Public Order Act: Police pick up MMD officials

Some MMD NEC members including the two vice presidents were this afternoon detained by Zambia police when they went to Lusaka’s Chipata market in Mandevu to mingle with the marketers in the area.

The MMD officials who included vice-president for Administration Michael Kaingu were intercepted by Zambia Police under the now dreaded Public Order Act and were immediately taken to Emmasdale Police station.

But Dr. Kaingu refused to be taken to Emmasdale Police and instead demanded to be taken to Central police.

At Central Police, the officers in charge wondered what was wrong with people mingling with other citizens and immediately released them.

  1. Just a moment. Who informed the Police that MMD leaders were mingling with marketeers and how long was the mingling for the Police to move from Emmasdale police to Chipata mkt. and why was the MMD leadership mingling there if not unlawful assembly?

  3. THE ONE AND ONLY REASON KAUNDA LOVES SATA IS BECAUSE SATA TOPPLED MMD; A PARTY THAT KAUNDA HATES WITH ALL HIS SINEWS.
MMD IS HATED BY KK BECAUSE THEY KICKED HIM OUT OF POWER BEFORE HE COULD HAND OVER POWER TO ONE OF HIS CHILDREN.
BY THE BY THE WORD IN THE TITLE TO THE ARTICLE SHOULD BE “CONSCIENCE” AND NOT “CONSCIOUS”
YES, KAUNDA HAS NO CONSCIENCE OR SCRUPLES WHEN IT INVOLVES WHO GOVERNS ZAMBIA AS LONG IT IS NOT MMD.

  7. NOT even the PUBLIC ORDER ACT OR THE ONE PARTY STATE is going to work.
Sata seems not to learn from the past, it didn’t work for Kaunda and Chluba neither will it work for you BOSS.
You are wasting your time arresting opposition members, the way we removed MMD thats the way we will remove PF. PF knows that its a one term Government hence there fear but these nothing PF can do to change matters in people’s minds we have already fired you we just waiting for 2016.

  8. The police are behaving like sewage rats every time the toilet flashes they get so excited for nothing as though the refuse will last forever.
PF will be in power for one term and most of these cops don’t seem to realize that their committing career suicide lining them selves up for retirement in 2016.like i said before its good PF came to power giving us a chance to wisely choose in 2016 so that we can uproot the weeds from the political garden and burn them for good.

  13. I definately sympathize with UPND being harrassed by PF not MMD. These chaps (MMD) thot they would be in power forever and never changed archic KKaunda Laws and now they are feeling the pinch. HH yesterday said take note of the PF corrupt folks so that in future they could be tried. So too bad MMD but u deserve it.

    • Are you saying PF will be in power forever for them not wanting to change the same archaic law? In your reasoning, they will be more foolish for not having learnt the lesson from MMD even when they were reminded and certainly reminded themselves so often.

  17. The Opposition should petition the High Court thro the Attoney genral and the Registrar of socities why form a political party and yet you can not talk to the members.political parties are like fishermen who fish in one river where there is fish in the hope that each fisherman will catch fish. What is the puporse of having fishing net and keep it under the pillow without using it for fishing. This is serious and urgent. This has nothing to do with Public order Act it is just unprofensional misconduct of the police.policing is a service for all the people andto mantain law and order in the contry. It was not meant to monitor the activities of the political parties. Please the police do your work without fear and love for your contry Zambia

And very soon it will be marketeers and street vendors. And then it will be 2016 and then HH will be the only reasonable option worth of the trust and then SATA’s pf will be tossed out of power because.

I dont think mr.sata is aware of this police action and if he is then i will be surprised for the man was against such police actions while in opposition. Civil servants take note of the names of those PF cadres masquareding in police uniform for future use.

I also hope Zambians have learnt their lesson, never elect a mad man for president. I also wonder what judiciary will not find a piece of legislation that forbids people to mingle with their own kind vile and against the constitution. MMD may also have just been trying the law to see govt reaction in order to strengthen their case in court against this vile piece of legislation.

Are they animals or Beasts that they can not even visit their own relatives in shanty compounds unless with a permit? Sata used to move freely before he became president without being blocked in town,in compounds and stations. Who ever blocked him?
