PF Cadre Kabanda dropped as constitution committee spokesperson

Simon Kabanda

The technical committee on drafting the Republican Constitution has removed Simon Kabanda, a former Catholic priest and PF cadre, as its spokesperson replacing him with Lusaka lawyer Ernest Mwansa.

In a statement made available to Qfm News, the committee has however not given reasons for Kabanda’s removal.

The Zambian Watchdog recently revealed that Kabanda was implicated in theft scandal at the Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) where he fraudulently benefitted from K71 million meant for the process.

Some prominent artists were also named in the scandal engineered by Kabanda leaving the committee dumb-faced and without option but to make immediate changes to their set up.

Meanwhile, the technical committee has announced that district consultative fora on the constitution making process have successfully been held in all districts of the North western, Copperbelt, Lusaka, Southern, Central and Eastern provinces.

The committee has further announced that the third and final round of the district consultative fora comprising Luapula, Muchinga, Northern and Western provinces which began on October 29 concludes today.

The district fora will pave way for the provincial conventions which will examine, and deliberate on the clauses of the first draft constitution, consider the report of the technical committee and comments and recommendations of the district fora.

Kabanda has brought shame on himself and that of many other Zambians that trusted him. The guilt quartet are Kabanda, Callen Chisha, Brian Chilala and Davies Ngoma (Nasty D).

Did you know that MC Wabwino, Edify Hamukale and Moses Sakala were declared innocent of the scandal by the police and ZAM?

How can we trust our constitution outcome with Kabanda at the center of fraud?

I think the majority true decent Bembas are as much victims as the rest of us. True Bembas are thoughtful and very decent people. A clique of thieving people have hijacked the Bemba tribal name for their own selfish greed and the majority people should be annoyed that these thugs are destroying the unity of Zambia in their name. The fact is the majority Bemba people face the same poverty and hunger as the rest of our people. The majority decent Bemba people need to start disassociating themselves from these people who in certain cases dont even belong to the true mulubembas. Please tell them “not in our name” because if the truth be known they are playing the “dont kubeba” on the majority Bembas as well. I am not Bemba but I know most Bembas are very honest and are nationalists in the One Zambia, One Nation mould.

Our constitution is a contradiction. It says there is freedom of religion, also says christian nation, also says no anti christian teachings… We don’t want religion mixed in politics, please leave religion alone and let us pray in peace. Remove all reference to religion exept that we are free to choose or not to choose and follow any religion

If you think these two tribes joke about Bembas wait untill a Tonga or Lozi becomes president. Why having house of chiefs if they can not solve the problem of Tongas Bembas and lozis. WHAT HAVE WE DONE TO YOU THAT WE CAN NOT PAY BACK? There are Tongas and lozi thievs you have just made them HEROS and yet on record they are greatest thievs this country has ever seen

    • Royal Joe  November 3, 2012 at 18:52

Yes,generalising is bad,we have tonga womanisers but not all, lozi drunks but not all, nyanja liars yet not all..bemba thieves yet not all.

Ethnic discrimination (tribalism) cannot cease now because sata is the leading practitioner of the vice.Zambia requires a better and true nationalist to hold it together and embrace a 21st century mentality for all round development.

Yeah that’s just being an idiot to call all bembas thieves my friend is pastor and his Bemba and his a wonderful man of God yes there are bembas that are thieves so are they Lozis that are thieves easterners etc so this crap of calling people thieves because Bemba politicians are thieves is not justified its a group of corrupt politicians don’t mean all bembas is are bad ,Infact that’s what the want you believe so you can hate the Bemba, these guys the politicians have no good intended for this country hence the continual , trible issues

    • Times of Zed  November 3, 2012 at 14:13

Hey…don’t call Lozis thieves you kolwestan….

    • ine wine  November 3, 2012 at 16:57

low calibre people will never understand you – denial denial denial. i am lozi but i can never utter such useless tribal remarks about others. at the rate things are moving, we will start announcing our tribes before you enter any place. actually its nonsense to state your tribe. you are zambian period

  16. Mwaji onera  November 3, 2012 at 13:56

Yes. Lets avoid tribalism.the fact that Sata is tribal doesnt make all Bembaz tribal.Remember for instance that FTJ wasnt tribal.see also you who lebel all Bembaz as tribal will one day need their vote-atleast to win.ask the late Mazoka.for him to have gone that far,the bemba vote was vital.am personally Tumbuka and strongly detest Sata’s tribalism bt will in no way hate all bembaz!

  17. Bamfumu  November 3, 2012 at 13:53

Let the due process of the law take its course, there should no sacred cows. Was it a case of mwalya sana seleniko naifwe tulyeko? Am kind of confused with what is happening in our beautiful country. Ba bambo sure!

  18. Kay Love  November 3, 2012 at 13:28

    Those beards awee mweeh!
As for the constitution, Barotseland shall never be part and parcel of Bembalisation constitution.
Everyday is a Bemba promoted. What about the other tribes?
Common, where is this nation going?

  19. Mubanga  November 3, 2012 at 12:45

    Meanwhile, congrats to Simon!
    You deserve being dropped!

  20. Thermometer  November 3, 2012 at 11:44

Guys, this tribalism and everything that goes with it is not good for our country. Please, please let us unite, we are all Zambians. I am Bemba and do not agree with what is going on at the moment, but to call all of us thieves is not fair, because there are some very genuine and honest Bembas out there who have in most cases been duped by the holier than thou!!!!

    • Mubanga  November 3, 2012 at 12:44

I agree with you. However, I am not usually moved because I know that there are some Bembas that are not thieves just like there are other tribes that are thieves like some named Bembas. So never mind. One Zambia, One Nation!

      • Volcano  November 3, 2012 at 14:02

I also agree that not all Bembas are bad. I am a pure breed Lozi but all my friends are mostly Bemba, some of them very prominent personalities in Society. I am married to a Bemba from Chinsali. The only problem some Bembas have is mob thinking. They tend to support anything wether wrong or right as long as it involves a fellow Bemba. We should all condem wrong things without tribakl inclination.

  21. Mr Kiss  November 3, 2012 at 11:33

There is a position waiting for him.just wait you will hear he has been appointed some where just like suba

  22. Mwana Ka Kalunda  November 3, 2012 at 11:26

True Bembas are not thieves, unfortunately a core group of scammers have fraudlently used the Bemba tag in the “Dont Kubeba” format to hoodwink the majority good Bembas and the general Zambian public in their schemes to enrich themselves at the expense of all. Dig deep and you will find that some of these people are not even the mulubembas but belong to other smaller ethnic groups using the Bemba people for political mileage. True Bembas need to start disassociating themselves from these people who are destroying the name of the majority decent and nationalistic Bembas. The mantra should be ” not in our name as Bembas”. I am not Bemba, Iam Lunda, therefore I am not defending the indefesible, i just happen to know a lot of good Bemba and feel they dont deserve wholesale condemnation for they are being duped like the rest of us.

    • Mulamu  November 3, 2012 at 10:39

You are not alone dear me too am very ashamed,am no longer a proud bemba.

    • man of the people  November 3, 2012 at 13:09

ONCE AGAIN, SHETANI,AM REMINDING YOU NOT TO BE ASHAMED TO BE BEMBA. SOME OF THESE COMMENTS ARE BEING PROPAGATED BY HARDCORE TRIBALISTS WHO WANT TO SUGGEST THIEVING IS A BEMBA WAY OF LIFE. OVER 70% BEMBAS ARE CLEAN. WE MAY BE ASHAMED AS ZAMBIANS, THOUGH, THAT SUCH DEVICES ARE HAPPENING. YOU MAY WISH TO KNOW THAT WHEN NAMES LIKE PROFFESOR MWENE, MAZOKA.HAKAINDE, STELLA CHIBANDA ARE MENTIONED IN CONNECTION TO SOME SUSPECTED FRAUD, IT ONLY ENDS AT MENTION STAGE BUT GETTING A LOT OF DEFENSE FROM TRIBES’ MATES, SAD. YOU KNOW THE TONGA/ILA CORRUPTION ACCUSED CHAP, BUT APPOINTED P/S AT SPORT IN ACTION BY MWANAWASA. THIS NEGATIVE TRIBALISM WILL DESTROY THIS COUNTRY. YES THIEVING IS BAD, UNPRODUCTIVE AND AS SUCH, WE CAN NOT DEFEND IT. AS FOR KABANDA, IT IS EMBARRASING NOT BECAUSE HE IS BEMBA BUT HE HAS BEEN IN THE FOREFRONT OF DEMONIZING A LOT OF PEOPLE. HE IS A FAILED CATHOLIC PRIEST, OUTSPOKEN CIVIC LEADER BUT PRETENDER WHO OPPOSED NCC BUSINESS THROUGH AND THROUGH BUT HAS FALLEN AND PRAYING HARD THAT CONSTITUTIONAL DELIBERATIONS TAKE ANOTHER THREE YEARS TO BE PERFECTED.
