Now Zambian women question Sata’s love for Public Order Act

The women movement in Zambia is demanding for an explanation from President Michael Sata on why he now thinks the Public Order Act, a draconian piece of legislation, is a good law.

The Non-Governmental Organization Coordinating Council (NGOCC) says it is shocking to learn that President Sata was now praising the same law he condemned during his time in opposition.

NGOCC board chairperson Beatrice Grillo says it is disappointing that Sata, now Head of State, sees the Public Order Act as a good piece of legislation.

Grillo says President Sata should share the good things he has come to appreciate about the Public Order Act so that the people of Zambia can appreciate it with him.

Speaking to QFM News, Grillo says it is not satisfying for the President to simply say he has found the Public Order Act useful but must give more information on how it has become useful.

The NGOCC board chairperson says the responsibility now lies with the President to settle the scores about the public order act.

President Sata is using the Public Order Act to instruct the Zambia Police to stop meetings by the opposition in what is widely being condemned as an infringement on fundamental rights of assembly, association and free speech.

Why is PF arresting Lozis wearing bangles?

Chiwamila galu kaili……now that the tables have turned Sata seems to have forgotten everything he claimed to stand for.

HOW? Don’t make assertions that you cannot validate. Its an archaic law which outlived its usefulness when we gained our independence from the colonial masters.

  3. Mubanga  November 6, 2012 at 19:59

It is not shocking at all. That is the nature of Sata. He is unstable!

  4. encyclical  November 6, 2012 at 19:56

What is this Grillo woman complaining about? Doesn’t she have Dora Siliya’s address or mobile number to find out what FLIP FLOP MEANS?

  5. King  November 6, 2012 at 19:32

On 24th oct he honored those who were breaching the same public order act under colonial rule. If the law is ok those freedom fighters dserved 2 b arrested.

MAN OF ACTION IS WHAT THE NGOCC VOTED FOR WHY SHOULD THEY COMPLAIN NOW. YOU MEAN ALL THOSE SUPPOSED WISE WOMEN DIDN’T KNOW THIS MAN AT THEIR AGE WHEN US BORN ONLY RECENTLY CAME TO KNOW THE SERPENT.
PLIZ SHUT UP GLIRO OR WHAT EVER YO NAME IS AND WAIT IN PAIN TILL 2016

    • encyclical  November 6, 2012 at 19:48

Instead of questioning Sata who Grillo and her minions supported last year, Grillo should turn her frustrations to Nawakwi. In the meantime Grillo should wait in pain till 2016.

  10. Pankolobwato  November 6, 2012 at 15:23

In five years time, the name sata will be synonymous with something akin to embarrassing madness.

IT IS DON’T KUBEBA POLICY OF PF AT WORK. THE ONLY PF CAN KEEP THE MASSES UNINFORMED IS DON’T KUBEBA WHICH CAN ONLY BE ACCHIEVED BY SILENCING THE OPPOSITION BY DENYING THEM PERMITS FOR MEETINGS, WHICH CAN ONLY BE DONE THROUGH THE PUBLIC ORDER ACT. THE TWIT IS SCARED OF HIS FAILING CAMPAIGN PROMISES, HE CONTROLLS ZNBC, DAILY ,TIMES OF ZAMBIA AND SUPPORTED BY THE HOMSEXUAL MMEMBE’S POST, HE FEARS THE OPPOSITION WILL EXPOSE AND CRITIZE HIS LIES AND FAILURES IN PUBLIC, SO INVOKE THE PUBLIC ORDER ACT TO KEEP THEM UNDER TAB. THE FOOL DOES NOT KNOW THAT IT IS LIKE DELAYING AN EXPLOSION TO LET IT GAIN MORE MOMENTUM BEFORE YOU LET IT EXPLODE. TIME IS CATCHING UP WITH LIARS.

  13. Honest  November 6, 2012 at 15:12

Public Order Act (POA) is incompatible with tenets of democracy. Yhe president in short is telling the nation that what MMD did to him whilst in the opposition was good.Which I for one do not aggree too.

  29. Spectator Kalaki  November 6, 2012 at 12:30

Grillo might instead have asked him whether he ever thinks before he opens his mouth.

  30. Chilufyanya Satana  November 6, 2012 at 12:19

He is scared that the opposition will tell pipo how he cheated. In short Ukwa is a coward.

  31. Goat  November 6, 2012 at 12:13

The womens group are right. Sata is Mad to love a colonial law which he condemned when in opposition.

    Sata ni Chimbwi no Plan.

    • voka  November 6, 2012 at 12:28

Respect your president. This same Grillo woman, what and who does she protect or speak for. which women does she speak for. This woman’s fight is selective. I dont trust her. Anyway she is just being used. She protects the rich and powerful women friends while she neglects those women who are poor and unknown. This NGOCC is simply fake.

      • CHIPS2016HH  November 6, 2012 at 14:23

@ Voka don’t argue Sata is mad for he has now embrased public order act of colonial rule.He strongly condemned it while in oppositin, just accept that you took a mad man to state house. He is now more confused.see how the country is performing, very baad!

DONT SHUSHA. This grillo woman is speaking from without. this public order act has been there before PF came into power. Now what has really summoned Grillow courage. I for one will never respect grillo because she is protecting a woman (Mrs Raelly) who caused my aunts dismissal at MOF through her scheming. what is this Grillo woman doing about it. She is fake.
