Street vendors using beer packs as toilets – Kapata

PF government’s decision to allow vendors to trade on the streets has given rise to sanitation challenge.

The lack of toilets has resulted in some vendors using opaque beer packs to answer the call of nature.

The Lusaka City Council has since warned vendors of serious action.
Council public relations officer Henry Kapata clarifies that besides the increased garbage on the streets some vendors are creating a public nuisance by using beer packs as toilets.

He says council workers are having difficulties to clean the streets as they have to handle human waste.

  1. Kapata should have been the mayor of lusaka. Maybe he could have put some sense in Sata’s head. Sata introduced street vending with kafupi to keep the mmd in power and he is using his own tricks to keep pf in power. why can’t vendors be allowed to sell in front of state house if he thinks vending on the streets is ok.

  4. Zambia is ‘Animal Farm’. Kaponyas are more equal than some of you. Don’t cry foul after misvoting!! Cholera, dysentry and all diarrheoa diseases are due to povert of the mind. Kaponyas urinate and shit while you watch with awe; they have no qualms about it…

Does the President have any care about our health…He is more interested in your vote…than the tundaling and shittingin public issue. Kapata has no powers to deter those hooligans… I feel sorry for a hardworking man like him…

As a peoples government lets look into the issue I mean Cholera has been our neighbor for years let us not welcome him into our house now through pupu here and pupu there. PF you did not win by chance it was a well deserved win let us not let the vendors direct our policies. I am sure the govt. has taken note and within 90 days it will be corrected.

  19. Its not too late to reverse this decision by the president. There no shame in admitting the decision was wrong and rescind it. For the health of the nation, the president should be well advised to recant for the dirt, chaos, vermin, disorder, unhygeinic conditions, and crime infestation that has resulted is deplorable. We are sitting on the cusp of epidemics in the towns. The people who own shops have lost business. Luo, Chikwanda, Sichinga, etc confer with your boss to see reason. We know he is hard headed, but he must listen. If he fails you will all have failed as government!

People who knew him well warned us that he was deadily but Zambians never believed and went ahead to have him as president only to have him ask street vendors to shit in the streets. they should also be allowed to shit at state house and parlaiment.

Instead of spending money moving towns from here to there and creating Districts without proper budget, the little money that is there for emergency could be spent on bulding more public toilets in more conjested towns…….But atlas, come tomorrow, Sata will come up with more and more unbudgeted for exorbitant lunatic nonsense.

Anyway verything will be reversed in SEVEN MONTHS!!!!! Ask Dora…..

  42. This is what we asked for. Top Zambian management seem to like it that way. Just keep on cleaning amafi or matuvi from the streets at least for the next five years (God forbid) of PF in power. If anything these faeces will multiply since more and more people are coming to the streets to have more money in their pockets. Nikulimba guys just keep on collecting human garbage in form of faeces for the next five years (God forbid) its a rule now to shit in the streets where you trade from. I end here!
