Liar, your salary was increased by 27% not 10% and you have no credibility -HH tells Sata

UPND president Hakainde Hichilema has blasted president Micchaqel Sata for lying that his latest pay rise was only 10 per cent.

In a strong worded letter to Sata, Hichilema said Sata’s salary was actually increased by 27 per cent.

Hichilema told Sata that ‘the reason for this deliberate understatement can only be attributed to your lack of credibity.’

Hichilema further challenged Sata to decline the salary increase as an independent day gift to Zambia.

  1. Both the media and the internet community have accused local officials of a lack of transparency, amid a delay of four days before updated figures were announced. Millions of angry comments about this issue and the failure of drains to cope with the storm have been posted on China Twitter-equivalent weibo sites.

  4. why do we as Zambians divide our selves over practical things. the actions of the Pf have greatly contradited almost every thing they promised. They announce a wage freeze but before they impliment it they first increase their on salaries so they remain comfortable during the period they hope to impliment it at the expenses of poor Zambians and one of the most had working civil servants nurses. they increase of salaries on all the mps is just a diversion to shut them up this is were we will see if they to are unworthy to take up government.

  5. Well spoken H.H. Now lead by example by asking all UPND members of parley to turndown their new salaries. ” out of sympathy for the suffering majority and to prove that we are not in politics for the money, continue paying us the old salaries”.

  7. Iwe ulichipuba bad! Who is the final man to append his signature on all passed bills in parley? Levy and RB did not approve salary increaments even though they were approved by parley. They looked at the bigger picture. May be you dont know who is in gvt! Sata shoul not ask the opposition to state their stance on the increament b4 he makes a decision. He should lead and then others follow. What aleader who waits for the led and then make a decision. Nowonder there is infighting in PF. You need to analyse before commenting!

  27. I feel sorry for the president, because when all is done, it is his legacy that will be at stake, not the spokespeople and others riding on his name, that is the nature of the world. Somewhere out there are people riding on this man and not giving him the best advice out of self gain for these people. I doubt if this man when he had a vision for starting his party went into it for self gain, he only knows, but what is out at play is absolutely different from the beliefs and expectations that were created.
Does the person writing on his behalf believe what he is writing? or is he convinced Zambia is full of fools. You are making the man and yourselves as having won materially, you are losing the moral argument. You can blame HH as much as you want, he will be subjected to the same criticism if he became a getter than a server. You sold your souls to greed, corruptness, what a legacy? Most Zambians are decent people.

  35. Yes HH is right. Sata’s salary has been increased to K414,406 million from K327,000 million in 2012 and with a special allowance of K108,934. Basic Maths gives 26.7% i.e K414,406-K327,000=K87,406. Now divide K87,406 by K327,000 to get the percentage increase and you have: 87,406/327,000=0.267296 or 26.7296%
