Kabimba & PF should not be jealous of RB’ s achievements, he left economy better – Chifire

RB during a democracy duty in the Congo DRC

We are disapointed by attacks  on Former President Rupiah Banda and the MMD attributed to Patriotic Front (PF) Secretary General,Winter Kabimba arising from Mr. Banda’s first lecture at Boston University.

Mr.Kabimba should not deliberately ignore facts about the good economic performance under Rupiah Banda’s reign.Mr.Banda and his team laid a good foundation for the future growth of our economy which the PF Government has failed to build upon. The MMD left a better economy than what is obtaining now.

On the issue of corruption,Mr.Kabimba should be reminded that the PF Government was involved in corruption the very first day they where voted into office by awarding a tender to Apollo Enterprises to refurbish State House,a company belonging to Finance Minister,Alexander Chikwanda, without following tender procedure. The corruption cases Mr.Kabinga is refering to are mere allegations that have been heavily politicized in order to demonize Rupiah Banda, his family, former Government Ministers and the MMD Party.

PF Government and indeed Mr.Kabinga are not the right people to condemn the failed constitution making process because they have embarked on a very questionable constition making process that is segregative and designed to serve sectional interests.

Mr.Kabimba and the PF Government should not be envious over Rupiah Banda’s achievements but concentrate on fulfilling their campaign promises.

MMD left the economy on a better footing than where it is today. It remains to be seen how Mr.Kabimba will help His Exellence,President Sata also qualify to lecture at Boston University when he leaves office in 2016.

  1. Ok ba Chifire what are you trying to say? the PF has only began its work and the MMD had a good 20+ yrs. The late Chiluba started the reforms which the late Mwanawasa built upon and RB almost squandered. Can we as a nation be told how much the MMD raised for its campaign and how iwe pungwa before you open your mouth again!! Your support for MMD is just pathetic mwe!! Be OBJECTIVE and Neutral after all u are running an NGO! If you cant do that then just come out in the open and declare you are MMD period! Yaku nyokola njala bati?

  4. Kabimba, don’t talk too much the way Dora used to do in MMD. You must improve the conditions of police cells at all police stations while you are still in power.

Dora was shocked when she was locked up at Kabwata Police Station. There were no chairs in the cells. She never realised that oneday, she would find herself checking in in these quarters.

I advise you to start putting air conditioners and sofas in these cells right now because you might find yourself there soon, don’t be fooled by time and power.

  6. PF please stop commenting on MMD and work. Are you failing o run the country? Kabimba you talk too much. Governance issues shuild be left to govt spokeperson to comment and you should be commenting on party issues.
You might soon be analogued to William Banda because of your unrefined talk. Mind you, PF is now in power and you should stop compaining.

  13. President Banda Dis not Qualify to lecture on Democracy

It’s such a shame that president should embarass himself, Zambia and Africa to accept to lecture at Boston University. His record disqualifies him.

    Toxic Corruption levels
    lack of Democracy
    Very Weak Leadership
Caressing pre and post election violence

  14. If the “PF Government was involved in corruption the very first day they where voted into office by awarding a tender to Apollo Enterprises to refurbish State House,a company belonging to Finance Minister,Alexander Chikwanda, without following tender procedure, what then is the ACC doing about this naked fact. Has the ACC opted to behave like an ostritch by burrying its head in the Kalahari sands?

Ngati Ukwa akazakomboka, ambili azalira ndikukukuta mano. Having disturbed most neighbouring states, through abusive language and insolence, the demise of Ukwa will entail that plunderers will have nowhere to seek regugee status. Prominent leaders that committed political and professional suicide for associating themselves with the reign of tyrany due to excessive greed, include Musa Mwenye, Mutembo Nchito, Mmembe, Sebastian Zulu etc. Many top civil servants, Heads of Institutions and ambassadors that were appointed in Govt through nepotism and patronage, will suffer from lethal stress-related ailments. 15. Kabimba should concetrate on ensuring that his party performs now that we are in power.Lets forget about RB,let us perform.RB should be talked about by police officers, that is if he did break a law.Otherwise Kabimba is a ka william Banda in making.

    Msengezi Mtapila - April 7, 2012

  16. Yes Kabimba should not be jealousy of Banda’s present and past performance. He should also know that Bandas are performers and are leaders by birth unlike him who is forcing matters to be a leader. Infact just across in Malawi, Malawi’s vice president, Joyce Banda, was sworn in as president on Saturday 7 April 2012 following government confirmation that President Bingu wa Mutharika died suddenly on Thursday. One wonders why they took so long to confirm the death of the dictator. Trying to plot a coup maybe!
Ms. Banda, who becomes Malawi’s first female president, ascended to the presidency as mandated by the national constitution. She took the oath of office in the capital, Lilongwe.

  18. @ nondirectionman:

Levy Junction was started by Mwanawasa and accelerated under RB. Sata can claim no credit for Levy Junction at all. In fact I seem to remember him crying about how the sitting tenants should have been awarded the old ESCO Complex. Silly man. Can those impoverished sitting tenants really have done as good a job as what has been done there with Levy Junction.

  19. What winter is saying is that RB should not give the impression that he made any successes as president, because he simply did not make any impact during his 3 years of presidence, otherwise some one tell me how he can be voted out after 3 years with all that was put in the MMD campaign!!!ONE DID NOT NEED TO BE A POLITICIAN OR INTELIGENT TO SEE THAT THE MAN WAS THE MOST USELESS PRESIDENT ZAMBIA WILL EVER HAVE! THANKS TO THE ZAMBIAN SHARP ELECTORATE!

  21. Wynter Kabimba’s greatest personal scare is the uncertain fate of the life-span of his PF President. Ever since Sata returned from India, he has failed to report to the nation the fruitful outcome of investments Indian businesses promised to execute in Zambia. This is on assumption that Sata’s visit (minus Bob Sichinga) to India was to scout for Indian investments in Zambia. However, it is NOT normal for HE the President to shy away from the public – a factor that is generating a lot of speculation that President Sata may be too ill hence necessitating being confined to bed-recovery/bed-rest. If this happens to be the case, his Ministers are to scared to contemplate the worst outcome.

Hence Kabimba’s hallucinations. But he is deriving comfort by thriving in his world of deception. PF cadres will be fed on his noxious lies. But his assertion that RB is misinforming the international community stems from utter shame for his PF’s failure to deliver its fake promises. People who have accessed RB’s inaugural lecture will attest to the fact that the former President clearly presented authentic facts that included some aspects of honest self-criticism. RB’s lecture has been published in full in Daily Nation Vol. 2 Issue No. 151 dated 5th April 2012. RB’s lecture upheld MMD’s integrity and performance in its past Govt inhigh steem. MMD politicians can now walk along the streets of Lusaka, Kitwe, Ndola, Livingstone and all urban areas of this country with their heads high in pride. Kabimba is just being petty because he is frightened that PF Govt will be short-lived, and that it will go down in the history of Africa as the most short-lived failed political party.

  25. There is nothing new that Kabimba is telling the nation. The continued accusations of the corruption of the MMD government is beginning to sound “a dog and the old bone” who keeps going back to it whenever he wants the meaty flavour and taste. This has began to sound like an old record and we are tired of hearing the same tune played over and over again! Thats the way the PF government is behaving to divert attention from their failure to achieve what they promised. Tell us something new. More than six months into the office, they should have come up with a development agenda they should expending energy on.
