Post/PF lies exposed again: BRE not part of WP constitution convention

indunaThe Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) has refuted reports that it pushed in a late entry to participate in the ongoing Western province constitution convention.

The Kuta told ZANIS in Limulunga today that the position of the Barotse Royal Establishment that it would not take part in the constitution making process still stands.

Induna Kalonga (seated and wearing red beret) explained that the BRE sent three Indunas to the ongoing provincial convention yesterday to go and inform the technical committee that the BRE’s stance on the issue still remained the same.

“We are still consulting our district Kutas and other stakeholders over the same issue before a final policy statement is given to the government and the Western provincial administration was advised accordingly,” he explained.

Induna Kalonga said the BRE was not happy with some media reports suggesting that the Litunga had sent three Indunas to represent him at the convention.

The Induna has since demanded for a retraction adding that there was need for journalists to verify their facts before writing stories.

He said the Litunga can never be quoted in any news story but his spokesperson the Ngambela or any Induna representing the BRE.

The constitution convention is being held at Mongu College of Education and has attracted many stakeholders from all the districts in the province.

The convention ends this Saturday.

Zeus. U sound very provocative like ONLY A PROFESSIONAL IDIOT CAN BE (I dont mean u are one). Respect other people s laws. Many countries have laws and traditions which serve their respective citizens. Ma lozi like it that, period!

    • MAN  January 18, 2013 at 08:44

What development have Indians brought to your towns????? Idiot!

  4. Muuna Sakata  January 17, 2013 at 12:39

Nowhere in this world has one country participated in another country’s constitutional making process. how then do you expect people of Barotseland to participate in another country’s constitution? It appears memories of certain people are too short. The people of Barotseland have already stated their position by agreeing with the Zambian government not to respect the BA64. This means Barotseland gets to its original position before the BA64 was signed; an independent Kingdom.
Lozis are gifted thinkers and Zambians know very well that without their brains, they will crumble faster than immediately, that is why they are so desperate to cling on to the people of intelligence, respect honesty, hard work etc. Lozis can pass any exam without cheating or copying, but the other fellows can only manage to survive an exam when they copy or cheat, what a shame!
Remain with your stealing tendency and leave the people of Barotseland alone to determine their own destiny which they will manage very well.

  5. ndumeleti  January 17, 2013 at 12:02

FOR YOUR INFORMATION, THE REASON WHY THE BAROTSELAND AGREEMENT 1964 IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE CURRENT ZAMBIAN DRAFT CONSTITUTION IS THAT THE ZAMBIAN GOVERNMENT IS FULLY AWARE THAT BY THE TIME THIS PROCESS IS OVER BARORSELAND WOULD HAVE GONE. THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT WANT TO REDO THE CONSTITUTION SO SOON.

  6. people power  January 17, 2013 at 12:00

@Farooq, there has never been harmony in zambia. there has been peace, but not harmony. and that peace has only been due to tolerance by those that are subjugated.

    Time to pretend is over.

    • Shokolo Kubbangosha  January 18, 2013 at 08:09

Hey wahesu, u ve got an excellent analysis. Zambia has lived in peace becoz others were simply oppressed and tolerant. NOT in Harmony! Nibata naha yandate.

  7. people power  January 17, 2013 at 11:58

@Logical thinker, we are speaking the same thing. i am simly telling that other guy that what the zambian government is doing is a waste of time because it is inconsistent with the provisions of the BA64.

Be blessed as you await the birth of your new state, for this is surely about to take place.

  11. people power  January 17, 2013 at 10:27

@Path Finder, this Clause is the one that makes whatever the zambian government has been and is doing now. it is all time wasting, just like the referendum of 1969 was a sham.

if you say the BRE is not a factor, you are in for a rude shock!

    Quote from the Bartose Agreement

    8.Implementation
The Government of the Republic of Zambia shall take such steps as may be necessary to ensure that the laws for the time being in force in the Republic are not inconsistent with the provisions of this Agreement.

    • Logical Thinker  January 17, 2013 at 11:40

@People Power i feel really sad for you that you still think Logic and Reason can still work with these people. I gave up a long time ago,i do not want to risk a brain tumor. We forever hail the wisdom of our fore parents for having out-witted these people by throwing in a silver bullet of sorts which they could not anticipate will be the necessary primer for our current liberation in case they went back on their word in the agreement. Clearly, you sense these folks have not the foggiest idea just what type of people they are dealing with,we are and forever will be Barotses,be prepared to face the consequences this comes with. We have always been as humble as our ancestral totem and National symbol(Loxodonta africanus)The African elephant. If youhave encountered this pachydermous beast, you realise its laid back demeanor, which you can mistake for docility at your own peril.Once you aggrevate it am afraid you will llearn the hard way what it is really made of. The Elephant has put its massive bulk and sat on them,i want to see them wiggle out from the force of its heavy weight! Pass me the pop corn please.

        correct

  12. people power  January 17, 2013 at 10:08

@Pathfinder, i can explain to you the implication of the BRE not participating. and please follow:

Kaunda and The Litunga, on behalf of Northern Rhodesia and Barotseland respectively, signed the BA64 to form Zambia. BA64 has conditions for this unitary system.

the condition in Clause 8 of the BA64 is that no decision whatsoever, which is inconsistent with the provisions of the BA64, shall become legal in bartoseland, as long as the Litunga, on behalf of the people of bartoseland, is not consulted and does not consent to it.

it means that, whatever decisions the zambian government has been passing, including this current convention, in barotseland, is illegal.

what the Litunga is saying that the Zambian Government has abrogated conditions upon which zambia was made and decided to impose hegemony on barotseland.

But bartoseland is sovereign and protected by this international agreement.

to cut the story short, whatever the Zambian government is doing now is a waste of money because that clause invlidates whatever they have and are doing.

I am a lawyer and every lawyer knows this. and at the end of the day, by dodging this matter, Zambia is about to be reshaped.

    MARK MY WORDS

Not when the other party is under-trodden or is being taken advantage of and shut your butt Farooq. If you want to comment, go back to Pakistan or India. This is a family discussion between us Zambians.

  14. Mike wabwino  January 17, 2013 at 09:03

Zambia can not be a UNITARY state without the Barotseland Agreement of 1964. Like it or not. Sata knows it Wina knows it and Kaunda knows it.

    • Logical Thinker  January 17, 2013 at 11:56

@Bo Mike, you are correctly using logic and reasoning but am afraid it will never work. And yet even your constitution belabours to rub this UNITARY aspiration as a form of shangrila/utopia in its preamble.Do the authors of the constitution have any idea what the simple word unitary means at all? Have you people no lawyers to advise you? I cringe at these things and for this i will anything to save my children from this thinking lest it be infectious.

    • Patriot Zambian  January 17, 2013 at 11:42

Fellow citized, you can’t understand because of your poor education which is devoid of analytical skills. It is for this reason of accelerated depreciation in human mental faculties that, inter alia, that those with a good education and those wanting to ensure quality education want to go it alone if normalcy is diametrically opposed to civilized implementation of the One Zambia One Nation goal.

There seems to be an overwhelming increase in the number of copy and paste ‘intellectuals’ who can’t read-analyse-understand before opening up their mouths. What a shame. No wonder one old post independence politician once said that his Standard Six was equivalent to a Bachelor of Arts degree!

      Very concerned by mediocrity.

  17. King Sipopa Lutangu  January 17, 2013 at 07:36

Is it not shameful to be Zambian, How do you feel Zambians, why the panic again? Why would you quote the King on your unnecessary Constitution making process, We the Lozis never stoop so low, no brown envelope can ever buy our freedom… all the attendants have been bribed by the POST/PF Coalition governments. Those delegates are Bembas/Nyais serving in various ministries in Barotseland. We had already declared independence from Zambia in March last year just why would we u-turn on our resolve.

Iam warning Zambia and Namakando’s Post to desist from framing the BRE so as to boost your sales. You should only do so after full-consultation with the Prime Minister of the Royal Barotseland and are sure you are reporting on the re-establishment of the Old Kingdom other than that its malicious. In any case you decide to go ahead and report fake news items next time we will not hesitate but persecute you because I have warned you, do it at your own peril.

    Viva Namuso, Viva Barotseland.

There is one issue that we must know, this is a delicate issue which cant be resolved by force we tried it since 1969 Dr Kaunda arressted and did everything to let it go but its their here is the point you can not supress the will of the people especially as enlightened as these no matter how long it takes.
They know TWO indepedently or autonomous regions come to gathere through a document crafted with conditions which was the basis of the union.
That document is it now in play??what will we do??can we hold them agaist their will??whats the basis upon which we must exercise authority over this region??
    We need thinkers not soldiers??

  26. Michael Chilufya Mumembe  January 16, 2013 at 20:48

I watched the videos of Chanda Chimba III on youtube. Sata promised these people that he would honour the BA64 within 90 days. He agitated these people and they voted for him in exchange for votes. Let him now fulfill his words instead of ordering to kill them. My personal oppinion over the BA64 is that the govt should go to the table with all stakeholders in this issue and find a solution to it. I for one would not like be separated with the barotse people who I’ve lived with as brothers and sisters under one umbrella Zambia. Thus, the NWP stance of federalism may be the best for Zambia.

  27. people power  January 16, 2013 at 19:58

@shi mapuli, you can go ahead and make your consitution, no one is stopping you. but be advised, you will wake up and contend with the document that made bartoseland marry with Northern Rhodesia.

keep on dreaming. no law, decision or any, which is incsosistent with terms in the BA64, shall come into force in bartoseland without consultation with the Litunga.
