Two candidates sucessifully filed their nominations for the forth-coming Lukulu west by-election in Western province.

  1. UPND may lose but its presence is being felt. Come 2016, it will be a force to reckon with.

  2. These bye elections are a financial tragedy of unimaginable proportions on the country meagre coffers. Whether the constitution allows them or not, this was not the intention of the provision, no! We are truly a laughing stoke of a nation with this Sata of theirs, the sooner he kicks the bucket the better.

  16. They ar taking RB to court K10 billion yet they ar puting k180billion 4 by-elections. President Goodluck Jonathan told Sata off, that a single businesman can pay zambian ths $2milion dollars instead of dentng the image of Nigeria. When we say BAKAPONYA ar in government, U call us names

  19. In 2001 general elections 75% of the money CAME FROM DONOR FUNDING. Magande later worked hard 2 end this. I HIGHLIGHTED YESTERDAY: ONE BY-ELECTION 4 an MP COSTS K18Billion- (this money can pay 1800youth wit K10MILLION EACH 4 SMALL BUSINESSES OR CAN PUT 900youths on jobs 4 6months each getng K3milion).THIS TRANSLATE 2 18000youths 4 businesses and or 9000youths on jobs 4 TEN BY-ELECTIONS THIS YEAR ALONE.(WHAT ARE YO PRIORITIES FELLOW BLOGGERS 4 FELLOW ZAMBIANS SUFFERING) After puting PF THEY REPAY ZAMBIANS LIKE THIS. I put the question, CAN U PAY A PROSTITUTE YO ONE MONTH SALARY AND LEAVE YO FAMILY STRUGLING ON WHAT 2 EAT 4 ONE MONTH? This is how PF HAS REPAID YOUTHS-come on fellow africans, our money is going 2 germany ballot printers. WHY NOT PROTEST

    Muchende - March 29, 2013

    • The problem with us Zambians is that no one is prepared to do a “Tahrir Square”. The political class think they are untouchable and cant be questioned over the wrongs they commit. Its so wrong that they would rather have decision go unchallenged by having numbers through very expensive by-elections. Unfortunately, the same unemployed youths are exploited and used to chant their masters wishes and without realising the colossal amounts that are being spent on these by-elections, money that would have been used to uplift many of their lot from the poverty levels they experience on a daily basis. Until that time when as a nation we will collectively say enough is enough the despicable political class will continue to exploit the suffering majority.

  20. I know God takes what is rightfully his. But whats the delay? This man has suffered enough. Let him & rest to the other side with his urinals. Oh wait. God is it that this person should have stool incontinence as well before departure?ah, then i change my mind. Funny how suddenly someone can not enjoy what he suffered for, for 11yrs.

  23. PATTERN of By-ELECTIONS: Why are most if not all the by-elections not taking place in Luapula and Northern Provinces? So is the PF not a regional party? Can a UPND that participates in all the by-elections wherever they take place still be viewed as a tribal party?

  27. It is a fact that PF dominated the just ended Ward by-election including those that were in Western Province. Going by its growing popularity, PF may just sweep both seats, leaving the opposition crying “RIGGING!RIGGING!”

    JS - March 29, 2013

  28. It is ironic that the moribund and toothless ECZ will conduct this election when it is quite clear that in Kapiri, PF have already shown their violent thuggery and terrorism. It’s just a matter of time before Lukulu is engulfed by these thugs. And then the ECZ will merely issue a passing condemnation. ECZ should ban violent political parties like PF from contesting elections, or else ECZ should engage International bodies that are impartial to conduct elections for them. PF are blood thirsty for MPs and will engage in the dirtiest games to achieve that, even if it means people losing their lives.
