Photo of the day: Soldiers houses and toilets at Arrackan

This photo was taken at Arrackan Baracks in Lusaka today, Monday 10th December, 2012. The Zambian who sent this to the Watchdog asks, ‘how can Zambia allow such structures to be used as toilets and residence of our officers in this time and era.

And adds: ‘this is in Arakan Barracks near Arakan Girls High School. Actually next to it is a bathroom made of a won out tent.

Shame on you Zambia and the govt.’

I hope they don’t charge you for publishing classified secret material. Don’t worry we can see the delapidation of infrastructure in Zambia on google earth. Arrackan barracks looks like a land fill, or marabo or ku chishala!!

I put the blame on the military high ranking officers including the Army commander for not building modern structures. The army has an Engineering Squadron which has Civil Engineers with skills that can be used to design and develop proper structures to accomodate personel. Shame upon you guys for being idle and short sighted.

You are very right DEVELOPER. We are not at war and one wonders why the highly trained soldiers that we pay monthly cannot be used to maintain such infrastructure. In fact they could maintain all government infrastructure and save the country millions. UTH laundry machines, UNZA hostels, Their buildings. The list is endless. No wonder these guys are always found drinking all the time. They are too idle.

We are giving them up to friday to demolish this and give us a better structure, failure to which as soldiers, we are going to riot.
