Nevers refutes claims of boycotting elections due to lack of funds

Opposition Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) president Nevers Mumba has refuted assertions that his party may not have had enough funds for campaigns to participate in the forthcoming Kapiri Mposhi and Lukulu West Parliamentary by-elections slated for April twenty third this year.

Dr. Mumba has maintained that his party has shun participating in the forthcoming by-elections because it has its own strategic program to deal with than to participate in by-elections which are allegedly engineered by the ruling Patriotic Front.

Dr. Mumba has disclosed to Qfm in an interview that if it was an issue of the MMD not having enough funds to participate in the two by-elections he would have told the nation that the ruling party needed funding to participate in the by-elections.

  3. there was a combination of upnd and mmd in mufumbwe what was the result.now civil servants have an increament of 200% salary. I doubt if pf is not putting more money in your pocket.pf may rule for 30 years if opposition is not careful.

  4. i feel for the opposition. its a catch 22. if they participate in these bye-elections, they legitimize the bye-elections which we know are being rigged from the mufumbwe formula and now extended to livingstone. if they do not participate, they enhance the pafwaka government’s rapid ongoing slaughter of democracy pa zed. so if you were the leader of the opposition, what would you rather do? question is to all bloggers please. i need baptized responses.

  8. Dr Mumba and the entire MMD Leadership,be of good cheer don’t be discouraged. There’re many pipo out there with eyes but, they’re blind.Only spiritual pipo will know what God is doing in Zambia.Zambia is not all about politics.Let the blind political cadres remain under the polical deceit/ blanket covered and will just work-up one day to find the change God wants for Zambia.Urgue with no blind man,God Loves Zambia beyond our limited political understanding and partisan affliliation.

    • IF MMD WERE DEAD AND BURIED, FRED MMEMBE WOULD NOT WASTE TIME PURSUING RB & NEVERS WITH COURT CASES…HE KNOWS THEY ARE STILL POWERFUL…ESPECIALLY RB, HE IS JUST JEALOUS OF RB BEING RECOGNIZED AND HELPED BY OTHER COUNTRIES…SORRY, BUT RB HAS EARNED HIS RESPECT FROM ALL THE NATIONS…
..MMEMBE SHOULD JUST BEGIN TO WORK ON HIS CURRENT NEGATIVE STATUS IN THE FACE OF ALL ZAMBIANS WHO HAVE NOW SEEN THRU HIS SCHEMES…HE WILL HAVE TO EARN HIS RESPECT BACK OTHERWISE IT IS HIM(MMEMBE) WHO WILL BE DEAD AND BURIED..

  14. Good move mr nevers mumba. Work together as a pact with upnd, you are going to stand a good chance of winning paliamentary as well as presidential by elections viva upnd-mmd pact.

  15. Instead of increasing their numbers in Parliament, Nefarious Mumba has decided to play into the hands of UPND leader and son of a cattle rustler, Son Chintombwa, by letting UPND stand against PF in Lukulu and Kapiri. We might as well write the epitaph on the MMD tombstone: MMD REST IN PEACE AND NEVER TO RISE AGAIN.

  17. Mumba go back to the church as a pastor. Remember what you said that serving pipo through politics is better than in church. Here you are now, failing in everything, shame on you!!!!!

    • its unfair to make dr mumba a captive or rather confine him to the church. let him serve god’s the way he desires without due pressure from anyone. how do you know if he was using the church a platform for political career.

  20. Wrong Strategy. Should just say we are backing UPND. MMD will remain only in small pockets based on individual MP popularity come 2016. As a party, it is slowly dying. 20 years was too much and it needs radical change to turn the fortunes and not now but with patience.

    monze - March 29, 2013

    • I agree with you. MMD may never return the popularity they have had for the 20 yrs they have been in power. Although more and more people feel disillusioned by the pathetic performance of the PF, nobody in his/her right frame of mind would think of bringing back the MMD anytime soon. The ONLY and BEST OPTION, is Zambia Forward!!! Viva UPND!

  21. Boycotting elections caused the downfall of UNIP, this means MMD has automatically surrendered two seats, infant 3 since they have expelled Feirra MP
