Photo of the day: So where did Taima get cash to build these hotels?

taima 1With former ministers in the MMD administration being investigated and arrested for owning even bicycles, we wonder why Solwezi East MP Richard Taima has not been investigated.

It will be interesting to know where Taima, whose only known job is that of minister, got the money to build hotels in Solwezi, when others are being investigated for failing to account for certain properties.

As shown in the picture, these hotels belong to Richard Taima. They are situated along Mbonge Road in Solwezi just a few metres away from Solwezi Royal Hotel.

Taima was one of the first MMD MPs to accept a job as under minister in the PF, maybe that is why he is immune to investigations like all other MMD ministers.

This is CEEC money. The boy got K2 billion from CEEC since he was directly connected to the ministry of commerce… All we need to askk is whether he has finished paying and if not, why is he not being pursued to repay like others?

Taima keep it up…..this will create a living (employment) for one or two poor zambians. I think it is better than burrying money underground

Whilst we appreciate and congratulate people who are investing like Hon. Taima, It is as well important to see and check what those people have done for their family members. It would be unfortunate of me if I built a mansion leaving my parents soaked in a single thutched ram shuckle. People lets be humane and kind-hearted.

    • Komboni Dweller  January 17, 2013 at 07:03

I can also build that from my month-end pay, over a six year period; unless you have no experience in building and you have never erected any structure in your life time

  17. mlendo  January 16, 2013 at 15:46

Poverty mentality pa zed. Those flats are only worth about KR2pin. Do u mean Taima during his 3-4years as mp and minister did not have that money or even more? u scaring me!

pls he got a 2billion loan from CEEC thats why he is one leg in MMD and the other in PF to survive .

  22. one zambia 72 nations  January 16, 2013 at 15:12

YA,i saw this place when i was in slz last yr,it should be 40-55 m away from royal slz hotel.
if mr taima^s association with pf is to do awy with that then he is playing wrong m.maths.PF has no colour and no agreement thats why you see them failing to fullfil their camp– promises,2moro they head east north, after 2moro,west south, hoping to meet the sun when it rise from west to east which is not posible.
well done mr taima if atall its not stollen kwacha.we need such hardworking men in zed

  23. Vigil Citizen  January 16, 2013 at 14:22

Shame on you Taima. Your father lives in a one room hut and you own a hotel? Go to Mulonga village and see Taima’s village. The man is barely surviving and yet the son is a hotelier. Sir God will judge you.

    • Tondolo  January 16, 2013 at 15:06

you dont say !! his own father is a pauper ? thats very sad. :-)

  24. Vigil Citizen  January 16, 2013 at 14:08

Congrats Taima for a worthwhile investment but I was utterly disappointed with the hut in which his father lives.Go to Mulonga ward and ask for village headman Taima. The man lives below the poverty datum line when the son is building a hotel. I wonder if Mr Taima goes to visit his father with his driver. Sir if at all you have a human heart please build a house for that man otherwise twasebana.

  25. Ceaser B  January 16, 2013 at 13:41

Is it a crime to own a company if you drink all your moneys while your friend invest when did it become a crime. Taima was an MP under RB and got his moneys as MP, he may have businesses and etc. We have examples of CDEs (Cleaners) in Government owning nice houses while their boss are still renting houses. Just plan when in life you shall see how small investments may take you after 10 years.

  26. poko yakayombo kakutemba  January 16, 2013 at 13:40

he got 1.5billion from ceec when he was deputy minister commerce were the funds were being administered when the poor youth in solwezi did not even afford to get even 10million how may youths would have benafited you pf you support arresting some one with nkinga that is the agument .

  27. TRUE 77  January 16, 2013 at 13:39

  29. LUBA  January 16, 2013 at 12:31

You people forget that zambia has minerals as well. so when you say that his job is only of being a minister, it sounds very myopic. you mean there are no other jobs somebody can do that generates more money than being a minister only? kwena pa zambia abashishita ebengi. friends there are a lot of minerals in zambia to trade that you can not even be investigated by any one.
    please shibukeni nabucha.

Why do Zambians demonise wealth? Surely why is it that every successful Zambian become either a satanist or a Thief. Lets celebrate successful Zambians. Let the young Zambians admire success. As it stands now, In Zambia, people are afraid to be rich because they will be called names. Bunonshi ne bukomo botukeba ku Solwezi. Let Taima even build more flats
