Mugabe says next AU summit will discuss one president for Africa

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe says the forthcoming African Union summit should discuss the appointment of a president of Africa to foster unity among Africans, a report said on Wednesday.

Addressing journalists after meeting with President Thomas Boni Yayi of Benin in Harare, Mugabe said such a move “would also ensure that member states adhere to the founding principles of the continental body”, Newsday online reported.

“Yes, we need a president for Africa,” Mugabe said. “That is what we are going to discuss at the AU summit. Africa is not a united continent. We are not at the stage our founding fathers wanted us to be when the organ was formed.”

Mugabe said the AU had failed to integrate Africans, with some seen in the context of Anglophones and others Francophones.

The proposal to set up a United States of Africa was first made by the slain Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in 1999 as a way of ending the continent’s conflicts, but it failed to secure enough support from his African counterparts with some suspecting Gaddafi wanted to rule Africa.

Yayi who is the outgoing AU chairperson said he was in Zimbabwe to discuss the challenges Africa was facing as a continent and to get advice on ways to end conflict, in countries like the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali and Central African Republic, among others.

To my brothers in Africa and all those scattered all over the world. It is general knowledge that there are those who are benefitting from every war fought in every part of the world. These are forces who will not allow you and me to unite as one Africa because they know that a United States of Africa means a world power. They will do everything to sow seeds of division in form of civil wars so that they can continue looting our resources in the name of peace keeping and promoting democracy. They create a war inorder to have access to plunder local resources be it oil or minerals.Africa wake up and be united. We need the United States of Africa if we are to be counted as humans. We need the United States of Africa if our voice is to be heard. We need the United States of Africa if we need to stop the plunder of our resorces.God bless Africa,God bless the coming United States Of Africa

This is the only way forward. You are paying high price for not listening to our founding fathers, I support this and I will continue to support it. Till the day we shall have the United States of Africa. Together we can make it .Look at the resource DR Congo has , look at Nigeria, look at Anogol . the good example of what all of African countries would have being if we became united is the way South Africa is. everyone likes visiting JNB and Cape town. but you need to ask where did these richs come from . they came from within South Africa and Africa. United we stand, divided we fall. One Africa is my dream, one day my grandchildren will live in one Africa, where they will not need any passport or visa to visit Cairo,Cape town.

Mugabe and his colleagues should meet to find a way of sending all African Arabs back to the middle east, their home land. Africa should be for Indigenous Africans. How can we have one president for Africa when Islam and Christianity can not coexist? I look forward to the day Israel and Palestine will be one united country under one religion and president.

AU is a let down to the people of Africa. Where is the leadership when you let France bring troops in Mali, AU and ECOWAS should have intervened. Insurgents are killed by these foreigners who want to ripe Africa of its mineral resources. Say no to such mockery by these criminals. Africans raise to the challenge of jobs and wealth creation, hence it calls for change of mindset otherwise we will remain stagnant and poor.
