Some MMD parliamentarians have refuted media reports that about 30 of them are planning to defect to the ruling Patriotic Front.
Speaking at a press briefing Tuesday morning, Solwezi central Member of Parliament Lucky Mulusa says MMD legislators are not so irresponsible to defeat the aim of democracy as well as disappoint the electorates.
Mr. Mulusa has since claimed that media reports in which party leader Nevers Mumba was quoted as having said that 30 MPs were about to leave MMD are inaccurate.
Mr. Mulusa noted that PF was not being genuine about engaging the opposition in government as its aim is just to increase numbers in parliament.
He added that those that have since defected have records of criminal activities and as such they are trying to find a way out by associating with the PF government.
The parliamentarian said such a trend possesses a threat to the country’s justice system and further questions whether pending cases of the Defectors in question will be handled objectively.
Mr. Mulusa was accompanied by Sinda member of parliament Levy Ngoma, Lufwanyama member of parliament Anne Chungu , Christopher Kalila of Lukulu East and Mushili malama of Chitambo Constituencies.
And sinda MP levy Ngoma has noted that the MPs will stop funding party activities should Major Richard Kachingwe return to MMD.
He adds that the MMD legislators are not ready to fund a national executive secretary who is compromised and do not value the interests of the party.
