 at 01:45

Osmuka just go and try to convince HH to join PF as vice-president and the mighty UPND Team will go it alone into the 2011 elections with or without HH if he chooses to join PF since UPND is a democratic party for tough luck UPND will not buckle to support hater-tribalists like you.

Whether you like it or not, the UPND has councillors and MPs in 7 provinces of Zambia except for tribal-voting Luapula and Northern provinces of Zambia and PF only has Councillors and MPs in 4 provinces namely Copperbelt, Lusaka, Luapula and Northern Province and possibly PF may have a councillor in Central Province of Zambia.

This diametric view of the political situation in Zambia means that PF is a regional party of Northern Zambia covered by PF’s 2006 wins of seats in Lusaka due to the ULP (a subsidiary of UPND) that had an alliance with PF in that election year.

If the UPND will go it alone in this 2011’s elections, it is most likely that UPND will regain its 2001 votes of Lusaka Province while PF will remain on the Copperbelt and the southern part of Northern Province since Luapula Province has been taken by storm by the MMD who are suing Mr FJT Chiluba to teach Sata MC are politics lesson he will probably live to regret after the 2011 election.

This means that PF will remain as a regional party concentrated in 2 provinces of Zambia (Copperbelt and Northern provinces) surrounding Mr PF Sata MC’s village in Mpika although those that know Sata MC well have presented the Nation with information that the serpentine Sata MC of PF originates from Tanzania.

For me, I will have the last laugh if PF’s Sata MC will be pushed into distant 3rd position or his 2001 elections’ record 9th position out of 10 candidates, if I am not mistaken, that he started by coming out in his debut of successive humiliating losses of the Zambian presidential elections since then as the UPND will battle it out with the MMD in their quest to form GRZ Administration. My recent analysis indicate that UPND will form GRZ Administration after the 2011 elections with HH as Zambian President but it wont hurt if UPND comes out number 2 to the MMD — if MMD wins the presidential elections.

In all, UPND will still be part of GRZ either as ruling party or as a part of the Legislature in our Zambian Parliament this time with many more seats than UPND’s current 25 MP seats or so.

Have a blessed day and continue leaving in fantasies while UPND’s campaign team convinces real voters using the door-to-door strategy to vote for the UPND’s candidates in this year’s election since PF characters have been a disappointment in their running of councils wherever myopic Zambians allowed PF to dominate the local councils composition.

I must congratulate Mr. Mwitu for a thought provoking article. Although the analysis would have gone deeper, I am of the same opinion that HH can make a good President but he has too many obstacles right now.  UPND itself is a major hurdle for him due to the history and events after the death of AM, the founder. It is not difficult to see that tribal alliances seem to be their cornerstone as a party. He needs Sata in order to put to rest the fear of tribalist going overboard with him at the reigns. Otherwise he has no chance. Sata on the other hand has been an effective minister and leader of the opposition. He has stood on the side of the poor and Zambians at large when it has not been fashionable. He has a large following. It is reasonable to encourage the younger HH to bide his time and build bridges with PF and Sata.

  28. Osmuka  February 17, 2011 at 00:30

Menstro stop deceiving yourself here. Educated ingnorant .Go and ask HH what was Mr Chisanga in Upnd. How many provinces has each of these two parties for support? Are they seven provinces Upnd has support from and pf only luapula and Northern provinces? A lier, this holier than thou. When you look at the voting parten you find that in the very provinces you detest HH your Tonga fellow was given more votes than Sata was given in southern province. Who are more tribalists going by this? You are forgoting that you need the very people you’re insulting. But let me tell you ,going by the way you are going HH will never win any election. Others will come and over take him. Please stop displaying your childish type of debating. The kaponyas are even more resposible than you who maybe still a John solyebwali.Hh needs votes from the very people you are insulting.

  29. Osmuka  February 16, 2011 at 23:13

Prince ,you are with me .There must be analysis as we read what others are saying.lnstead of just burking like a powerless kid.You see Prince,if you have been following the manner upnd have conducted itself ,l don’t know what would have happenned if it were pf’s cadres insulting HH day in day out.Even in this net you can tell.lt is unacceptable. They are the ones that have destroyed the pact and l can tell HH or Sata alone will never win the elections.l suggest they shouldn’t even be trusted 2011 anymore. They must be decompanied vigorously. We should go for another party .This is so because they seam to look only for their personal benifits.MMD chaps assassinate the charactor of Mr MCS day in day out but cannot substantiate what they say.Otherwise MCS could be rotting in jail today. You talk of the so called Chawama masaka why can’tyou provide enough evidence and report to police for further investigations to the point of being found wanting but this can’t happen for fear of the case turning against them .Some of you need to learn real Bemba and not cb Bemba then you will understand him .

  30. Maestro Hhehhehhehhe for 2011 would-b President of Zambia HH  February 16, 2011 at 22:46

On “… if he wants to stand as a sole UPND candidate… risk with this option is that if he lost the 2011 Presidential election, HH stands to destroy his political career for good. HH should not forget that the beefing of UPND Party by people like Professor Clive Chirwa is not a good political signal for HH to continue to remain at the helm of UPND… other Party leaders like Mr. Gary Nkhombo and others would want to test the top UPND leadership positions after being good followers” I do not see what is wrong in HH standing as a UPND representative and not as his own representative for he will have done his part of representing UPND while others like Dr Clive Chirwa and Gary Nkhombo will carry the UPND representative job if they will be elected UPND president(ial candidate) for certain years to come. Therefore, let PF cadre-Kaponyas know that HH is not UPND and UPND is not HH the way PF is Sata MC and vice-versa.

As for “If HH agreed in principle to become the Vice President and Sata runs for President and they form the next government this year in 2011, HH stands a chance to gain a lot. Yes, Mr. Sata may be unreliable and cunning, but he is also a human being who cannot fight the grand plan of God. Everyone knows that Sata is advanced in age. He may or he may not be able to complete his two terms of office knowing that he is a performer… HH is a risk taker and he should not be afraid to be disappointed by Mr. Sata. As human beings, we should not forget that life has its own ways of appointing and disappointing people” I advise the author of the article to tell PF/Sata talk to HH in his individual capacity so that they convince HH to be appointed-by-Sata-MC as their PF vice-president or 1st vice-president while Guy Scott takes the 2nd vice-president position.

However, if PF wants to work with UPND and not HH alone, then PF (Sata MC and his cohorts) have to stop or cease insulting UPND president and UPND by saying that HH is an Uncer5 and UPND is a junior partner in the PF-UPND PACT. PF has to apologise to the mighty UPND for wasting UPND’s time and then call for a Joint PF-UPND PACT meeting to agree on the road map of how the PACT will have to govern Zambia as well as elect a PF-UPND PACT 2011 presidential candidate between HH and Sata MC while a neutral most-experienced candidate Ng’andu Peter MAGANDE can be on standby if a dead-end is reached on considering the deceit of Sata MC and doubt on HH.

If Magande is chosen as 2011 PACT presidential candidate, he will then be forced to appoint two Vice-Presidents should he win the elections in the name of HH as Vice-President for Administration and Sata MC as Vice-President for politics. This way HH can be charged to run GRZ in Parliament and other serious national activities while Sata can be tasked to look into the plight of Kaponyas.

On “… why would Mr. Sata be such a devil to through away his human feelings towards others. If Sata was such a devil, people like Dr. Guy Scot, Mr. Winter [sic:]Kabimba and other men of high standing in the PF would have already ditched him… there could be something of value that these men and women have discovered in Mr. Sata that HH needs to discover also by interacting with these men and women that close to Mr. Sata” is the writer of the article serious about the two nonentinties Guy Scott remembered for the pigs saga of overestimating things at his farm for dubious rewards probably and atheist Wynter Kabimba who is known for writing threats which do not materialise into serious court proceedings? Very pathetic examples that can be given to clean HH indeed by a myopic author of the article above.

Indeed “… [UPND] going [it] alone as it has been stated of late in the press is not a good option for HH’s political career… it is not too late for HH to learn followership under Mr. Sata if he ever wanted to be the President of Zambia… the current political scenario favours Mr. HH to go under such an arrangement with Mr. Sata and again humility is the key to great political leadership” is in bad taste because HH is not UPND to escort serpentine Sata MC to State House as President of Zambia. Its not HH who is popular but UPND as a party and so PF will do well to recognise the appeal that UPND has in 7 provinces of Zambia except Northern and Luapula provinces which are Bemba occupied areas — indicating a complex by our colleagues from the Northern part of Zambia.

Certainly, the author Sity Mwitu of the above article has missed the mark and concentrated on HH as an individual in lieu of considering UPND as a party that wants or is offerring to serve Zambians — even out of the mismanagement of our merger resources as a Nation by the MMD successive GRZ Administrations where Mr PF unelected leader Sata MC served as Minister of Local Government and Housing, Minister of Health, Minister without Portifolio, etc and MMD National Secretary.

Have blessed day all and never allow a liar to cheat you into believing that UPND is a group of people that will be rode on by PF illiterates.

come and check out chingola, producer of copper, and you will understand the need for action oriented leaders. Ones who are not always going to be taking flights abroad to bring tourists as investors just to watch the bad state of affairs and taking our money… This current president hasnt seen the things on the ground neither does his ministers, they only tell him wot he will b pleased with. We need seriousness, if going pact to remove this dreadful accident then we is all we can do…

gud advice author,HH should listen or ………

  33. prince ceekay  February 16, 2011 at 21:09

Having taken my quality time to go through the entire article nd comments posted on this matter. I would gladly conclude by saying, let’s not exchange words by being one sided. Am not PF nor UPND. But I have learnt a lesson from your analyses. Let not PF and its leader as well as UPND and its leader cheat themselves. As long as either goes one out we are allowing MMD to hold on to power. May UPND and PF convene a combined meeting to formulate what’s good for Zambia and its nationals. HH is a good leader as much as Sata. May we give them support on how to develop our nation. My humble plea to our leaders HH and Sata is to find time to coordinate and tighten all the needfuls for their political success. May GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.

  34. Alex(the Chosen one)  February 16, 2011 at 21:07

I have read and understood the Nonsense of the sense the author has tabulated. Most of the anti Sata have rushed to comment and their anger have fallen out. The sense in the article has been nicely written from the author HH has never held a low post since his step in politics HH has money, educated and power is what he has to sacrifice now so that he becomes the first youngest president Zambia has ever had. HH there is still room for you to serve Zambia with PF go for it.

  35. Osmuka  February 16, 2011 at 21:02

I like HH because l know that he can make a good President of our country that’s in dare need of selfless leaders. Nevertheless, the people that surround him leave much to desire.for example some of the blogers here.lt is like they were suffering from some conditions that are not normal.l think one of these conditions is inferiolity complex.ln most cases when you find a dog that burks a lot it is a uselless one that you do not need to really on for protection. You don’t need to always claim to know it all. That ‘s unwise. You don’t need to insult Mwitu but analyse in a mature way so as to educate us the readers why your proposition is correct and not his.How are we going to differentiate a noble person from a ‘kaponya’.Who knows you maybe just those cowards that would scare you but when charge at them you find they are indeed nothing. Upnd you’re on the record to have been the first ones to denounce your partners leader the way you’r have been doing it.lt is unacceptable. This just tells that from the word go you never entered into the pact in sincerity. You have been exactl y what you accuse your partners. Let the day of tripatite elections come so that more lessons can be learnt.Upnd ,why can’t you accept the position other parties accepted under UDA?Indeed Mwitu walasa.Humility is important. A day to accept realities on the part of upnd will come. Forget winning the elections alone upnd whether it’s Clive or HH.At one time some of upnd have said,’lt is better to go for Rb if HH accepts the vice presidence than to have Sata as President of the pact .’ls this what you call education. Are you being principled? You had better join MMD now. Are you even different from the MMD?Then, the way the rebal Mps have behaved and the way the speeker of our national assambly has been shielding them ,to you it is normal in a democrace.Soon ,according to the political enviroment in Zambia upnd will learn you had more to gain than Sata. I woder what could become of Zambia if HH were to win the presidence .More than William Banda type of cadres. Can someone help me with the statistics of which region has more educated people in this country.

  36. The Dude  February 16, 2011 at 20:47

Did the auther pass his English? Couldn’t finish the article. Anyway the picture in the article was published the post during the Mufumbwe by election.. So this is PF at work. But I would urge HH to go it alone!

  37. Dawa1  February 16, 2011 at 20:37

The article is too long only read few lines that did make sense and could not continue. I have HH`s resume on my PC so far there is no politician in Zambia that can match HH`s leadership and mangement capabilities. Lack of sound leadership and management at national level is what has caused Zambia to what what it is. The writer says HH should have allowed Sikota to take over thre UPND presidency, i guess the best way to determine whether Sikota was capable is how he has managed his ULP. What ULP is now is what UPND should have been if Sikota was UPND president.

  38. Samuel Chota  February 16, 2011 at 19:41

There is no point in creating an unworkable alliance with a known despot just to kick out MMD. It is not about HH, laedership is about compromise, persuasion and common goal. There is utterly nothing in common between UPND and PF. Actually, PF is closer to UNIP if you look at what they call a manifesto except that so far non of what the manifesto says has ever been followed. UPND should contest this year’s presidency. HH win or lose should defined step aside for someone else and he too will have to lead the party as a separate entity into elections. I only hope it will be Chirwa.
Please understand that Mr. Sata is a comedian thats why artists like Gay Scott like him. Don’t be fooled by his reference to investors as infesters, he actually has no orderly plan to re organize investment in Zambia just like he has no orderly plan for PF itself. That’s why he wanted the Taiwanese PM on his swearing in in 2008. He is belligerent. HH should look elsewhere for lessons.

  39. Maestro Hhehhehhehhe for 2011 would-b President of Zambia HH  February 16, 2011 at 19:17

On “Although the people of Western Province still had mixed feelings about Sata, they gave their backing to ULP and this is how ULP won some seats. Ms. Nawakwi had put all her eggs in one political basket called UPND and when the political basket fell down and broke, all her eggs also broke” it is regretable that the terrible writer of this article has tried to put Mr Sata MC of PF as a person who helped ULP’s Sakwiba Sikota and that FDD’s Edith Nawakwi did something for HH’s UPND when the truth is that Sikota won because people of the sOUTHERN Province vote for quality and nothing else while Edith Nawakwi was a very selfish character that failed to campaign for HH in the Zambian areas where she had political capital.

I hope the UPND Team will not allow Sata MC to waste the Southern Province, North-Western and other areas of Zambia votes where UPND is popular just by trying to make UPND become Zambian President in future rather than now.

What the writer and other PF Bemba-Kaponyas need to understand is that it is not about HH becoming Zambian President but about UPND forming GRZ Administration. Thus, PF Zwaa mu-PACT and UPND please go it alone and Zambian voters will decide whether to vote for you as Councillors, MPs and President of Zambia alone in the voting booths.

    Be blest all.
