Ministers Sampa, Luo caught on camera browsing Zambian Watchdog during meeting

The PF government is relentlessly fighting online media but its top members are key followers of major websites reporting on Zambian politics.

On Tuesday, finance deputy minister Miles Sampa – President Sata’s nephew – and  minister in charge of chiefs Nkandu Luo, were caught on camera during a Lusaka council meeting keenly browsing the Zambian Watchdog as deliberations were underway.

This was on Monday during a full council meeting which was also attended by Vice-President Guy Scott who is Lusaka Central MP, Mandevu MP Jean Kapata, Matero MP Miles Sampa, Kabwata MP Given Lubinda and Chawama MP Edgar Lungu.
Thirty councillors out of the 33 were present at the meeting which started at 14:55 hours and closed after 18:00 hours.

Click here to watch Sampa and Luo browse Watchdog instead of paying attention in the meeting.

The latest attack on the PF government on online publications is coming from Clement Andeleki – the Registrar of Societies in Zambia.

Andeleki has given the Zambian Watchdog a 48-hour ultimatum to provide a physical address and pay up K18 billion or face de-registration.

President Michael Sata, Wynter Kabimba (justice), Goeffrey Bwalya Mwamba (defence), Given Lubinda (foreign) and information permanet secretary Amos Malupenga have all among top PF officials wanting to see the Zambian Watchdog disappear.

Let the pathetic fellow ministers read the ZWD – the door of hope; I gues they are fade up of those fack praises by the post mumbembele newspaper.

  2. Busi  October 3, 2012 at 09:46

Council meetings are meant to discuss development issues but our two ministers were busy reading Zambia Watchdog – on duty?

  3. choked with data  October 3, 2012 at 09:43

Kilometre Sampa and Clueless Luo have something in common…..They are both obsessed with extra marital affiars.

This site is simply addictive, it carters for both crazy and sane pipo which is the very axis of life. It has given us a fresh breath amidst the boring govt mouth pieces- ZNBC, POST, Times & Daily. Social networking has come to stay, just enjoy it bane, no need to threaten to close these sites coz you also have an opportunity to air your views,it even allows you to insult, I mean where do you get such opportunities to distress apart from ZWD? Viva ZWD, I love the craziness………

  5. London  October 3, 2012 at 09:10

So Sata’s ministers know how sweet the watch dog is? Very good news!

  6. Zed Patriot  October 3, 2012 at 09:07

Honourables Sampa & Luo, since you read the watchdog I advise you to prevail over you colleagues who are against the publiction to back off. Instead of killing the messenger, use ZWD to help you plan how to fulfill the needs of Zambians.

  7. james  October 3, 2012 at 08:44

What’s wrong with that. As a leader you have to read all papers in order to be in touch with what’s on like it or not.

  8. zagaze  October 3, 2012 at 08:42

This should be the best clip for you guys (ZWD & MUVI) we need more of such surprises in our media.

Its like when senior American politicians are caught thinking they are off mic. n camera yet the whole world is watching & listening to thr talk.

I would only advise my fellow bloggers at least to minimize insults even if other issues touch us directly. this will improve our strength b4 our “rivalry”.
    Stay Wisely & Blessed

  10. Honest  October 3, 2012 at 08:33

Its hypocrisy to burry your face and shun the reality rather take it on. Press freedom is for the good of everyone. As for the post I last bought the last copy in December 2010 when it became clear that it had compromised itself. Viva ZWD.

  11. Chibe  October 3, 2012 at 08:18

Is it not Sata who allowed an opposition radio station from Malawi under the late Wamutarika to operate in Zambia???? what goes around come around. What make Sata think that no neighboring country can allow WD to operate on their soil??????? After all

    • Kajili jiri  October 3, 2012 at 11:29

DID THIS PROMISE TAKE OFF? I dont think so, lets check with Chikopa at the Pamodzi Hotel (or is it Inters?)

  18. Suzgo  October 3, 2012 at 07:44

Does deregistration of ZWD stop it from operating as an online publication or it will just be a formality? Without ZWD we would not have known about scandals in govt like the Zumbunu saga, GBM contracts(which The Lost newspapers has now started reporting on), petrolium oil procurement, the illegal increase of the president’s salary by more than 100%(who claims to have the heart for the poor) and many more. If ZWD is choking Andeleki’s ass, let him go hang. We want to know the truth of what is happening in govt because only the TRUTH SHALL SET FREE and in the next elections we shall vote having full information of govt achievements and failures.

  31. beene  October 3, 2012 at 07:20

How do you ask a company registered in a foreign country to pay taxes in Zambia?
The only way watchdog can be stopped from informing people pf the truth is to ban all foreign websites.
Then it will clearly seen that Ukwa has intentions of making Zambia like north Korea.

Maybe thats why he is going there this week to train under a well organised dictator on how to run a country into the ground and destroy it’s economy like Mugabe has done.

First he gets Daily Mail to join IRIN,then he goes to New York and talks Arabic. Next he will having lunch with Bashir in Sudan.
    Ukwanomics is destroying the motherland.
Maize is rotting around the country but Ukwa is getting Fat like his brother down south.

  32. EMMY  October 3, 2012 at 07:18

When you look at the Post Newspaper, Zambian Daily Mail is even much better nowadays. The Post has outlived its usefulness, it reached pick during last year’s elections and is now on a decline.

I don’t think the PF is happy with those praises Mmembe sings about them everyday in his brochure. The praises have reached a point when they are now irritating. It feels disgusting. A friend who means well for you can never be singing praises to you even when you are wrong. It means he is up to something very evil behind the scenes.

Mmembe thinks he brought the PF into power, frankly speaking i think he just hallucinates. People were just tired of the MMD which outlived its usefulness. With or without the Post, government was going to change.

  33. Sena  October 3, 2012 at 07:13

This is very interesting. I believe any body who hates Watchdog has no sense of excruciating and articulation. Every body must read the watchdog whether bad or good that comes out but select educative of the current issues. These guy do read and pass their comments on watchdog.

Politicians who are wise they seek to read this Website for their benefit and here what people say. I Love Nkandu Luo because when she speaks she is not like the other Kaponyas MPs who are in parliament and serving ministries with no purpose and direction.

I thanked the opposition Back benchers how they articulated and analyzed the President speech. This is what we want. PF should not be proud of nothing for the year which has ended. You could see that we have strong opposition and teaching the cabinet ministers to do more research for betterment of the country.

  34. mailo  October 3, 2012 at 07:12

Uliciyanga maningi too much wamene iwe. One has to study the enemys psycology before putting in control measures. It is also prudent for them to know what it is that is causing heartaches among some of our brethren. Better than those who dont want to face the reality.

I never knew the ugly mammoth had time for watchdog. Imangine on duty but pefering to browse! Interesting indeed. Actually the pf top leader ship are the most fond of watchdog coz they are scared of kubatoneka acilonda.”Bruising on the bleeding soul” sampa mwana wa mukomboni did you get that.

  43. Lubinda  October 3, 2012 at 06:50

It is good that they like the site themselves and are seeing what people are thinking about them. Most of these Ministers like Sampa would not have been Ministers had we had a serious government in place. The guy is so petty and immature. The things he say on HH and some of his comments on national matters do not befit a leader. This is the guy who said if Tonga wanted to produce a president they should start marrying Bembas. What nonsense from a minister. That HH was getting annoyed each time Zambia scored a goal at AFCON, now was this young boy sited next to HH to hear him complain each time Zambia scored? This is how useless this well educated young fella is.

  44. Ngidi wa kanda  October 3, 2012 at 06:46

Of course its the wise thing to do- know what your adversary is thinking about all the time. The opposite is like burying your heead in the sand, isn’t?

    • Mwansa Kapya  October 3, 2012 at 11:06

If it is wise for PF ministers to know what their adversaries think, how are they going to know when, though it is imposible, the watchdog is closed?

  45. PF chaps  October 3, 2012 at 06:30

Oh my God! While the govt machinery is hunting for the ZWD, it is The Watchdog that have easily caught govt machinery/ministers who send insults on the Watchdog. Kikikikikiki

Its unfortunate, tht ths government instead of advocatng for th freedom of information as their cry ws when n opostion nw they are workng hard to dstroy it.why?

  48. Tru Zambian  October 3, 2012 at 06:27

Any minister who has said a word about the WD, has spent countless work hours following the news on the watchdog. They are aware that the post will not tell them their weaknesses.
How possible is it that Andeleki can deregister an electronic medium?

  49. voice of one crying in wilderness  October 3, 2012 at 06:26

zambian watchdog is the most popular publication without a doubt, people have made it a ritual to check the ZWD every morning before reading the post so that we have a balanced view on news events, because Post is a PF publication

  50. Mpangula Mputyu  October 3, 2012 at 06:21

I guess it is a situation of If u cannot defeat them JOIN them.

    • 1000 ways to die  October 3, 2012 at 07:03

These guys started bloging long before we knew it. Now look at this andeleki guy. Who does he think he is honestly? I am sure he is trying to ipess someone to utter such nosense of deregistering the WD. Anyway we ve gotten used to hear that try something else or go ahead and deregister the kaponya government its postpast newspaper not worth half a penny.

  51. Mwansa Kapya  October 3, 2012 at 10:44

When did it become law? When did the watchdog start opperating. Why has it taken long for Andeleki to realize that he doen’t have the adress for the watchdog?
