Sata’s company takes over all Govt advertising contracts

Sata cheating his way to State houseAll advertising contracts for government and key parastatals in the mainstream media will now be handled by President Michael Sata’s company, City Advertising Zambia Limited.

The greeady and corrupt move by dictator Michael Sata means that a lot of youths and other small businesses and even established advertising companies will lose businesses.

State House sources have told the Watchdog that Sata’s company, City Advertisers domiciled at Farmers House on Cairo Road, which initiated, and still runs Sangwapo Adverts in the Patriotic Front controlled and run newspaper, The Post, is now the official advertising agent for all government activities.

Sources have disclosed that key institutions such as the Road Development Agency (RDA) have been ordered to channel all their print and electronic advertisements and payments to City Advertisers.

RDA was recently transferred to State House under the president’s office and regularly runs full-page newspaper adverts worthy billions of kwachas.

Advertisements for the government and its parastatal wings runs in billions of kwacha.

The media industry in Zambia employs hundreds of sales executives, mainly youths who obtain advertisements from both private and public institutions for a living.

The move to corruptly award Sata’s firm as the sole advertising agent for government has effectively sent these sales executives in the streets.

Some of the advertising agents complained that it was now hard for them to attract advertising contracts where they earn a commission because most of their clients in government and parastatals channel adverts through City Advertisers, Sata’s company.

Less than six months in office, president Michael Sata increased his personal salary by more than 100 per cent. He is already building his retirement hoouse.

    @Chisenga: DON’T BE NAIVE!
THE REASON HE DOES NOT HOLD PRESS CONFERENCES IS BECAUSE LIKE THE DICTATOR HE IS, HE FEELS HE IS NOT ACCOUNTABLE TO ANYONE APART FROM HIMSELF. JUST AS PF BELONGS TO HIM, ZAMBIA NOW BELONGS TO HIM.
A DISCIPLINED EDUCATED MIND DOES NOT GET EXCITED BUT LISTENS TO CRITICISM AND IS ANALYTICAL AND ALLOWS FOR DIFFERENCES OF PERSPECTIVES TO ISSUES.
THIS IS NOT FOR PEOPLE LIKE KK AND SATA

Indeed it is a good story but mere gossip or grape vine. At times before we blow the horn let us understand the reason for the decision. Do not start pouring scourn over a tissue instead let us discuss issues. Yes City advertisers may be for ba kateka but find out the process used to award the jobs to it. Look at the positive side of PF. The best is yet to come. Mark,my words the best is yet to come.

No my brother (sister )it’s a fact that some executives paid ad much as 30million to Rupiah’s children to see the President! But Rupiah’s strength was prudent national economic management,if Sata serves a full term hyper inflation will come, he is so corrupt that he makes Rupiah look like a saint.

    • The Advisor  December 24, 2012 at 11:13

I like your point. Its very true that) was not a saint but PF makes him look like one.

Most bloggers on this site say that the Post misled them to think RB ‘s gvnt was corrupt. But one wonders if all stories by ZWD are gospel truth, people let’s critically analyse whatever comes written. People seem to have harboured so much anger, pain and hate on unsubstantiated stories. I see WD to be worser than the Post, some how I come to agree with Shikapwasha when he said the media can cause war like what happened in Rwanda. For your information to me both the Post and ZWD have special inclination in their reporting trying to foster their hidden objectives. LT is better than all and responsible.

    • Kalu  December 25, 2012 at 12:01

Well said. For me,I believe the Post makes unintentional errors whilst ZD writes lies(or a mixture of lies and truths) intentionally. As for RB,time will tell.

  16. North Westerner  December 24, 2012 at 08:52

The extent of Sata’s corruption beats that of RB and FTJ combined in their first year in office. And RB and FTJ were really corrupt characters. Give Sata another 4 years he’ll run this country broke

  17. TINKWINK  December 24, 2012 at 08:50

This our complacency as Zambians is what makes these dictators go all the way. Why should we wait till 2016?

We waited for 2011 to vote RB out and where are we now? Should people continue dying because of poor health infrastructure, lack of medicnes, poor staffing and we wait for 2016! Our education system is not anything to talk about; millions of youths are jobless, roaming th streets hopelessly, should we wait until 2016 when they are past their productive age? You cant talk about the poverty levels, poor water and sanitation, our roads, corruption, crime, and we should wait for 2016?

The majority of us who can blog here are probably mid class citizens who can afford a meal, some air time to ve internet access, some mode of transport to see you to and fro.

Think about th poor women in markets wher you occassionally buy your vegetables, think about th street kids whose names ve become “carrier bag” who line up th corridors and markets to sell you a zmk 500 carrier bag, think about those sch boys n girls in th village who ve no access to any books or tv to catch up with sata’s ever changing govt, reallignments and creation of new provinces and districts. You see, th only book available there is th atlas, how do expect these poor kids to compete with those at nkwazi, simba to name but a few? Do we still ve to wait for 2016?

They say “if you do not know where you are going, which route to take, definitely your destination is where you are”. You see, we cant ve th same mulongotis, satas, nawakwis, masebos, namulambes, decades in decades out n expect any change, any different thinking. A hyena will always be a hyena, just like a dog will always be dog whether you dress it in a suit or not.

You th youths should stop this hero worshipping and caderism to change th system, th leadership, object to these ridiculous things if there has to be positive change. No one is going to eat peace, dress peace, drive peace. All dictators need to be kicked out. You do not owe your life to kabimba’s rhetorism or sata’s mercies. We cant let a few corrupt fellows determine our destiny and for sure we cant wait for 2016.

Chiluba was not a farmer (street kid) = agriculture suffered for 10 years (we relied on imported maize from SA)
Mwanawasa was a farmer = agriculture policies improved, hence bumper harvests
RB was a farmer = Levy’s good agriculture policies continued, more bumper harvests.
Sata not a farmer (Kaponya)= signs are showing that he will be worse than Chiluba. Food shortages have come for good, brace yourselves.

REASON WHY HE DOES NOT HOLD PRESS CONFERENCES TO ANSWER WHY HE HAS BEEN ALLERGIC TO CORRUPTION FOR ONLY 90 DAYS

    • Chisenga  December 24, 2012 at 09:41

MY BELOVED PRESIDENT IS NOT SO GOOD AT HANDLING PRESS CONFERENCES. THE MAN GETS EMOTIONAL BECOMES EXCITED. HE CAN SAY ANYTHING. SO FOR GOODNESS SAKE. HE PROBABLY WILL DO WELL NOT TO DARE TO GO FOR A PRESS CONFERENCE. BESIDES WHAT IS A PRESS CONFERENCE FOR? THERE ARE MANY CHANNELS OF COMMUNICATING WITH THE PRESS. HOW MANY PRESS CNFERENCES HAS NEVERS MUMBA HELD? AND WHAT HAVE THEY HELPED TO RESOLVE? HOW MANY P/ CONFERENCES HAS HH (MR IBU) HELD AND WHAT HAS THAT HELPED?
THAT IS SATAS STYLE OF LEADERSHIP. LIKE IT OR LEAVE IT.THERE IS A LOT OF BRIGHT FUTURE WITH THIS MAN AND THIS COUNTRY WILL DEVELOP UNDER HIS LEADERSHIP. SO SPARE THE MAN THE P/CONFERENCES.
