The technical committee on drafting the Republican Constitution has removed Simon Kabanda, a former Catholic priest and PF cadre, as its spokesperson replacing him with Lusaka lawyer Ernest Mwansa.

In a statement made available to Qfm News, the committee has however not given reasons for Kabanda’s removal.

The Zambian Watchdog recently revealed that Kabanda was implicated in theft scandal at the Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) where he fraudulently benefitted from K71 million meant for the process.

Some prominent artists were also named in the scandal engineered by Kabanda leaving the committee dumb-faced and without option but to make immediate changes to their set up.

Meanwhile, the technical committee has announced that district consultative fora on the constitution making process have successfully been held in all districts of the North western, Copperbelt, Lusaka, Southern, Central and Eastern provinces.

The committee has further announced that the third and final round of the district consultative fora comprising Luapula, Muchinga, Northern and Western provinces which began on October 29 concludes today.

The district fora will pave way for the provincial conventions which will examine, and deliberate on the clauses of the first draft constitution, consider the report of the technical committee and comments and recommendations of the district fora.
