Updated: Police lock up Nevers Mumba again

Dictator Michael Sata’s Police in Lusaka have today around 16:20 hours locked up MMD leader Never Mumba on the charge of wilfully failure to comply with applicable procedure relating to management of public funds.

The PF police have also arrested him on three counts of abuse of office.

Charges are that on dates unknown,Mumba wilfully failed to comply with laid down procedures in receiving and disbursing Canadian Dollars 122,229.85 a donation to the Zambian government by a a private company called Barrick Gold Corporation.

Other charges are that Mumba abused his authority by awarding contracts of 9000, 19850, and 5248 Canadian Dollars for electrical works, carpeting and construction of a deck at the Zambian High Commission in Canada.

He has been remanded in custody at Woodlands Police Station and will appear in court tomorrow.

Earlier police wanted to get Mumba’s finger prints which he refused because they wanted to use them in implicating him.

This is the the third time the police are detaining Zambia’s former envoy to Canada in a space of two months.

Mumba was was summoned to appear before the Task Force today but told the police that the notice was too short and that he should be allowed to meet them on Wednesay.

The police working under pressure from State House told him to report himself today or be picked up by force.

‘Yes I am in the cells now at Woodlands police station,’ Mumba told the Watchdog.

His lawyers led by Sakwiba Sikota were frantically trying to get him out on police bond by 16: 30 local time, but the Watchdog has been informed that president Michael Sata has ordered the police to make sure he spends at least a day in cells.

  1. This is the govt that the Roman Catholic Church gave to the Zambian people; they wanted all these things to be happening – and now they have surprisingly gone missing.

Ala akanwa kakulu kaletelele ba mfungo, and his brother sata also want to show him that hez young in all ways and he can neva challenge him. This totally means there are unsettled issues between the two. But let me remind these guys, they should not take the zambian people for a ride, zambia is bigger than mumba and sata. We dont want cheap politics please, be mature and let the people see maturity in you. Stop frastrating people and concentrate on running this nation smoothly. We are not in the stone age.. No!

  23. Its true it is necessary to pray 4 mr mumba and we can also say the gestapo is at work which is also un welcome to the zambian people. But one event leads to another, mr mumba is my blood but truthfully speaking, he hasnt been conducting himself well, he has been trying to play a hero but this is not the right time to be controvesual. He hasnt been faithful to God, to himself and to the nation as a man of God. If mr mumba can humble himself and comeout of these shacles free, he will be really a leader and the nation will follow his steps. We need people like mr. Mumba in opposition for checks and balances in pf government. If he cant humble himself before God, people and the church then, he is fighting a loosing battle. Even his party presidence will neva be valid. The mmd needs him, the nation too, needs him, but first let him be delivered spiritualy, let him be faithful to the Lord and people and everything will be well. We need all these parties to drive this nation forward. Stand and let the people see that he is innocent, if not, let him be punished by the law because we are fighting to have a clean government that will stand a taste of time.

He should have known the procedures and the way govt operates . He deliberately chose to ignore the procedure like an office orderly. If we allow leaders to get away with murder then we we are all dead. Let him explain himself before the courts. If he is innocent he will be released. If guilty,,,,Chimbokaila

Our young democracy is being distorted by the state of affairs of government bt also I’m noticing a terrible trend by newspapers like Zambian watchdog who @ tymz compromise national image to get a story out. Let’s emmulate the USA when it comes to national pride all stakeholders join together. Dear Mr president please show us direction this lack of direction by you & ur government is worrying. 29. By the time its 2016 Nevers Mumba will be politically and financially bankrupt. With all the hell the president went through to get to state house, you think mumba can get there on a silver plate. He should be hard, this is only the beginning. Power is sweet, Mumba isn’t even a factor in Zambian politics, God forbid but if the president died and mumba stood against the justice minister, he would still lose. Even in 2016 PF is going to win, Zambia has no opposition.
